- 40: Shay Versus Pestilus: part 2
These damn pest…
Pestering in my domain…
Taking what is rightfully mine…
Who do they fucking think they are…
With these thoughts appearing in Pestilus’s mind, he raised his hand and conjured and army of the undead. About a hundred stood between him and the intruding pest.
“Ruin them.” he said, and by order, the undead made no hesitation to march down on them.
Carrying swords and weapons of the like, these undead warriors were brewing with the emotion of wanting peace by death. Seeing it, Khali didn’t hesitate to conjure his own attack to take them down and put them to rest.
“…Holy Judgement of the Showering Rain.” by casting this spell, a magnanimously big magic circle appeared on top of the Demon and it rained down an array of light which quickly took out the army marching forward.
“Tsk.” being blinded by this attack, Shirley and Louis rushed down at the count with weapons blessed by Khali. Weapons merged by his own holy-mixed mana.
They intended to strike the demon, but to their shock, the demon was able to counter their attack by controlling the vines to strike at their direction. At the speed of a flying arrow, the vines made it impossible for Shirley and Louis to attack the demon.
Meryl casted her first spell. One that was unique to a fault.
“Depletion Chain: Mana link.” as she chanted this spell, a magic rune was placed unto the demon and it quickly depleted his energy, more specifically his ability to conjure mana. This was the same spell capable of tearing the Imperial Dragon’s strength in half when they were facing her and Odys back when the Imperial Dragons trespassed into the back of the castle entrance.
“Khk! What a nuisance, I never would have imagined that you would actually turn on against your own king!” said Pestilus.
“!?” and hearing this, Meryl looked rather confused. Thinking on that matter, she found it rather depriving of how nonsensical it sounded.
“You…What did you do with the king?”she asked in her voice who was caught surprised.
“Oh? Are you curious of that fool?” as Pestilus raised his staff, he pointed to one of the many faces sewn down into the staff he held on his hand. One particular face that made Meryl enraged.
In that sense of rage, she conjured an attack that was simply capable of a grade 8 mage.
“Depletion Chain: Blood link”
One of her strongest debuffs was casted upon the demon and to his reaction, a rune appeared before his chest and with it, he suddenly fell to his knees.
It was an ability that completely manipulated the flow on one’s blood. In this case, it made the human body’s circulation stop at her will.
It would work well with any human that was her target, but to her shock, the Demon simply raised himself from the ground as if unharmed by the attack itself.
“What? How!? That attack could have disabled his movement altogether.” said Meryl as she looked rather perplexed by the demon’s reaction.
“Hmm, do you actually think that blood runs in my veins? I am the count of pestilence…blood is not within my body…what only ever remains inside of my is the plague and nothing more.” as Pestilus said this words, all of a sudden, the temperature in the throne room changes and the people offending him suddenly felt a chill on their spine. Especially Khali himself.
“…This is!!” as quick as he could he immediately casted a spell that formed a strong barrier.
“Shirley! Louis! Get behind me.” said Khali as the two dragons tried taking their chances in handlign the demon. But to his call, they immediately responded.
With it, the count brought upon into the room an icy environment that completely devoured each wall in its frozen tandem.
-Blizzarding Plague: Zero Point Act.-
From the walls to the floors, nothing could escape the Demon’s clutch of ice.
This skill was a form of a corrupting dark magic that signified a freezing death. As once a man breaths in the spell of the Count’s magic, he will be devoured by the plague within the air that will slowly turn him to ice.
Luckily Khali was cautious enough to cast a healing form of spell that purified the very air coming his way. It saved him and the rest of the other fools who stood behind him. Knowing just who the demon was in front of him, Khali had figured out all of the attacks capable by the count. And it was only possible that he learned this because of his profession as a light mage. Hearing rumors and reports of all sorts of demons found throughout Astra, he made sure to remember their name and abilities to his heart. So once he learned that the demon he was fighting was the count of Pestilence, he was already prepared in everything to counter the bastard.
