How to Create a Farm with the All-Known Fantasy Book - 25: Elaine's Determination
Elaine Percival, Wife of Vendigo Percival renowned for being the strongest there was in its lineage. Elaine since her youthful days, she cared for Vendigo more than anything that she had known in her life and when she came to give birth to her children, her love only grew even more.
One day, Vendigo who only cared for swordsmanship and the business of his family came to introduce to her a small flower pot with a blue flower planted on it.
She questioned him why he showed her this and to his answer, he smiled and said…
“Because its charming.”
And there it began his conquest to grow his knowledge on the arts of plantation. With the ability to shame any other farmer or botanist, Vendigo was a man loved by nature and was blessed with the ability to grow plants at an incredible rate…and Elaine was proud of this gift her husband possessed. The ability itself made the entire home filled with flowers and vegetation for any to wonder in amazement. Some wondered if Vendigo was never fated to even hold the sword and instead he should carry a seed instead. It was a inspiring rumor, but nonetheless, Vendigo was a talent to two paths, both sword and seed.
Unbeknown to Elaine, the time Vendigo spent on this hobby was actually his path to prepare himself under a mission sent by a certain goddess.
Through the years, he continued to cherish the moments he made in his home…and when it finally came to pass on the family responsibilities to his son, he made his decision…
He left, not telling anything to his children…not telling them the reason why he ever did such a horrible thing.
But he spoke his reason to his wife.
“I’m leaving…” with a somber tone and a sad expression plastered on his face, he spoke as if he was never going to return.
“…What?” and Elaine could only ever look with a face of distraught.
“…Its finally time that I leave to fulfill my purpose in life. To grant the wishes of my God.”
“I don’t understand…what do you mean by the wishes of a god?” she tried to ask for a clearer explanation.
“…all this time, I didn’t worship the Fate of Flames…I couldn’t relish in his blessings, instead…I came to worship a God who stood alone with a role to prosper the life all over Astra. A singular god responsible for the life of everything…”
“…”
“I worship Tellus.” as he spoke the name of this so called goddess, Elaine could only tilt her head in question of the existence of this God.
“…Who is Tellus? I have never heard of such a God in my life…and her title…the one who cherishes life? What does it mean?” she asked.
“I…I don’t have the right to explain but she calls to me…to my name and I as a Guardian must respond only to what is right.”
As he said this words, he stood up from his chair and made his way closer to Elaine…there, she responded in the fear of something happening at this moment. But She stood and faced him with the bravery only a wife could ever muster.
“…I love you Elaine.” as he spoke those words to her…she could not help but shed in tears as if this was his last words to her.
He leaned in closer and finally gave his last lips to her…
There in that night, Vendigo left the Percival house…never to return…not even to this day. And Elaine remained guilty of not stopping the man she loved.
Now, 40 years has passed since and to her notice, she felt a weird call to the wind. As if a familiar voice called out to her as she rested in her bed….
“…” she only stared at the other side of her room as she felt this whisper come to her ear.
And in instinct, she stood up and made her way to a certain room in the house. And looking in that certain room, she found a piece of item that could only ever belong to a certain someone who she longed for.
The sword hilt who stood in the hands of a man who was unfamiliar. She meet the eyes of this man who was similar to that of her beloved. In her heart, she felt a since of destiny within the man. A destiny as similar to her beloved.
There, hearing everything that happened when explaining the reason behind this hilt’s finding, she could not bear to hear the words that came out of his mouth. She fell and could only assume for the worst to happen to her beloved.
When she came to awake in her room, she found the sword hilt by her side. She could only assume that her son left this here for her to see.
As the silence of the room enveloped, she began to think back of what the boy had just told her…to find it stabbed in the chest of skeleton in the middle of a forest, she could not believe it. She refused to. She knows her husband is alive. He isn’t so weak to be killed in some random forest…that’s not who he is…
Determined, she left her room and made her way to wherever the boy was in the house. When she came to find him in the medical center, she had already made up her mind with everythign that she plans to do to get back her husband.
And it starts with actually testing the boy if he was qualified. Trusting her gut feeling of the familiarity between this boy and Vendigo, she had to simply get him to be tested in one singular passion.
A passion behind a blessing only her husband possessed.
She knew that if this was the same person who brought her the sword hilt, the thought to make her think that this was more that just a mere coincidence flamed her heart to move.
and with her authority, she called to him to follow her along .
There she brought him in one of the most special places there was to her, she tested him under her presumptions.
‘…If he really is someone who follows the same fate as Vendigo…then-‘ her desperation to find her husband after knowing some mere coincidence on some familiarity within the two clouded her judgement in actually being sensical.
But for without a doubt, he passed the sign of worth that made her move in the first place. Her assumption was right…and because of this…her hopes only grew ever more stronger.
Just like how talented and gifted Vendigo was in caring and making the seeds grow at an alarming rate, this boy was the same. And because of this similarity, she spoke what means to be under the destiny of the goddess, Tellus.
