Home Date? No, I'm Cooking At Her House For Some Reason - Chapter 4
May 18 (Wednesday ) Consultation with a Friend…
Hattori Side
This is the first day at school since we started dating…
Since almost no one around us knows, it’s still a bit embarrassing to talk with Okada-san in the classroom.
I decided to chat with my usual friends until HR.
Of course, they know about it and will probably tease me…
“Hey, you didn’t come back after that, did it go well?”
“Oh, sorry I didn’t help with the cleanup. Yeah, we are going out. We went to see a movie yesterday, had lunch, and talked.”
I told them that we went to watch a popular anime movie and that we had lunch and talked over tea afterwards.
Yamada laughed and teased me.
“Ehh, that’s great. So, are you going to prioritize Okada-san from now on? Is this the end of our friendship…y-y-you.”
“Of course not. Saturdays are still mostly reserved for hanging out with you guys. Sundays are set aside for Okada-san, but if we plan to hang out overnight or something, we’ll have to discuss it with her.”
As I said that, Yamada and the others looked dumbfounded and then spoke to me with apologetic expressions.
They don’t usually make that kind of face.
Are they actually worried?
“Is Okada-san okay with it being like that?”
“She said Sundays are fine for us to hang out, and she hasn’t said no to anything. Besides, it’s still kind of a trial phase, so if we end up dating for a long time, we’ll probably have to adjust things gradually. If that happens, I might really have less time to hang out with you guys. Okada-san also has her own friends, so she needs time with them too. Isn’t it just right?”
“Are you a considerate boyfriend or just being practical with time management…?”
“It can’t be helped if our plans suddenly conflict with each other and we end up fighting, right?”
“I guess so.”
Honestly, we don’t know what to do and are trying to figure it out, so if something’s not okay, I won’t know unless Okada-san tells me.
Maybe a bit of conflict and arguing would help us understand each other better.
I don’t know how much arguing is okay, though.
“Since it’s my first time dating her, it’s better to decide on some things beforehand, right? Well, if Okada-san says she wants to hang out on Saturday, I’ll prioritize that though.”
“I knew it, we’re getting ditched after all.”
“””Ahahaha.”””
But he also told me to “try hard to understand.”
I’ll try, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to understand it.
Okada-san Side
I’m also talking about it with my friends…
“I heard you had a date yesterday, right?”
“Yeah, we watched a popular movie.”
“””Ohhh… and?”””
Yoshimura-chan and the others were very interested and asked.
But I’m not confident enough to talk about being lovey-dovey with him.
“And? What do you mean?”
“Well, I mean, what did you do on your date?”
“We watched the movie, had lunch, and just talked over tea.”
Even if I tell them everything, it doesn’t seem to satisfy them.
Talking in more detail is too embarrassing.
“We talked about the movie, plans for future hangout dates, summer vacation, the upcoming midterm exams…”
“Future hangout dates?”
“Hattori-kun hangs out with his friends after school on Saturdays. He said he was free on Sundays. I think it’s good because we can hangout for a long time on Sunday.”.”
“Hmmm, what if we say we want to hang out on Sundays?”
“He said it’s okay to prioritize my friends. He even said he could carry our bags if needed. We’ll have to discuss the details.”
“He’s quite a gentleman, or rather understanding…what do you think of Hattori-kun?”
She seems to have doubts about Hattori-kun, who appears to prioritize me too much.
But it’s our first time dating, we don’t know what to do…
“He’s kind, and I feel like he thinks a lot about me, which makes me happy.”
“Well, it’s his first time dating a girl, so I guess he’s being nice to you.”
“That’s right, he wouldn’t suddenly do anything like brutal play or neglect play.”
“Nabe (Watanabe) is saying weird things again…it seems like there’s something strange going on in your head…”
“Hattori-kun wouldn’t do something like that. He helped me out a lot during the school festival and took care of me.”
“Well, let’s leave aside Nabe’s words and actions…”
“Yoshimura-chan’s neglect play.”
I listened for a while as Nabe-chan started saying strange things again and got into an argument with Yoshimura-chan.
But then the topic shifted back to upcoming plans; moreover, it’s a study session before the midterms.
Besides the regular study sessions with Yoshimura-chan and Nabe-chan.
“What about the midterm exam? Is he going to help you study before the test?”
“It seems like he doesn’t spend much time studying normally, so he has time to teach. It seems to vary by subject, but he averages over 80 in all subjects. His Japanese isn’t very good though.”
“Seriously, isn’t that pretty good… Kyo-chan, why not let him teach you?”
“Yeah, wouldn’t it be better that way?”
“Shall we all ask for his help?”
“Suddenly, that’s a bit…… let him teach Kyo-chan first and if it looks good then we’ll join too.”
So, shall I go to a study session with Hattori-kun next Sunday?
Where should we do it? It might be too much to invite him to my house, right?
Then Yoshimura-chan asked with a serious face.
“Did you ask him about his preferences?”
“I asked a little when I confessed, but not in detail. He said not to worry about his preferences. I was told that he likes my legs. Ahaha.”
“You shouldn’t worry about Hattori-kun’s preferences? Even if Kyoko’s appearance might not match Hattori-kun’s preferences, shouldn’t you worry about it? … Why not try to match his preferences a bit? Adjusting hairstyles or clothing a bit, if it suits you, wouldn’t that be fine?”
“I’ll give it a try… there’s an app for that, right?”
“Now that I think about it, there was one… let’s have fun with that… hehehehe.”
“Then, I’ll ask him about it during the study session.”
Besides the study session, I now have the mission to confirm his preferences…
I’ll talk to him after school.
After School……
As I was getting ready to leave, Okada-san came to my seat and took me away again.
I waved lightly to Yamada and the others and walked out of the classroom, their voices behind me.
“”””See you, take care.”””
We went to a less crowded area and started talking.
I wonder if her friends said something to her?
“Okada-san, did your friends say something?”
“A little. They said you prioritize me a lot.”
“Is that bad?”
“It’s not bad, but they said since it’s our first relationship, it’s understandable.”
“Yeah… I’m not sure what the right balance is, but we can adjust as we go.”
“That’s right. I’m also unsure how much time to spend together…”
Since it’s our first relationship, we’re both uncertain and awkward.
But since we’re dating, we want to see each other as much as possible.
Even if we don’t have specific plans…
“What about next Sunday? As I mentioned before, we could have a study session since exams are coming up. I’m okay with just hanging out too.”
“I don’t really want to study… but if my grades drop, I might not be able to hang out… Where would the study session be?”
“How about the library? There should be places to eat nearby.”
“Can I let you know tomorrow?”
“Sure.”
I told her about my friends’ joke that “they’re getting ditched,” and we both laughed.
It was getting late, so we decided to head home.
“Shall I walk you home today?”
“Thank you. Do you have any plans?”
“I’m going to buy some books and do homework.”
“What book?”
“A computer magazine and an ero manga.”
“Really?”
“What do you think? Hahaha.”
As for the ero manga, I’m not sure if I’ll actually buy it.
