- Chapter 64: The Lovers Decided To Sleep Together.
The Lovers Decided To Sleep Together.
Accepting the invitation from Hatsune-san’s grandfather, I found myself sharing dinner with Hatsune-san and him, making it a trio.
Before long, I noticed that the outside had turned completely dark, and I was now going to stay overnight at the lavish mansion in Ichigaya.
Initially, I intended to decline the offer, but I was told that it wouldn’t be polite to send a guest away, so I decided to accept his kindness.
I simply informed my family that I would be staying at Hatsune-san’s grandfather’s house.
They were unaware that Hatsune-san was the daughter of the Ichigaya financial conglomerate, so they probably wouldn’t imagine I was staying in such a grand mansion.
After enjoying a bath in a bathroom spacious enough to rival that of the inn I had stayed at recently, I donned the pajamas provided for me and settled into the guest room assigned to me.
(This room definitely has the feel of a wealthy magnate.)
I was in a state of relaxation, sitting in a chair within the lavish, spacious room, ready to sleep.
The room, which likely was only used when guests came, was impeccably maintained and radiated a sense of cleanliness.
Of course, it was only natural that I was in a separate room from Hatsune-san.
(Still, I’m glad that Hatsune-san was able to reconcile with her family…)
It seemed the issues involving her uncle were on the path to resolution, and from now on, her grandfather would take on the role of guardian.
As I pondered these thoughts, I heard a knock on the door.
“Yakumo-kun, may I come in?”
It was Hatsune-san’s voice.
“Of course, please do.”
“Hehe, thank you.”
As I responded, Hatsune-san entered the room.
“What brings you here at this hour?”
“I just felt like talking to you, Yakumo-kun.”
Saying this, Hatsune-san casually sat down on the bed.
I wondered what kind of conversation she wanted to have.
While I was contemplating the content of our discussion, my gaze was distracted by something else: Hatsune-san’s thighs.
The pajamas she was wearing were slightly short, revealing quite a bit of her white skin.
In this situation, with Hatsune-san seated on the bed…
(No way, she wouldn’t do something here, right?)
As I found myself spiraling into those thoughts, Hatsune-san began to speak.
“Tonight’s dinner was really extravagant, wasn’t it?”
“It certainly was… While it wasn’t flashy, the seasoning and ingredients definitely seemed high-end.”
“I feel like I ate things that are usually beyond my reach…”
“Yet, despite that, I felt like you had good table manners, Hatsune-san. I guess you could say you seemed very much like a young lady.”
“Eh? I didn’t mean to come off that way… Do you prefer young ladies, Yakumo-kun?”
As she casually asked that in the middle of our light-hearted conversation, I took a moment to think.
“I like you, Hatsune-san, so whether you’re a young lady or not doesn’t matter to me.”
“Fuufu~, I see.”
“Yeah. If anything, the important thing is what you want to do, Hatsune-san.”
“Me?”
Hatsune-san looked a bit perplexed.
“You know, since your grandfather mentioned it during dinner.”
“Oh, right, about where I’ll live from now on?”
During the meal, there had been a discussion about Hatsune-san’s grandfather becoming her guardian in place of her uncle.
In fact, the topic of where Hatsune-san would live in the future had come up during that conversation.
Hatsune-san had three options.
The first was to return to her childhood home, which had currently been taken over by her uncle but was expected to be returned to her soon.
The second option was her current apartment. It was a somewhat unique situation for a high school student living alone, but its proximity to school was a definite advantage.
The final option was to live in this mansion with her grandfather.
This mansion was located in the heart of an upscale residential area in the city, and surprisingly, it also had decent access to her high school.
“I haven’t made a decision yet, but my grandfather said, ‘It’s not ideal to leave my grandchild alone.’”
“So it seems like you might end up living here after all, Hatsune-san?”
“Hmm. While I would be happy to spend time in the same house as my family, this place feels a bit too big for me… And also—”
“And also? Is there something else?”
“The time I spend with you in my current apartment is something I really enjoy.”
Hearing Hatsune-san say that made me feel happy, but at the same time, another thought crossed my mind.
“…”
“You look a bit disappointed, Yakumo-kun.”
“Does it look that way?”
“Yeah. Well, I understand how you feel. If I move to this house where my grandfather is watching, I won’t be able to do the same things in my room as easily anymore, right?”
“Not that I intended… Besides, that might actually be healthier.”
Hatsune-san looked at me with narrowed eyes, as if trying to see through my evasive response.
“Talking like that… I can tell where your gaze has been wandering since earlier, Yakumo-kun.”
“Are you trying to tease me, Hatsune-san?”
“Not really. I just feel a bit unsettled in this huge house. I came to you because I wanted to get a good night’s sleep.”
“So what does that mean?”
“It means let’s sleep together.”
With that, Hatsune-san flopped down onto the bed.
“Personally, I feel like sharing a bed would make it even harder to relax.”
“Really? I actually sleep better when you’re next to me, Yakumo-kun.”
What is this feeling?
It was a mix of happiness and a sense of defeat.
I also felt uneasy about what Hatsune-san’s grandfather might think if he found us, but surely, just sleeping together wouldn’t be crossing any lines… Would it? No, that felt a bit questionable.
Yet, if you asked whether I could turn down Hatsune-san’s invitation, that was a difficult question.
