Hey, Best Friend. How About A Kiss Today Too? - Chapter 0: Prologue
“Hey, Best Friend. Wanna Kiss Again Today?”
“Hey, best friend. Wanna kiss again today?”
While pulling on the school uniform tie forcefully, she looked up at my face.
Her name is Yakumo Sagiri. She’s a second-year high school girl. And, without hiding anything, I am Akahori Renji, her childhood friend from way back, the one and only existence I can call her best friend.
“Hey, still nervous, by any chance?”
Saying that, my best friend smiled. That smile undoubtedly has the power to make boys around the world skip a beat.
Sagiri is popular. In any case, she’s popular. She’s so popular that she’s called the most beautiful girl in the school.
“I get all shy when you stare at me like that.”
The way she casually plays with her long, naturally light-colored hair is charming. In addition, her delicate eyes, faintly peach-colored lips, and skin so fair it borders on frail combine to create the ultimate beauty.
And it doesn’t stop there; her figure is good, exceptionally good. Tall, long-legged, with a slender waist, and a well-endowed chest.
“Oh, were you thinking something naughty just now?”
And the pinnacle is her personality. Despite being a childhood friend with a quiet and mysterious impression, it’s not entirely true. Rather, she’s talkative, loves chatting, and is incredibly talkative. She loves jokes, is tolerant of silly jokes, has a sense of humor, and can get along with anyone.
Talking to almost anyone she meets for the first time produces an unconsciously displayed natural charm, creating a surprising gap in her inherent bewitching nature, which is my childhood friend.
“We’re best friends. That’s all I understand.”
With this, there’s no reason not to be popular. With a blessed appearance like a fairy, looking mysterious from a distance, and being an enjoyable presence you can talk to without hesitation when you get closer… It’s no wonder she’s called the most beautiful girl in the school. As a childhood friend… no, as a best friend, I’m proud.
“So, what’s your answer?”
And then, that beautiful girl’s face was right in front of me. I’ve been accustomed to her approaching beauty since childhood, but the more I see, the more conscious I become. No, it’s more accurate to say I’ve been made aware.
“Your face is all red. Best friend?”
Sagiri calls me her best friend. No matter how my heart races, for her, this is just a tease, not even a warm-up.
“The blushing face of my best friend is cute.”
Because the real thing is yet to come.
“Give me a break…”
Finally, the words I could utter were a surrender, a white flag.
“I couldn’t help it… when I saw my best friend’s face.”
Yes, best friend. Sagiri and I are best friends.
“Okay now?”
Looking into each other’s eyes, confirming the position of my lips that she must have memorized by now, Sagiri gently closed her eyes.
I’m taller. To close the distance and reach, the tie is pulled.
“Mmm.”
A kiss. Just the touching of lips. That’s what’s happening in the classroom after school.
I like Sagiri. I’ve fallen for her. But she only sees me as a best friend. Yet, we kiss every day. Because we’re best friends.
How did it come to this? Well, it started on a hot summer day, with those clichéd words. From the day my childhood friend, whom I thought of as a best friend, became an actual ‘best friend,’ it began—a relationship that stayed the same but somehow changed. That’s my best friend.
“Hey best friend, shall we do it again?”
And today too, my best friend and I shared a kiss.
