Chapter 16:Temporary Treatment Center

“…What’s this?”

After finishing breakfast, I headed to the Adventurers’ Guild with the three of them, only to find about three times as many people gathered in front of the guild compared to yesterday. 

“Oooh! That’s the rumored black-haired angel! Whoa! He’s so incredibly beautiful in person!”

“I heard that you only need to pay 10 gold coins to get treated. They will even let you pay in installments! This boy is as benevolent as a god!”

“On top of that, he’s equally kind to everyone. He won’t let anyone cut in line, no matter how much money they offer! He’s nothing like that greedy healer!”

“I also heard that he treated over a hundred people yesterday! That’s more than five times what a regular healer can do!”

…It seemed the rumors were starting to get out of bound. I only treated maybe around 50 people yesterday. However, to think the rumors could spread this far without the existence of social media…. I really had greatly underestimated the information network in this world. 

“Healer-sama! I beg of you, please help me!”

“Please heal this injury!”

Things were getting bad. It seemed the people who didn’t hear what the Guild Master had said yesterday were starting to swarm us. Elmie, Ferris, and Flora who were in charge of guarding me immediately stepped forward. However, I was worried that their power might not be enough to handle this large crowd. 

“SILENCE!!”

Elmie shouted loudly as she thrusted her sword into the ground. Next to her, Ferris stood ready with her shield and Flora with her staff. 

“Fret not! Souma-sama will treat everyone equally! That’s why, please wait for your turn without panicking! Do not cause any trouble for Souma-sama!”

“Ye-Yes!”

“We-We’re sorry!!”

….Whoa… Impressive. Everyone who was trying to approach me immediately stopped dead in their tracks. Some even bowed down in apology. Although ELmie probably had some sort of intimidation skill, but I could clearly see she had more charisma than me. 

Thanks to Elmie, we managed to enter the Adventurers’ Guild without any fuss.

But… Wow… The three of them were so cool that I almost fell in love with them. 

“Oh! Souma-dono! Thank you for coming today. We’ll be in your care again today.”

Inside the guild, Thalia-san had been waiting for us.

“Area Heal!”

“Oooh! The pain disappeared like it was never there in the first place!”

“Mama!”

“Maru! Ahhh… The burn marks are all gone… It’s a miracle!”

“The wounds should be healed now, but please make sure to get plenty of rest for a while.”

“Thank you! Thank you so much!!”

Today as well, I treated the severely injured patients in the guild. Although I had healed all the severely injured patients who had come to the guild yesterday, but I still had a lot of severely injured people coming in. There were almost 20 people coming in. They probably only came today because they couldn’t be moved easily or because they had just heard about the treatment yesterday. In any case, I treated all of the severely injured patients who couldn’t afford to come yesterday. 

“Souma-dono, do you think you’re still able to continue with the treatment?”

“Yes. Actually, I was still feeling great too yesterday. Can you please bring me more patients to treat?”

“I see. Then, I will bring the next batch of severely injured patients in.”

“Okay.”

“Oh! My crushed leg is moving again! Thanks! Now I can work again!”

“Ah… My arm… My arm is moving again! I can swing my hammer once more! Thank you! Thank you!!”

“I’m glad you’re all healed up, but please make sure to rest your body for a while.”

“I will never forget this kindness!”

After treating those with severe injuries, so much so that they couldn’t even move, I started treating people who had lost mobility in their limbs due to monster attacks or accidents that caused their tendons to get severed. 

Among the people I just treated with Area Heal was a dwarf woman. In this world, it seemed women were the ones that forged weapons. She was a bit short, but she looked really sturdy. She didn’t have a beard though. 

As long as the limbs weren’t severed yet, it seemed normal healing magic could restore the mobility to paralyzed limbs. However, after treating patients after patients, I came to notice one thing. It seemed that healing magic couldn’t heal diseases. There were people whose injuries got healed by my magic, but they still had fever or persistent headaches. It seemed injuries and illness were completely separate things here. Fortunately, I didn’t get any patients with major illnesses so far.

“Alright, let’s call it a day.”

“Yes.”

Since I started treating people in the morning today, I managed to treat about 70 to 80 people. Thanks to this, I was able to finish treating almost everyone that had gathered in the guild. 

Although there might be more people coming in after hearing the rumor, but I doubt I would need to treat dozens of people in one day anymore. 

“A temporary treatment center is scheduled to be set up next to the Adventurers’ Guild by tomorrow. The number of patients should begin to settle down a bit, so please do the treatment there.”

Right. This was the Adventurers’ Guild. Having so many injured people visiting the guild everyday would definitely disrupt the operations of the guild. 

“Understood. I’m sorry for causing so many inconveniences to the guild. Especially since the guild even needs to build a special facility for the treatment. Since I’m the one receiving all the treatment fees, shouldn’t I be the one paying for the temporary treatment center?”

I had been receiving the full amounts for the treatments without any cut from the guild. The guild even covered the bill for the people that opted to pay in installments. The guild was also the one paying the Blue Eternity party to guard me and now they were even going to cover the construction costs for the treatment center. At this rate, the Adventurers’ Guild would be the one bearing all the losses without getting any profit. 

“Hahahaha! There’s no need to worry about that. The one who benefits the most from Souma-dono’s treatment is, in fact, the Adventurers’ Guild. Especially because Souma-dono is gracious enough to only ask for 10 gold coins.”

Thalia-san smiled before she continued on.

“Just in the past two days, we have had many adventurers coming in to get treated by Souma-dono. Those adventurers were unable to work because of their injuries. Now that they’re all healed, the guild will surely thrive from the influx of returning adventurers. Well, of course some may decide to retire completely from the trauma. That’s why, we’re truly grateful for your help, Souma-dono.”

“I’m glad to hear that. If I can be of any use for the Adventurers’ Guild, then I’m happy.”

Even so, the guild was still running at a loss for now. I hoped I could ease the burden of everyone at the Adventurers’ Guild, even if it’s just a little.
