Introvert Uses Cheat Skills Gained From Another World To Save A Beautiful Girl.
I exited the classroom and ran through the school toward the rooftop.
I kept my speed within the limits of an ordinary high school student’s physical abilities.
There were simply too many eyes on me to unleash the superhuman speed I had honed in another world.
If many people found out about my cheat skills, it would definitely lead to trouble.
For instance, someone might approach me trying to take advantage of my abilities.
So, while I adjusted my speed to avoid drawing attention, the situation changed drastically.
Through Clairvoyance, I could see Hatsune was in danger.
An image flashed in my mind of one of the girls surrounding her pulling out a blade that resembled a sculptor’s knife.
(This is more extreme than I imagined…!)
I couldn’t afford to be leisurely about this any longer.
Seizing a moment when I was briefly out of view from the surrounding students, I activated another cheat skill.
Invisibility.
The effect was as literal as it sounded.
At the moment I turned the corner, my figure vanished from sight.
In that instant, I sprinted full speed without worrying about being seen.
It took me mere seconds to reach the stairs leading to the rooftop.
I could hear the conversation between Hatsune and the girls surrounding her.
“You flirted with the ace of the soccer team, yet you’re dating some unknown introvert? How audacious!”
“What do you think you are, fishing for boys?”
Hatsune was being subjected to baseless insults from five girls who appeared to be third-year students.
These girls seemed to be the ones bullying her out of jealousy.
They had cornered her against the wall, making it impossible for her to escape.
Each of them had flashy hair colors and makeup, the kind of loud personalities that seemed a bit rougher than the typical popular crowd.
“…”
Meanwhile, Hatsune maintained her usual composed expression, remaining silent.
It seemed her demeanor only irritated the bullies further.
“Chh! Why don’t you say something?”
“Your face is infuriating, so I’m going to hurt you so badly you’ll never be able to flirt with boys again!”
The blonde girl, who seemed to be the ringleader of the bullying, pointed the sculptor’s knife threateningly toward Hatsune’s face.
“Whoa.”
I deactivated my invisibility and stepped in.
Reaching for the sculptor’s knife, I felt it pierce deeply into my palm as the blonde girl swung it with considerable force.
“Huh…?!”
The blonde girl was astonished at my sudden appearance within their circle.
She instinctively let go of the knife.
“No, this is seriously going too far…”
I looked at the sculptor’s knife embedded in my hand, feeling a mix of disbelief and annoyance.
If that knife had been aimed directly at Hatsune, it wouldn’t have just left a scar on her face.
“W-What the hell?! Who are you?”
“Where did this guy even come from?”
“Isn’t this, like, super dangerous?”
The bullies were exchanging frantic whispers, seemingly realizing the gravity of the situation.
The knife had pierced through my hand, and blood was flowing out in significant amounts.
“Looks like it’s deep within. This could easily be considered an assault case.”
As I said this with a nonchalant expression, several of the girls went pale.
However, the ringleader seemed unfazed.
“Hah! It’s no big deal; my parents will take care of it. Did you know? My dad is a board member at this school and also a city councilor.”
I see, so that bold attitude comes from having powerful parents.
Hatsune’s struggles made sense now; it seemed her bully’s father had a significant influence in the school and community.
Because of that power, any complaints to teachers would likely be swept under the rug.
If it were just a minor incident where a student was slightly harmed, it could easily be brushed aside.
But…
“Your parents aren’t here right now, are they?”
I replied coolly.
The blonde girl visibly flinched, her bravado instantly fading.
I might seem eerie, standing there unfazed with a sculptor’s knife embedded in my hand, while half my face was hidden under my bangs.
And with someone like me indicating that I could retaliate right here and now, it was only natural for her to be scared.
“Tch… What the hell?!”
With a tongue click, the blonde girl hurriedly fled toward the rooftop exit.
The others exchanged glances and followed suit, leaving just Hatsune and me behind.
“Yakumo-kun, are you okay?!”
Hatsune was the first to rush over, her concern focused on my hand with the knife still sticking out.
“Yeah, I’m fine. This much is nothing. I’m the guy who can fall off the rooftop and be perfectly fine.”
I pulled out the knife, waving my hand lightly as if to demonstrate.
The wound was already starting to close up.
One of my cheat skills, Super Regeneration, made it easy to heal from injuries like this.
In fact, I could heal even if I lost several limbs.
I could have avoided damage altogether, but I decided to let myself get stabbed this time to scare my opponent.
“Are you some kind of zombie?”
“I may be an introvert, but calling me a zombie is a stretch.”
“Haha, true…”
Hatsune chuckled softly.
“More importantly, are you okay?”
“It was pretty dangerous, but thanks to you, I’m safe. Thank you so much!”
Her genuine gratitude made me feel a bit lighter inside, despite the bizarre circumstances we found ourselves in.
Hatsune wore a look of relief, and I felt a sense of accomplishment for having fulfilled my role as her bodyguard.
“But how did you know I’d be here?” she asked.
“Just a hunch…?”
“That’s definitely a lie.”
“Then let’s call it a corporate secret.”
“Fufuu. If you don’t want to say, that’s fine with me.”
She didn’t press any further, and I appreciated that.
After all, a beautiful girl like her looked much more fitting when she was smiling and having fun.
As an introvert, though, I couldn’t quite bring myself to say that out loud.
Still, seeing her smile made me feel a little lighter, even in the strange circumstances we found ourselves in.
There was something about her laughter that brightened the moment, reminding me that maybe this role of pretending to be her boyfriend wasn’t so bad after all.
