“Phew~ We managed to visit all the orphanages today~”

We somehow managed to visit every orphanage in the capital within half a day. The capital was big and naturally, they had more orphanages than Annick. There was one director that seemed suspicious, so I only gave them food and I didn’t donate any gold coins to them. I planned on reporting my suspicion to the knight commander later in hope they would conduct a thorough investigation on the director. If there was no issue, the knight commander would give their portion of the donation that I had withheld. 

We would be heading back to Annick tomorrow, but I would still keep in touch with the people in the capital and I also planned on visiting the capital on a regular basis. I could visit the orphanage whenever I visited the capital. 

“The children were so happy. I never knew what kind of life the children at the orphanage lived like before today. They were all so thin and… Their clothes didn’t look very nice either…”

“That’s just how it is. I also only started to donate to orphanages because I happened to meet an orphan girl in Annick.”

Just like what Camilla-san said, normal people didn’t know much about the lives of the children at the orphanage. Also, since I came from another world, I was even more curious to know the life at orphanages in another world. 

Even though we walked around the city all day long, but we didn’t get attacked even once. There weren’t any thugs daring enough to attack someone who was being guarded tightly like us anyway. But also, because of all these guards, we stood out quite a bit in town…

Camilla-san looked a bit disappointed though, given how eager she was to protect me on today’s excursion. Although I felt bad that Camilla-san couldn’t show her capability, but not being attacked like this was much more preferable. 

“Well then, Caroline-san. Thank you very much for everything today. I’m sorry for dragging you around all day.”

We safely escorted Caroline-san back to the royal castle before heading back to our inn.

Actually, after we finished our shopping spree, I had told Caroline-san to go back first since I only planned on visiting the orphanages after this. However, she said she also wanted to accompany me to the orphanage. Hence why I let her come along with us.
