How I Ended Up with an Extreme Yandere Landmine Beauty When I Asked to Hang Out with My Best Friend's Sister to Get Better at Talking to Girls - Chapter 48-50
Chapter 48: The Yandere Presence Creeping Up From Behind
Once we decided on the barbecue for summer break, I messaged Azuri on LINE and she was surprisingly happy about it.
I figured she might react kinda negative since things felt a bit off between her and Maki last time, but…
“Hey Ryoya! You doing good?”
“Oh, Shinichi.”
I was sitting at my desk with my phone in hand, chatting with Azuri, when Shinichi called out to me.
“Azuri told me you guys went to the amusement park. Was it fun?”
“Ah… yeah, it was okay.”
Even though it came up in our chat before, it looked like Shinichi really hadn’t known about the amusement park thing.
That just makes Maki’s behavior even more of a mystery, but… whatever, not important right now.
“Hey Shinichi? So we’re doing a barbecue over summer break with Maki and Azuri.”
“Maki and Azuri? That’s one hell of a lineup.”
Yeah, I was thinking the exact same thing.
“I guess you’re busy with soccer during break, huh?”
“Ah, sorry man. We’ve got the Inter-High, plus training camp and away games, so my schedule’s totally packed. Being a second-year means I’ve got responsibilities too, can’t slack off.”
“Yeah, I get it.”
“For real, my bad! If Maki and Azuri are both coming I’d love to tag along and help out.”
“It’s fine, it’s fine. We’ll manage somehow.”
Even as I said that… honestly, I wasn’t very confident.
Handling those three girls by myself at the amusement park last time was already tough enough.
At least I hope Maki and Azuri’s relationship has gotten a bit better by then…
“Hey Ryoya.”
“Hm? What’s up?”
“If you and Azuri end up in that kind of relationship, tell me right away~ The whole family will throw a big celebration for you.”
“Wha! No way! Azuri’s just my—”
“My what, exactly? Ryoya?”
Maki’s voice suddenly came from right behind us, perfectly timed like she’d been eavesdropping on our whole conversation.
W-why…?
“O-oh, Maki… nah, it’s nothing.”
“Hmm~”
“Hey, it’s Maki! Ryoya told me about the barbecue. I can’t make it, but you guys have fun, okay?”
“Yeah. No worries. My job is to make sure Ryoya has a good time.”
Maki turned those moist, intense eyes straight toward me.
This summer break is gonna be a handful in all sorts of ways… I can already feel it.

Chapter 49: The Moist Summer Break Plan
“Alrighty, it’s time to hand out the report cards~”
Summer. It was a season full of chaos.
On top of already being worn out from getting tossed around by Azuri and Mayana, we had end-of-term tests too, so I took my report card in a totally beat-up state.
And then summer break finally arrived.
I’ve never really liked the season of summer that much, but the thing that happened with Azuri at the summer festival was obviously during this season too.
It’s also the season where we met.
Thanks to those girl-training sessions with Azuri, I should be way better at talking to girls now, and this summer is the last one I can fully enjoy as a high schooler.
I’ve gotta make a girlfriend no matter what.
And besides making a girlfriend, we’ve also got the group barbecue planned, so I need to get the preparations done properly.
“Hey Ryoya? How’d your report card turn out?”
“Wha, what do you want, Maki? I’m not showing you.”
“Not ‘I’m not showing you,’ but ‘I can’t show you,’ right?”
“Ugh! Shut up.”
She hit the bullseye so hard I didn’t know how to react.
“Ooh! Ryoya, Maki, how’d you guys do?”
“I’m perfect as always. What about you, Shinichi?”
“I nailed humanities and PE too.”
Yeah, which means your science subjects are at rock bottom, huh.
“So, how about you, Ryoya?”
“L-look, I’m… just average, okay? In everything.”
As soon as I said that, both of them started giggling.
This same teasing has been going on since elementary school, so I’m used to it by now.
Compared to the two of them with their sharp talents, I don’t have any standout skills, so all I can manage is average grades.
But… that’s exactly why I decided I’m gonna get a girlfriend and live a fulfilling life.
