Chapter 85: Goblin Nest

Goblins in this world usually acted alone. However, sometimes goblins would gather together to form a group. These groups created a nest and then the goblins would hunt and capture human men, increasing their numbers even further. Since only female goblins could be born in this world, they had to abduct human men for reproduction. As how they managed to arouse those obviously unwilling men… It was said that there were plants that had hallucinogens and stimulants effect growing in various parts of the forest that could induce arousal forcibly in any living creatures. 

Female goblins and female orcs alike forced the kidnaped men to eat those plants for reproduction. Bandits and Dark Guild would often use the drugs made from those plants to abuse men sexually. Furthermore, apparently there were some magic spells that could make men feeling really horny. 

What a truly outrageous world indeed…

“The weapons and the armor are too high-quality for goblins. These equipment are probably stolen from people. Not to mention, the fact that they’re able to spare this many soldiers for an ambush party…. Most probably they’ve taken several men to their nest to increase their number.”

Just like what Elmie said, the goblins were not only using stone axes and wooden spears, but they were also using metal knives. Given their low intelligence, there was no way goblins could produce metal weapons. 

“If it’s true that they’ve kidnapped men, we need to act quickly before it’s too late.”

The men must be suffering both physically and… Mentally. If I were to get captured by those hideous female goblins and forced to father their children… Yeah, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration if I said I’d prefer death. 

“Goblins have high reproductive ability. That’s why adventurers like us are obligated to eradicate a goblin group or a goblin nest if we see one. If destroying the nest by ourselves is not possible, we must immediately report our finding to the Adventurers’ Guild.”

“Tia is right, but our top priority is ensuring Souma’s safety. We need to escort him back to Annick. I think we should prioritize getting Souma back to town and report our findings to the Adventurers’ Guild at Annick.”

I understand both Tia-san and Elmie’s perspective. Right now, my safety took precedence and even though a bunch of goblins wouldn’t pose any trouble for them, but there was no need for them to take any unnecessary risk when I was with them. 

However… If by any chance the men that got kidnapped were still alive, I wanted to help them if possible. Everyone here surely also shared the same sentiment as me.

“….I can use barrier magic and healing magic. At least, I can be useful as a support. If there’s the possibility of finding survivors in the nest, I’d prefer it if we could rescue them.”

Although I couldn’t fight, but I could at least provide support from the backline. Both Elmie and Tia-san’s group were A-rank adventurers and our carriage drivers, Paula-san and Ilei-san, were highly skilled at fighting too. They should be able to handle the goblins without any issues. 

Also, as a fellow man, I wanted to rescue them by any means possible. Though… I had to admit, the thought of venturing into a nest full of female goblins scared me a lot, considering my chastity would be at risk.

“It’ll be fine! It’s just a bunch of goblins! We will definitely be able to defeat them without any problem!”

“Yeah! We will help too!”

“Souma-sama, rest assured! We will definitely rescue the captured men!”

“Yes!”

Jerome-san and Runes-san felt the same way. We were all men, after all. Sure, the risks were there, but with everyone working together, we could definitely manage somehow!

“There are guards in front of the cave… That must be the goblins’ nest.”

After that, we immediately began searching for the nest. It seemed the goblins that we fought before were moving independently as a raider or scavenger. By following their tracks, we were able to discover their nest. 

It seemed the goblins had been using this cave as their base to attack people traveling on the nearby mountain road. This road was connected to the capital and several other villages, so this road had a decent amount of traffic.

“To be honest, I’m a bit nervous knowing there are a lot of goblins inside, but as long as we don’t keep our head cool and retreat when it gets dangerous, we should be fine.”

“Yeah, Tia is right. Let’s be careful. Don’t push it if it seems impossible. Paula, Irel, can you please stay outside the cave to take care of any goblins that return to the nest? It would be dangerous if we were caught in a pincer attack while inside the nest.”

“Yeah, leave it to us.”

“Understood.”

“Tia and I will be the vanguard. Ferris, please protect the backline.”

“Got it, leave it to me.”

“Flora, Runes, please support Tia and me with your magic.”

“Yeah, leave it to us.”

“Understood.”

“Souma, if anything happens to us, please heal us. Jerome, please keep a watch of the backline with Ferris.”

“Got it.”

“Understood.”

Elmie swiftly issued orders one after another, showing her proficiency as the leader of an A-rank adventurer party. Even though she was fighting together with temporary members, she was able to organize the formation based on each member’s strong point in a short amount of time.

Elmie swiftly cut down the two goblins standing guard at the entrance of the cave before the goblin could even scream. Elmie was able to move this fast not because of her job as a ‘swordsman’. In fact, a swordsman was a very common job. While her job increased her physical abilities and improved her swordsmanship compared to other jobs, but she was able to move this fast thanks to her own training. She had trained herself to the utmost limits, suffering through rigorous sessions. As a result, she was able to become an A-rank adventurer at such a young age.