Pestilus had already casted this spell once back when he fought Shay, but to his attack, it never affected Shay once. Although Shay felt a shiver in the air when they first meet, it was never enough to completely kill him. And it was because of Shay’s blessing against the corrupted. Knowing that Shay was unaffected by it, he abandoned that skill entirely in their fight.
But with people who weren’t a variable to this skill, he had the chance to use it again.
There, as Khali was occupied by protecting the others from this freezing air of plague, it gave the demon the chance to attack. He raised his hand once again and his thorny vines made the response to rise from the ground and it launched itself down unto them.
“!!” Khali being occupied with the freezing plague, he tried to cast a barrier.
“!!” being able to quickly cast a shield, the thorny vines struck down and was able to hold him down on his place. Unable to move, Meryl quickly noticed and showed support by casting a buff towards his magic.
“Ascension Charm: Mana Charge!” Here, Khali was able to raise his shields and use his spell to keep the plaguing air from passing through them.
“…”
“…”
With Shirley and Louis being unable to do anything, they could only ever wait for a chance to strike.
‘If only we had someone who can use long range.’ thought Louis.
And all of a sudden, ten arrows fell from the above and struck the demon and both of his eyes.
Blinded and shocked, the demon shrieked in anger.
“!?…GaaaahhHH!!! who did this!?” shouted the Demon.
And out in the distance, four men were found entering the throne room.
Looks like we were late. Sorry about this.” said Alexander as he looked proud standing side by side with the others.
“You got free!” said Louis excitedly.
“!?” Meanwhile, Meryl was completely shocked by seeing the prisoners she had just recently locked up.
“…We’ll explain everything later, for now focus on the enemy.” said Alexander as he saw the surprised expression on Meryl’s face.
“…Right.” said Meryl.
There as Pestilus as writhing over the pain that the arrows had inflicted, it gave the chance for the melee dealers to take action. All six of the Imperial dragons immediately dashed forward with weapons on hand.
“Louis, Shirley, now is the time to retrieve the Princess. We’ll handle the demon, go and free her.” said Alexander.
With that, Louis and Shirley nodded and quickly jumped from pillar to pillar to reach the Prison Chandelier.
And as easy as it was, They were able to reach her without any issues at all.
“Princess, we’ve come to save you.” said Louis as he then quickly tries to beak the chandelier’s hanger with his mace.
*Thud!*
But as Louis swung at the glass looking Chandelier, the force of his attack wasn’t able to even scratch the hanger.
“Damn…its harder than I thought.” said Louis.
“We’ll do it together.” said Shirley as she brought out her sword and together, they swung at perfect unison.
*THUD!!*
But to their action, it still didn’t do much.
“Damn it, how can we break this thing?” asked Louis in frustration.
As they contemplated on what they were going to do, all of a sudden, a powerful beam of magic was struck at them, causing them to get hurt and fall from the ceiling.
“gah!”
“Kgh!”
Louis and Shirley fell in pain and as they fell, Tyson and Orion were able to catch them before they landed on the floors.
“Don’t touch her!” shouted Pestilus as he was enrage and brimming with magic.
Even to his attack directly at the chandelier, it did nothing, not even one scratch.
“Are you two okay?” asked Orion as they carried Shirley and Louis away from Pestilus’s range.
“Y-yeah, it just stings.” said Louis.
“…” Shirley was quiet as they were put behind Khali’s rear.
In the time that she had to rest, Shirley turned to where Shay was, checking up if he was okay, but to her surprise, Shay was nowhere hear beside them.
“Where’s Shay?” asked Shirley in distress.
And quickly, everyone near her noticed that Shay was no longer in his place.
Thinking of what might have happened, they searched at all the areas in the room. But to no avail, they could not find him.
‘Did he run away?’ Thought Khali.
And out in the distance, the Count watched as the group gathered in one place continues to struggle at his attacks.
He too, noticed that Shay was no longer in his place.
‘He must have fled, how cowardly.’ thought Pestilus.
He then turns back to Khali and he Grins.
“You can’t keep them safe forever.” said Pestilus.
“…” Khali watched as Pestilus then raises another army of the undead from the ground.