Once I have a girlfriend, talent won’t matter. I’ll be able to be happy anyway.
“Alright… I’m gonna do my best this summer break.”
“Hey Ryoya, you’re all fired up. Are you signing up for summer classes or something?”
“I mean I’m gonna work hard to get a girlfriend! Even a plain guy like me can make one and be happy!”
I said that and started getting ready to head home in a cool way.
Now that I’d decided, I needed to get home quick and start planning out my summer break.
“Ryoya… happiness might be closer than you think, y’know?”
“Hm? Nah, I’m—”
“It might be, right?”
Maki came right up close to me and waved her top-of-the-year report card in my face.
Wha… what the heck, Maki.
Is this some kind of harassment?
“A-anyway, I’m definitely making a girlfriend this summer break! Just watch me, you two!”
I threw that line over my shoulder and headed out of school.
Maki looked like she still wanted to say something, but I just need to do what I have to do.
I’m gonna make this the best summer break ever.

Chapter 50: Summer Break With The Yanderes ♡
I’d made up my mind that this summer break I was definitely gonna get a girlfriend, and I was all pumped up… or so I thought.
“…There’s, like, no way to meet anyone!”
It was only the third day of summer break when I realized this fatal problem.
Zero encounters.
Just like how the biggest issue in Japan’s declining birth rate is “lack of opportunities to meet people,” I was starting to feel the same crisis — I had literally no chances to meet anyone.
When I really thought about it, I wasn’t even part of any community where meetings could happen. I just hung out with my usual childhood friend group and had never really connected with other friends or the opposite sex.
I wasn’t in any club, committee, or after-school activity. In other words, I didn’t even have an environment to create new encounters.
“Nah, I already knew that deep down. But I still kinda thought something would come up!”
Passive young people, exactly the problem with the birth rate… wait, none of that matters right now!!
“This is bad. If things keep going like this, every summer break is gonna stay exactly the same.”
At the very least, I gotta make a girlfriend before the summer festival and go there together!
Summer festival… oh yeah, now that I think about it, the time Azuri and I met in the past was also at a summer festival.
Making a girlfriend is important, but I still can’t remember what happened that day at the festival, and I thought I’d get the details from Mayana who claims she remembers everything, but I still haven’t asked her.
“So for this summer break, my goals are gonna be making a girlfriend and trying to remember what happened with Azuri. I’ve gotta work hard on both.”
With that decided in my heart, I figured I should start taking action.
Either way, the only one who clearly remembers that summer festival is Mayana, so I have to meet her and ask.
“Then while I’m at it, I’ll make plans to hang out with Mayana… and maybe she could introduce me to some cute girls from her fancy all-girls school…”
I was already scheming to solve all my summer goals through Mayana.
Wait, no, relying on her that much is probably too much.
Maybe I should ask Azuri to introduce me to some girls instead?
That could work, but how many friends does Azuri even have?
She’s always smiling nicely in front of me, but her face gets scary around Mayana and Maki, so I can’t really picture her having great relationships with other girls.
“In that case, maybe the quickest way really is to ask Maki, like everyone’s been saying for a while.”
But even if I get a girlfriend through Maki’s introduction, it somehow doesn’t sit right with me.
It would feel like it’s all thanks to Maki, and I wouldn’t be able to genuinely celebrate it myself.
“Aaah! Then what the heck am I supposed to do!? Am I being too selfish!?”
I was aware I was being selfish, but for now I tried to calm down.
“First priority should be meeting Mayana one-on-one and asking about the summer festival. I’ve been putting it off forever.”
With that thought, I immediately picked up my phone and called Mayana.
“Ah, Mayana?”
‘…Ryoya-senpai, what’s up?’
“No, I was thinking maybe we could meet up, just the two of us.”
‘…Heh, my win.’
“Win? Win what?”
‘Never mind, that’s my business. Anyway, if we’re meeting alone, how about the café in front of the station?’
“Y-yeah, sure.”
And that’s how I ended up making plans to meet Mayana.
Finally… the memory of that summer festival day when I saved Azuri… might come back to me.
