[Salt’s POV]

The Corias festival was drawing to an end, and fireworks were being launched into the night sky one after the other, shining brightly.

“It’s so beautiful.”

“Yes! I’m so happy I got to see the fireworks with you, Master.”

“It’s the best! The fireworks look so big, amazing~!”

Ruri, Ao, and I, the three of us, were looking up at the fireworks from up on high ground.

Lana had moved to the center of the festival to give the final greeting, and the Fourth Knight Brigade had been called in to guard her.

We were a little ways away, on high ground to keep an eye on Lana.

The festival was a hectic time with a dizzying succession of events.

But I was glad that everyone was able to finish the festival safely.

“What are you planning to do from now on, Master?”

“I’m planning to investigate the tomb in the Capital that Cynthia left behind. Before that, I’m thinking of going to the Azaman territory and listen to what Judas has to say.”

“I see, then we’ll be saying goodbye to the Corias territory for a while.”

“Yeah, if anything happens, I’ll come back right away, but after staying for a bit, I’ll travel from the Azaman territory to the Capital.”

Slightly surprised at how heavy a drinker she was, I drank the alcohol in my own cup as well.

“You’re as strong as ever, Freyna-sama.”

Freyna-sama shrugged with a laugh.

“At times like these I like to get a little drunk. It’s embarrassing when people call me cute.”

I smiled at her words and accepted another cup.

“Then let’s get drunk together today, Freyna-sama.”

I know that I always make mistakes when it comes to alcohol, but today, I’m starting to think that it’s okay to drink alcohol to enjoy a festival.

I had heard this morning that Lana-sama and Salt-dono had become one.

And from the investigation, it was clear that the miasma was fading from the Corias territory. This meant that Salt-dono would be leaving this land.

As we sipped, many thoughts were swirling in my mind.

If it were battle or work, I could act and think calmly.

Today being a special day, I felt like I could be a little more honest.

Every time Salt-dono said I’m cute, his words repeated in my head over and over again.

It was the first time I’d been praised like this, and an indescribable mixture of embarrassment and joy stirred within me.

As I drained my glass, I glanced at Salt-dono.

Feeling his gentle gaze fixed on me, my heart warmed.

“Salt-dono, this is not the first time I’ve had a drink with you, but today is a special day. It feels different from before.”

Salt-dono nodded with a smile.

“That’s right, Freyna-sama. Today is the last day of the festival, so it’s a special day.”

I nodded back and smiled, feeling a little embarrassed.

“I’m grateful to you. Not only did you save Lana-sama, you’ve brought hope to all of our hearts.”

Salt-dono looked a little surprised, but then smiled and answered,

“No, I just did what I could.”

He’s not just being humble, he truly believes that he only did what he could.

I always understood that his kindness was also one of his charms.

“Maybe it’s that side of you that attracts everyone.”

We emptied our glasses again, and the two of us drank even more.

“You’re not getting anything out of me even if you praise me like that.”

“…I’ll be honest with you.”

“Huh?”

“Salt-dono, when I’m with you, I feel a different side of myself than usual. I’ve never said this to anyone… I never thought I had such feelings within me.”

It was Lana-sama who gave me the push I needed.

“I’ve always had to be strong. I’ve always told myself to be a calm leader.”

“I see. I think you’re always dignified, Freyna-sama.”

“Thank you. I’ve tried to be that way. But when I’m with you, I feel like I can take off that mask and show you my true self.”

Salt-dono listened to me with a serious look on his face.

“The real Freyna-sama?”

“Yes, I’ve come to understand that I’m a woman too. Salt-dono, you’re probably going to leave without staying in the Corias territory. So, before you go, would you allow me to create some memories with you?”

If it weren’t for the alcohol, I wouldn’t have been able to say such things.

I felt so embarrassed that I could feel my face getting hot.

Still, Salt-dono nodded and accepted the glass, and the two of us toasted again.