“…You have the potential to become a guardian.” she spoke.
With the time she had after her husband left…her despair over the lost of him made her curious over this so called goddess…
In her private time, she had made great efforts to find any sort of clue to who this Goddess was. And through the years, she had found only one major information…
*…She who grows the trees and brings life into balance. She who cares for the fabled life of Astra. She will only come to those worthy to be spoken of…in honor to guard her life to keep the balance. She will never be found, not to any who comes to seek her identity as a God. But know that she exist to fight the death that continues to rot the world…*
No one worships her because no one can….only she is the one who picks a life to become a follower. And the ones who becomes a follower is named a Guard of her life…reading this meant that Vendigo became one of the Guards that was worthy enough to honor her existence. And the only clue she came about the disappearance of his loved one was the “Death” that continues to rot the world.
And because of this, Elaine gave up. Because she could not do anything to the symbol of this God. She was not worthy and she could not find anymore clues behind this goddess.
“…” but now, the man who was as similar to Vendigo came to her doorstep. Which means that he is a man capable of leading her to Vendigo. Although she was shocked to find the information that the sword was found stabbed in a man’s chest, she believed that Vendigo was still alive. And Shay Winston was her only chance at finding him.

“…In time, you might find yourself at the choice to worship a goddess who will call into your ear. And If so, you must accept her blessing.” she said.
I could only stand and look rather curious as to why she spoke of some goddess…but in the end, I don’t really understand what was going on in the first place. I had to question her about this.
“…A Goddess?”
But in turn, she only gave me a look of reminiscence.
“Hmph, I was just like you too…in the past, I was ignorant of her existence, but in time…you will find out. I can see it in your eyes.”
“…”
“…Just be ready when it happens. And if it does, tell me if you can…I need to know something.”
“Madam Elaine, what is this all about?” asked Serena as she looked rather confused than I was.
“Serena, you must be shocked to find out that he has the blessing to nourish a seed in an instant…will you please offer me your help and assist him in his journey?” asked Elaine.
“…W-what?”
“Modelva Pharmacy…if I know correctly, your family has been rather uptight with the research conducting plants with unnatural healing properties. Examples like the Hail-Mary plant and the others. If you support him, then he might help you with the research you so need in advancing in the medical records.”
“What are you talking about?” I asked as I was getting more and more confused by the minute.
“…If you do not know about the Modelva’s then I will explain. It is urgent that you must find a way to keep yourself safe from any at all dangers that may come your way. I’m only placing you the information that you need to make the decision. If you accept each other’s partnership, they will secure you safety and you will secure them your blessing in nourishing certain medicinal plants. This goes for you too Miss Serena, will you accept the condition?”
“…”
“…”
Both me and Serena were silent after that.
Too much information was given that I could not understand all to well…in the end, I might have to rely on the All-Known book for the answer.
“…I don’t know. But if your blessing is truly real, then it explains everything about the Hail-Mary plant’s survival in the barrel of your wagon.” said Serena.
“…So you are already implementing your talents to the plants?” asked Elaine.
“Hold up, let me talk first.” I said as I didn’t want any more information piled up on me,
“First up is yes, I do have the blessing to cultivate plants to its greatest chance of growth…which is why I am becoming a farmer, not a Guardian or whatever you call them.”
“And second, I don’t think I’ll need the protection from the Modelva house. I’m perfectly capable of protecting myself against any danger. If anything, the Empire is already making the preparations to send a rescue team to save the princess in the Hearts Kingdom and I agreed to help them.”
“…I know.” said Elaine.
“Your strong and I can see that. But it is never foolish to accept a helping hand.” said Elaine.
“That helping hand will only work if its willing to help in the first place.” I said.
And so we turned to Serena with questioning looks, awaiting for her answer.
“I have to talk about my father about this…” said Serena as she looked rather complexed.
“Why did you even come here in the first place?” I asked as I didn’t really see any reason for here to visit me.
“I wanted to thank you, but it seems as though…things have been getting rather complicated.” said Serena.
“…” and I only stayed silent, feeling bad that I had to see her rather down in the dumps like this.
“…My Family is known for being quite talented in the works of medicine. We work hand in hand with the church of Aselius in healing the sick and through that, we were able to save many lives. Now my family is planning on advancing on the Medical Practices by applying even more holier plants like the Hail-Mary plant…but so far, we’ve made no positive advancements in the research. But if you were to come with me and show them your blessing, maybe we’ll have a chance at saving more lives…”
“…that sounds like a great cause…” I said, as I remembered back in my past world, doctors were a great resource in advancing the life of humans…it was the same here in Astra.
But as I stood to wonder back in my past world, I suddenly felt like something was wrong…as if something was coming my way…
And to my reflex, I turned to look outside a window…
“…” there, as if time has slowed down, a sharp 20 inch arrow was making its way directly down at the middle of face…
My body…it was telling me to move…to move and get out of the way….or else I might die in this very moment…
But I can’t…I didn’t think I could…
“…Ah.”