But with the extra hand given, the four Imperial Dragons were able to fend of the army of the undead. As they were being kept busy,
Pestilus then conjures another spell. There, on his hand was a black flame capable of tearing away the flesh of the humans in his command. One small touch of this flame and it well never turn off unless it is done by his command or by the lost of focus on his part.
“…”Khali felt the ominous feeling coming from that flame. Knowing so, he felt like he was going to lose all over again. Just like last time.
“Everyone, be alert!” he said, warning for the black flame that was to come.
With that thought, he saw as Pestilus raised his palm to their direction and knew that he was ready to fire.
Facing head front, he braced himself for what was to come. He prepared two layers of shields and Meryl backed him up by boosting his effects on magic usage.
Expecting to fire, he could hear his heart beat for each second that passes.
But it never came.
Instead, he heard an audible sound of a loud thud.
*THUD!!*
It echoed across the room and with it, the scene of a fallen demon layed down on the ground and on top of him was the sight of Shay looking ever so enraged.
There, on his hand was the sight of a sword that was similar to any sword found on any soldier. He placed the sword down on the point where the demon’s heart layed flat and he chanted a skill.
*Stab*
In that single action of skill, a tremendous force errupted from his hand and it forced the sword down unto the Demon’s heart.
That skill was a Grade B action made to pierce through with any flesh and bone within a person’s right as a life.
[STAB – A BASIC SKILL USED ON A THIEF’S EVERYDAY EVENT BY PIERCING THROUGH ANY ANOMALY OF LIFE. A SKILL OF THIS LEVEL IS CAPABLE OF TAKING ONE’S LIFE AT A 90% CHANCE OF SUCCESS. Here, Shay was able to grab one of the many swords that were dangling on one of the soldiers that came with Meryl Fage, and with it, he sneaked his chance into attacking the demon.
By making sure that everything was just right, he attacked at the perfect chance that made sure that the demon was unprepared for.
By there, as he was able to pierce down on the Demon’s heart, Pestilus felt the sensation of pain that only ever made him tremble.
The pain of death.
As he coughed up black sludge from his mouth from the attack, he stared at Shay as he stood on top of him.
“…” Shay could only ever look so cold at the Demon as he then pulls the sword away mercilessly and pointed it at the other side of his chest.
“!?” Pestilus looked shock as he felt fear even more so at this moment.
“You didn’t think that I didn’t know about your second heart, did you?” said Shay as he only ever stared at the demon with bloodshot eyes.
“!!” In that moment of statement, Pestilus felt cornered as his last heart was taken hostage.
“I know that only you can break that prison holding the princess…so make do with my order and free her.” said Shay.
He knew that the only way that the princess could be free was for Pestilus to free her himself. He knew this because of the All-Known Book giving him the answer to it.
“…” Pestilus stared at the boy with a flamed enraged gaze, and there, he raised his hand towards the princess and he chanted a magic circle unto it.
The chandelier fell from his chant and Alexander and Tyson were able to catch it before they landed at the floor. Safely, the princess was inside, unharmed.
“Now then, lets all meet death shall we.” said Pestilus.
And in those words, all of a sudden, the whole floor on the throne room started to break, like a rotting house falling to its collapse.
-Death Unravel-
In that moment of a chanting spell, everyone fell to their knees. From the princess to the Imperial Dragons and Even Khali himself, they suddenly felt weak all over. And their bodies were starting to rot as if they were corpses.
Only Shay stood unharmed as he looked confused by what just happened.
“heheheheheHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! What do you think! Isn’t it nice!” screamed Pestilus as he then spits on Shay’s eyes with his black sludge.
“!?”
There, being blinded for a second, it gave Pestilus the chance to strike him down. First and foremost, he aimed for the sword that was on his hand and he shattered it into its rusting form.
Left with no weapon, he grabbed Shay’s neck and he strangled him down to the floor.’
*THUD*
The strength that he pushed down on Shay caused the very floors to break and with it, he spoke to Shay in a soft voice.
“Like I said…I’m Death Defined.”
