The Most Beautiful Girl In High School Asks Her Grandfather For A Favor.
The next day.
I arrived at the Ichigaya family residence, located in a high-end neighborhood, with Hatsune-san.
“So, I’m asking you to help me and Yakumo-kun find part-time jobs,” Hatsune-san said to her grandfather in the reception room.
“Is that so? You want me to introduce you?” he replied.
“Yes! Please!”
Listening to their conversation from beside Hatsune-san, I thought to myself: I never expected to come back to this house so soon. It’s still as extravagant as ever.
“If you’re running low on funds, I can increase your allowance,” her grandfather suggested.
I heard that while Hatsune-san had been living off her parents’ savings until now, her grandfather would cover her rent and utility bills from now on. Despite being the busy head of the Ichigaya Group, he still made time to meet Hatsune-san when she asked.
(He’s not someone you should be able to meet casually like this…)
Being welcomed so warmly upon a sudden visit is only possible because Hatsune-san is his granddaughter. Her grandfather seems to care for her deeply. So, it made sense to me that if Hatsune-san wanted to work part-time, his first thought would be to give her an allowance.
“Even though you’re rich, grandpa, I think if I only receive money without working, I’ll end up being a lazy person in the future,” she said.
“So, you’re saying instead of giving you an allowance, I should help you find work?”
“Yes! I want to earn some money myself!”
While Hatsune-san nodded enthusiastically, her grandfather wore a troubled expression. He probably didn’t want to burden his beloved granddaughter with any more difficulties, especially after everything that happened with her uncle. However, in the end, he respected Hatsune-san’s wishes.
“…Very well. I understand your intentions. Do you have any preferences for conditions?”
“If I had to say, I’d prefer to work at the same place as Yakumo-kun. And I’d like it to be a short-term job!”
“It might be a bit presumptuous for me to ask to tag along just because of Hatsune-san, but I’d appreciate it.”
With the goal of replenishing our funds for summer activities, I thought a short-term job would be the most suitable.
“That’s fine. Since my granddaughter is relying on you, I’ll arrange a part-time job where you both can work together.”
“Thank you, grandpa!”
Hatsune-san took her grandfather’s hand and joyfully shook it.
Once she let go, she looked at me.
“I wonder what kind of job it’ll be? My strengths are using my head and doing household chores, but I’ll do my best even if it’s customer service or physical labor!”
Hatsune-san was lost in thought about the kind of part-time job she would have. Hearing her talk, I imagined her working part-time. She would definitely look good in a uniform standing at the register of a stylish café, but she might still have some reservations about her communication skills for customer service.
As for physical labor… there’s no way she’d be suited for that. Hatsune-san isn’t particularly strong.
On the flip side, her softness is one of her hidden charms.
She should definitely do something she’s good at for her part-time job. Using her intellect… more specifically, studying.
For someone like Hatsune-san, tutoring could be a good fit. She’s already taught me and Mayuki successfully.
But tutoring for a short-term part-time job might be difficult.
And it’s not the kind of job where we could work together.
As I imagined all this,
“Then let’s get started right away, starting today,” her grandfather announced to me and Hatsune-san.
***
The part-time job that her grandfather had arranged for us was located within the mansion.
After introducing us to the job, her grandfather left for an important meeting, and until he returned later that night, we were to handle household chores and cleaning around the mansion.
In other words, we were essentially working as housekeepers or servants.
Of course, there were other people who worked in the mansion on a regular basis, so our main role was to assist them.
(Well, it’s understandable that someone like that grandfather wouldn’t want his grandchildren working outside his watchful eye…)
It was a reasonable conclusion.
Hatsune-san and I changed into our uniforms and were in the break room used by the people working in the mansion.
“Somehow, this is different from what I expected… but this kind of outfit is fresh and nice, isn’t it?”
Initially, Hatsune-san seemed unsure about the job being different from her expectations, but once she tried on the uniform, she seemed to like it.
She was wearing a serious maid outfit that had no frills at all.
(Certainly, Hatsune-san in this kind of outfit looks good too. She’s cute, but it’s not just that…)
Though her outfit lacked embellishments, it gave off a calm and composed vibe.
“You look great in your butler outfit, too, Yakumo-kun!”
Hatsune-san said with a smile as she looked over at me.
I was wearing a butler suit, somewhat similar to a tuxedo.
Honestly, I felt like I didn’t suit it much since it was an unfamiliar outfit, but if Hatsune-san liked it, then that was fine by me.
“Oh, that reminds me. Maybe I should wear something like this for the culture festival.”
“That sounds good, but isn’t that too serious for the culture festival?”
“In other words, you prefer a cuter, frilly maid outfit?”
A frilly maid outfit on Hatsune-san?
If asked whether I wanted to see it, of course, I would love to.
But when it comes to which would be better, that’s a tough question.
“…I might not know until I compare them.”
“You’re being greedy, aren’t you?”
Greedy, huh?
Now that I think about it, maybe I am.
