ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
“Hello Deva-san. How are you feeling? I hope you’re feeling okay now.”
“Yes. Thanks to Souma-san, I’m all well now. Well, I still need to more rehabilitation before I can move around on my own though.”
Last night, I was so exhausted that I ended up diving straight into bed without eating dinner the moment I arrived at the inn. Tia-san and the others were very worried because we were back so late. I already told them that we’d be late because of some research, but it seemed they were still worried that something might had happened in the castle because I was home so late.
Today, Tia-san and the others hoped they could accompany me to the castle. However, we couldn’t possibly bring such a large group of people to the castle. And so, I apologized to Tia-san and the others and ended up only bringing Elmie and the others with me, just like yesterday.
Deva-san, the male miko, seemed to be feeling so much better now. He could sit up and talk while staying in bed. However, since he had been bedridden for so long, he still needed to undergo rehabilitation before he could move around properly.
“I was given a second chance at life thanks to Souma-san. I’ve heard that not only are you a male miko like me, but you also have extensive medical knowledge. I’m truly grateful that you cured me from romak disease. No one in this country could cure me, except for you, Souma-san.”
By the way, I hadn’t told Deva-san that I was actually a male saint. Only the king, Colette-san and all members of Blue Eternity knew about it.
I actually didn’t mind telling Deva-san. He seemed like a good person anyway. However, the other told me that it’d be best that I kept my status as a male saint a secret. Of course, that meant I couldn’t tell him that I actually came from another world as well. The king only asked me the permission to share this information with Colette-san, her prime minister. I told Deva-san and his attending physician that I had used a special medicine that only I could create to cure him.
“Oh, no. I’m just glad that you’re healthy now. The King told me that you’ve saved many people and how wonderful of a person you are, Deva-san. I’m truly happy that I could save someone like you.”
“Oh, no, no, no. I’m not that great. I’m just using the job granted to me by god to help those in need. I’m not wonderful or anything. I just happened to be blessed with the job, allowing me to help others.”
….Regardless if god existed or not, but I doubt most of the healers shared the same sentiment as Deva-san. Those corrupt healers could learn a thing or two from Deva-san.
“Even so, it was you, Deva-san, who chose to use the power from your jbo to help people. I heard from the King that you secretly treated patients without charging them if you knew they couldn’t afford it.”
“….To be honest, I’m happy enough if I have enough food and a roof over my head to live on each day. However, I can’t provide my treatment for free, given the presence of other healers.”
Indeed. He had to consider fellow healers as well. In my case, I didn’t need to worry about it too much since the only other healer around was that immoral healer.
But still, Deva-san was exactly like how the King described. He was a really wonderful person. A genuinely kind person. I was glad to know that even though there were plenty of bad people in this world, like bandits, Dark Guilds and those corrupt healers, but there were also many admirable people like Yuja-san from the potion and Deva-san.
“Once again, thank you, Souma-san. I can continue fulfilling my duties as a male miko. If possible, I’d like to show my gratitude to Souma-san-“
“Deva-san, please focus on your recovery first before treating others. As for gratitude, the King already rewarded me for my service. Ah, but… I do have one request, Deva-san. I’d like your help in testing the potion I brought with me.”
“Oh? Potion?”
I explained the details of the potion to Deva-san. A lot of things happened, but one of the main reasons why I wanted to meet Deva-san was to ask his help in testing the potion.
“Oh? These potions are reacting to healing magic?! If we can really enhance the healing effect of the potion with healing magic, that would be amazing!”
“Wait-! Deva-san?! Your health hasn’t fully recovered yet! You still need to rest!”
“Oops. My apologies. I got carried away. However, this is truly a wonderful finding, Souma-san. With this potion, we can help people who don’t have immediate access to healers! And if we can mass-produce this potion… There’s no doubt we will see a significant reduction in the number of casualties in dangerous jobs like adventurers!”
Ah, I was glad that Deva-san’s first reaction wasn’t about making money.
“Of course, I will be glad to cooperate! No, in fact, please let me help!”
“Thank you very much. However, please make sure to take care of your body first before you can do anything else.”
It seemed we managed to get Deva-san’s cooperation. Now that I had confirmed what kind of person Deva-san was, I could leave the testing of the potion to Colette-san and Deva-san in the capital. I knew I could trust them and it looked like I would be able to get along well with Deva-san.