‘Khkkk!!” losing his air to breath, Shay tried to use his strength to push the bastard away, but to his strike, Pestilus still had the power to create a shield to block his punch.
“!?” surprised by this, Shay could only look to him in a troubled expression.
“There’s no way else to go but to your grave!” shouted Pestilus.
‘Fuck! What am I going to do now?’ thought Shay as he looked for anything to make use as an advantage. Turning to the Imperial Dragons who lies weakened in their place, he felt like they could not help him, but as he turned to Khali, he saw his expression…words of murmur were seen.
[your hands]
Is what Shay read from Khali’s mumbling.
And as he turned to his own hands, he saw that they were covered in what seems to be a mana reinforced spell.
It felt light and healing, making it almost like a holy grail of a miracle.
With it, he turned to face Pestilus eye to eye and he grab hold of his hands, strengthening his grip and pulling them slowly apart. There, Pestilus felt a burn from Shay’s hand and he notices that they were enchanted by the holy-mixed mana provided by Khali himself.
And just as usual, Shay was superior in the matters of physical strength against Pestilus.
Having to pull apart the hands that strangled him, he then took this chance to strike Pestilus down on his chin.
The punch was powerful enough to break through a wall, and with that kind of power put into his fist, Pestilus was pushed back with a burning sensation feeling his entire face.
Shay then took this chance to end it all.having made the higher ground of chances, he then beats the Demon with an endless array of punches. Each strike strong enough to punch through a wall.
And as each strike fell on the demon, his body felt the pain of being exorcised by those hand.
Having to fight back, Pestilus tried to breath out the same black flame as before like a dragon but it did nothing to the unstopping flurry of hits from Shay.

Through halfway on what was heard to be an unending strike, the rotting spell that Pestilus had put on the people of the throne room was already lifted due to his lost of focus.
There as soon as Shirley was able to gather her strength, She quickly made her way to assist the princess in her fallen manner.
“Are you okay princess Abigail?” asked Shirley.
“I’m alright.” said the princess as she remained looking pale from the rotting spell.
“we’ll have you get treated by Khali, please this way.” said Shirley as she then lead the princess to Khali to be healed.
But as they did so, they could still hear the continuing strikes that were made by Shay.

Like a martial wrestle giving no mercy on the ring, Shay continued to break every bone that was felt on the Demon’s body.
Unstoppable in his moment, he did not realize that on where he made his strikes, the floors that they were on were starting to break even more so. To a point that his fist and heavy strike created a crater of a hole.
He didn’t stop until to a point that Shay and Pestilus started going deeper and deeper into the hole.
But it didn’t bothered Shay in the slightest. After all, the Demon was still alive.
He could still hear him breathing.
He could still see him squirm like the worm that he was.

With his fist striking at repetitively strong forms, he did not notice that for each fifth strike, his bones would start to break but it would also instantly heal as if nothing happened.
And he continued…and continued…and continued, until to their notice, Shay and the Demon fell from the very floor to where they struck each other.
But even as they fell, Shay didn’t waste a moment where his fist would reach the Demon’s face.
And until finally, they landed on waters of unknown depth.
*Spursh!!*
But to Shay’s unaware action, he didn’t just created a hole, he destroyed most of the entire floor of the throne room, causing most of the other Imperial dragons to fall. Those of which were Bedever and Alexander and Orion. Shirley was able to escape but with the princess not being as agile or physically admitted as the others, she lost her balacne and she nearly fell into the hole, luckily Shirley was near her to catch her before she could fall.
Down below, as Khali looked down, he was amazed to find a whole body of water found underneath the kingdom. There, Meryl walked beside him and told him what it was.
“That down there is the Abandoned City of the Hearts Kingdom.” said Meryl.
“…” and Khali could only watch from his place as below it, the count of pestilence was still found breathing and alive.
“We have to go down there, the demon isn’t dead yet.” said Khali.
So without any hesitation, he jumped off of the floor and fell over about 300 meters of a drop from the ceiling.
“We’re ending this now!” he said as he falls down straight into the water.
