How to Handle a Yandere Harem - Chapter 9 - Demon of Knowledge
After an extensive period of investigation, Norisa and I arrived at a predictable conclusion: We were clueless about the events happening at the school.
Seriously.
We searched everywhere but to no avail. I’ll say it again. Nothing was out of place. Absolutely nothing was unusual.
Damn, this mission is proving to be a colossal failure. Our only option was to wait in one of the rooms at Sakura College — an empty classroom.
The room was exceedingly ordinary. Yet, for some unknown reason, it remained unoccupied.
“Adriel… what are we going to do? If this mission fails, I won’t achieve my goal. I want to move up in rank, Adriel. I aspire to be more popular with the girls…” Norisa’s speech took on a slightly more childish tone as he slumped into one of the chairs in the room, mumbling in distress.
“I’m not sure… I wanted to gain independence… but it seems our fate is to be entangled with my girlfriends and you… hahaha… don’t worry, you’re already popular with the boys…”
“You jerk… mocking my misfortune,” Norisa shot back, half-annoyed and half-amused.
“No… hahaha… I would never laugh at your expense…” I managed to say through bursts of laughter.
“You’re laughing right now, you idiot…”
“No… I’m not…”
“You moron… let’s settle this once and for all.”
Boom.
Suddenly, a noise echoed throughout the room, breaking our bickering.
“Was that you, Adriel?”
“Wasn’t it you?”
“No…”
“Damn, what was that bizarre noise?”
As we exchanged bewildered glances, the ordinary ambiance of the classroom began to shift into something more sinister. Shadows seemed to creep along the walls, growing denser as the light dimmed as if the room was absorbing every speck of cheerfulness. The air turned cold, and an unsettling silence enveloped us, broken only by the occasional creak of the wooden floor beneath our feet — a prelude to the nightmare that was about to unfold.
Suddenly, materializing from the thickening gloom in the center of the room, a creature emerged. “Hi, boys…” it greeted us in a deceptively cheerful tone that sent shivers up and down my spine.
The creature was a diminutive demon, its skin a grotesque shade of green that appeared to pulsate with life. Its eyes glowed a fiery red, casting an eerie light that flickered akin to hellish flames. Horns twisted from its head, and a wicked grin stretched across its face, revealing sharp, jagged teeth that promised pain. Despite its diminutive stature, the air around it thrummed with malevolent power, and the room itself appeared to warp and twist in its presence, completing the transformation of our once mundane classroom into a scene straight out of a horror tale.
“What… what the hell is this?” Norisa stammered, his voice trembling with fear as he clung to my side.
“Ah… that… sorry, guys… wrong novel. I always mix them up. The author of this one dabbles in so many genres that I, as the ‘Demon of Knowledge,’ get a bit muddled…”
With a hand wave and a mischievous chuckle, the creature’s fearsome appearance began to transform.
Its grotesque green skin softened to a gentle blue, the horns receded into a pair of scholarly spectacles perched on its nose, and its jagged teeth smoothed into a friendly smile.
The malevolent air dissipated, giving way to a curious and somewhat eccentric aura.
Now, it resembled a quirky librarian more than a demon, complete with a tweed blazer and a pile of ancient books floating beside it.
“…”
“Much better this way… Now, onto our topic… I’m the demon of knowledge, and well… guess what I peddle?”
“Knowledge?” I ventured a guess, still slightly taken aback by the transformation.
“Well… that too… but I was going to say opportunities… You ruined my joke. You’re sooooooo dense,” it teased with a roll of its eyes, the mocking tone thick in its voice.
“Get straight to the point,” Norisa replied, clearly unamused and eager to bypass the demon’s antics.
“Ah, yes… Issei Norisa… the Yaoi protagonist…” The Demon of Knowledge couldn’t help but add another layer of mockery to its tone.
“Damn you…” Norisa, visibly irritated, lunged forward, but I swiftly intervened, halting him in his tracks.
“Now, to get straight to the point… I came here to help. As you know — and now the readers know — I am the demon of knowledge. And well… I adore this story. It’s my favorite. Though there’s another one with a protagonist and better numbers, named something like ‘action fan’…” It continued, rambling with a gleam of amusement in its eyes.
“Get straight to the point…” I interrupted, cutting through the demon’s ramblings. It was clear he enjoyed toying with us, spinning words into a web designed to amuse himself.
“Well… as I was about to say before being so rudely interrupted, I came here to help you. I want you to succeed in this mission, and so I’m here to offer you a tip. What you’re searching for is linked to someone from Norisa’s past… a girl… Well, that concludes my role here… perhaps I’ll make another appearance in the future…” And with that cryptic hint, the demon vanished, and the room snapped back to its ordinary state as if nothing had happened.
Someone from Norisa’s past? He hadn’t met many girls… He hadn’t met any girl… Just… It couldn’t be… It’s her!
