Chapter 3: What Kind of ‘Different World’ Is This?!

“Just like what Ferris said. Bandits are the worst of the worst! You guys are better off dead!”

“He-Hey Boss! Wait a moment! Those girls… Could it be they’re-!”

“Huhhh? What’s wrong?”

“……Here I go!!”

With a longsword in her hand, Elmie took up a stance and suddenly, Elmia-san vanished. No, to be precise, she looked like she had vanished before my eyes because of how fast she moved. 

“Urgh-!”

“Argh-!”

And then, the two female bandits were slammed into the large boulder behind them in an instant. 

“W-What, what just happened!?”

“Ugh!”

“Ahh!”

Both I and the female bandit boss were equally perplexed about what had just happened. 

“Elmie is so amazingly fast just like usual. It’s my turn now. Bind!”

“Wha-?!”

“What is this?!”

Flora raised her staff and suddenly, slithering chains appeared from under the feet of the four remaining bandits. The chains quickly coiled around the female bandits, effectively restraining them.

“You darn shithead! The heck? One moves stupidly fast like lightning, one can use powerful restraining magic. The heck?! Are you kidding me?!”

“One woman with superhuman physical abilities… Another with the ability to cast a restraining magic that can restrain four people in an instant… And a large woman wielding a big shield… Boss, these people are definitely that A-rank adventurers’ group, Blue Eternity!”

“What?! An A-rank party you said?! You idiot! You should’ve realized it sooner!”

“But Boss! You also didn’t notice it!”

Within a split second, four female bandits were knocked unconscious while still bound by chains conjured by magic. 

“The heck? It’s already over?! I don’t get to join in then!”

And then, there was one woman who didn’t do anything. Or, to be precise, there wasn’t any chance for Ferris to shine since the battle had ended before she could do anything. Still, I noticed that she was deliberately standing in front of me to protect me from the female bandits. 

“Phew.. It’s over. Let’s tie these girls up and hand them over to the city guards.”

“All three of you are incredibly strong. Once again, thank you for helping me.”

The female bandits said that Elmie and the others were an A-rank adventurer. I didn’t know how many A-rank adventurers were in this world, but judging from the way they fought, I knew they were really strong. 

“Don’t worry about it. If it were just us, I doubt they would try to attack us. In fact, it’s all thanks to Souma that we were able to catch these bandits. We’re the one that should thank you.”

“Souma was a good bait.”

“Oi! Flora! Don’t say things like that so blatantly!!”

Well, it would be all the better if I could be useful as bait. Now that they had caught the female bandits, at least the men passing through this road wouldn’t get attacked by them… Still, the fact that men could be attacked by women felt really eerie for me. 

“I’m glad I could be of use to everyone.”

I responded with the best smile I could muster up. Not only they had helped me with the slimes, they had saved me from the bandits as well. I really owed a lot to these people. 

“Hey, just as I thought, this boy is…”

“….Yeah, he’s incredibly naive. With that cute face of his, he’ll probably get approached by all sorts of girls in town.”

“….A naive tomboy. So precious….”

“I’m a little worried about him though…”

The three of them were whispering to each other, making me wonder if I had accidentally said something strange.

After that, we continued walking to the town with Ferris pulling the bandits with ropes. During our journey, I asked the three of them about various things in this world. 

It turned out the gender ratio in this world was about 1:3, with fewer males in general. Furthermore, it seemed women naturally possessed stronger physical and magic abilities compared to men. Hence why professions with higher risks, such as adventurers were predominantly filled with females. Most influential figures like the head of nobles were also mostly females. It seemed most men usually partook in less dangerous jobs like customer service, clerical work, cooking and cleaning, all of which didn’t require much physical strength. It was truly a world where the roles of men and women were the opposite from my original world. 

By the way, men in this world tended to avoid exposing too much of their skin and the females in this world preferred men with a gentle and refined personality. 

….Will I be able to survive in a world like this?
