After saying goodbye to Gain-dono and the others, we entered the Doubt city in the Azaman territory.

Although we were only separated by a gate, the atmosphere had clearly changed and it really stood out.

The lively and bustling streets and the brothels wrapped in glittering lights were shining brightly.

“This is my first time here, but it’s really flashy.”

Krish-san and Mei looked surprised by the atmosphere of Doubt city.

It’s been about a month since I last came here.

The last time, I was investigating a spy who had infiltrated from the Azaman territory, but this time, I came to find out what Cynthia was up to.

It’s a personal purpose.

“Doubt city is as lively as ever.”

“That’s right. I wonder how Honey-sama is doing?”

Ruri and Honey-sama have become quite close.

Since this is also the city where I met Ao, it might be a nostalgic place for both of them.

Thanks to Ruri’s teaching, Eris has been able to change her body shape. 

She had changed from a glamorous slime body to the size of a small fairy that could ride on my shoulder.

The townscape was filled with women in colorful outfits passing by, and lively voices were flying about.

We headed towards the spot Krish-san had noticed, where a crowd had gathered. 

Ruri’s words made me think of Honey-sama.

She’s a rabbit beastwoman who manages both the Doubt city and the pleasure district. 

Not only is she knowledgeable about the affairs of this town, but she was also an important ally who had given me a hint about the spy.

As we approached the place where the people were gathered, I could see Honey-sama in the middle.

“Huh? Salt-san! Ruri, you guys came~ It’s been a while~”

In a real bunny girl outfit, she knocked down about three drunk men and stomped on them with her high heels.

Krish-san and Mei were stunned by the sight of Honey-sama.

Ao and Ruri were used to this sight and didn’t seem too surprised.

“It’s been a while, Honey-sama.”

“No, I’m not married.”

After having boldly kicked and stomped the drunken men, Honey-sama now approached us with a somewhat bashful demeanor.

Although she had an elegant air about her moments ago, she now exhibited a cute, almost girlish charm, shining with a radiant beauty similar to Lana.

I was shocked when she could tell I was no longer a virgin.

I tried smelling myself, but I couldn’t really tell.

I guess I can’t compete with Honey-sama after all.

She smiled at my reaction and began to lead the way.

“This way, follow me. We’ll talk inside.”

We followed Honey-sama and went deeper into the brothel.

After passing through a corridor adorned with lavish decorations, we were shown to a quiet room.

The room was filled with the smell of incense, and had a calming atmosphere.

“Was what you did earlier okay?”

“Earlier? Oh, you mean those drunk guys? That kind of thing happens all the time. It’s practically a trademark of Doubt city.”

Honey-sama’s relaxed attitude made me laugh instead.

Krish-san and Mei were also used to rough situations, so they seemed to understand Honey-sama’s actions.

“More importantly, I’m really glad that Salt-san came.”

“What do you mean?”

“Recently, a strange illness has been spreading through this city. Even when the healers try to treat it, they can restore physical strength, but they can’t fully cure it. In other words, more and more of the courtesans are suffering without anyone knowing the cause.”

Honey-sama’s face looked distressed as she was thinking about the townspeople. I realized I might have to work as a Holy attribute healer again after a long time.

“What are the symptoms specifically?”

“At first, they feel feverish and fatigued, then a strange rash appears on the skin, and as it progresses, pain appears in various parts of the body. On top of that, it drains both their physical and mental strength.”

I felt a chill run down my spine as I heard that explanation.

This disease is not just a cold or the flu.

It feels like something more serious is lurking.

“Do you have any clues as to why it has become like this?”

Honey-sama shook her head in confusion.

“We still don’t know anything. The healers are having a hard time with it. That’s why we want to ask for your help, Salt-san.”

“I can’t do anything without knowing the cause, so I’ll look into it first.”

I answered firmly, and Honey-sama smiled with relief.

“Thank you, Salt-san. I’m counting on you again. Please, save us from this illness.”

Honey-sama seems more worn out than when we last met, with her makeup noticeably heavier. She must be under a lot of stress.

For now, since the healers were able to restore physical strength, I decided to walk through the city, looking for any clues that might reveal the cause of the illness. 

As we moved through the flickering lights of the city and the lively voices around us, I couldn’t shake the feeling that a deeper darkness was lurking.
