Hey, Best Friend. How About A Kiss Today Too? - Chapter 34: "...MMmm~~!?"
“…MMmm~~!?”
This was the second time I had embraced Sagiri, my childhood friend, on my own initiative.
Strictly speaking, there might have been more occasions.
But the only memory that vividly remains etched in my mind is the one overwhelming memory from our childhood…
“However… you and I are friends…”
“We’ve even kissed… don’t you get it yet?”
The dialogue from the horror movie still lingering in Sagiri Eyes seemed oddly fitting.
“…Do we need to continue watching the movie?”
But what came out of my mouth was a desperate attempt to escape.
At this crucial moment, words different from what I truly felt slipped out.
“I don’t want to watch…”
In response to this misplaced question, my childhood friend shook her head.
She’s the one who initiated this, yet she’s so selfish.
Yes, that’s Sagiri.
Selfish, self-centered, always pulling people around, showing her innocent smile, my precious… best friend.
“I can’t watch…”
Her arms wrapped around my neck, and there was her face, flushed with heat, looking up at me.
Her perfectly shaped eyebrows, long eyelashes, gentle eyes, high nose, and luscious lips, everything was right in front of me.
It felt exclusive only to me.
Not a movie meant for everyone, but Sagiri’s true face that only I knew.
“I see…”
I couldn’t come up with anything as clever as the lines from the movie’s protagonist.
All I could do was pull her slender waist closer to me.
“…”
“…”
No words came out.
What do you even say at a time like this?
At crucial moments, my mind goes blank. All I can do is stare at her face.
“…Hey, best friend.”
And when words failed to come out,
“What is it, best friend?”
It was always Sagiri who spoke.
I said I’d become stronger to protect my frail childhood friend, but she’s always been the one leading me.
I found solace in that and leaned on her.
Even now, it’s the same.
“Today, too… let’s…”
A kiss… it would be gauche to put it into words.
We’ve kissed countless times. Today is just an extension of that.
An unspoken agreement.
A secret reward.
A secret shared only between us.
No matter how carefully chosen the words, the feelings hidden within remain unchanged.
We’ve already reached a place from which there’s no turning back.
Both Sagiri and I… we want this.
There’s no longer any question mark about whether the other agrees.
“Sagiri…”
“Helena…”
I never expected the movie and the dialogue to coincide like this.
It seems reality doesn’t always go as smoothly as in movies. But at this point, with this level of interference, there was no stopping me anymore.
The hand that had been around her waist reached out to Sagiri’s beautiful face.
“Eeeee~~…”
With just that, Sagiri squirmed as if tickled.
But she didn’t pull away. Instead, she leaned in, closing her eyes like a cat being petted.
“…Ah…”
Her adorable gesture made my breath catch.
For some reason, it made my chest feel tight and… achingly painful.
“…MMmm~~!?”
I found myself kissing her.
The sighs and moans weren’t mine; they belonged to Sagiri.
After being put off all day, this was the one kiss I sought from my best friend.
It tasted like a grape soda left on the table… incredibly sweet and exhilarating.
