Chapter 37: Update Milena-san-san on What’s Happened!
After returning to our home country, having accomplished our goals, I found myself at the Adventurers’ Guild alone. Despite the excitement of the past two days, I was here to give Milena-san an update on our recent activities.
“Hello, Milena-san.”
“Adin-san!”
Even though it’s not unusual for Milena-san and me to be apart for a day due to my training, both Aria-san and Shuteridone-san were absent yesterday, which might have worried her a little. I came to greet Milena-san and update her on what happened over the past two days.
Milena-san’s face lit up with a smile as she approached me.
“Yesterday, neither you, Aria-san, nor Shuteridone-san were at the guild. I understood that Aria-san was accompanying you for your training, but I was concerned when Shuteridone-san-san wasn’t here either since she’s been taking quests daily. Did something happen?”
It seemed she had been worried about us. I explained to Milena-san that there had been a strong magical response in Shuteridone-san’s homeland, which led us to investigate the cause. I also told her about encountering Etenera, a high-ranking member of the Demon King’s army who turned out to be a kind person, and how we enjoyed some time at the Safety Ocean.
“I see, so that’s what happened… It’s hard to believe that the succubus from the Demon King’s army is someone kind by just listening about it…”
“Even my master thought I was being brainwashed by Etenera-san, just because I wanted to protect her.”
“That’s understandable. While you’re skilled in combat, your experience in quick decision-making may not be as developed due to not going on as many quests. Considering Etenela-san is a succubus who excels in enchanting men, Aria-san might have feared she was manipulating you.”
…Hearing this made me realize that Aria-san’s anger was probably justified. It was comforting to know that she cared about me so deeply. Thanks to Milena-san, I gained more insight into Aria-san’s feelings, which made me happy.
“Thank you, Milena-san!”
“I didn’t do much… By the way, Adin-san.”
“Yes?”
Milena-san leaned closer and looked at me with a slightly pouting expression.
“Why didn’t you invite me to the Safety Ocean?”
“Eh? I mean, even if I had sent a letter before going to the Safety Ocean, it would take hours to reach here—”
“That’s not what I mean. When you were planning to go to Shuteridone-san-san’s homeland, you knew you’d visit the Safety Ocean afterward, right? You could have invited me then.”
“…I’m sorry. It was so sudden at the time that it didn’t occur to me.”
“I won’t forgive you.”
“Eh!?”
Milena-san puffed out her cheeks and turned away from me. I felt a bit troubled; I wanted to stay on good terms with Milena-san.
As I pondered what to do, Milena-san continued speaking without looking at me.
“Just a thought, but if you were to go out with me sometime in the future, it might help me get over it.”
“Go out with you, Milena-san? Alright, let’s plan to go out together.”
“Eh, really?”
Milena-san, who had been avoiding my gaze, immediately looked at me with interest.
“Yes, I think it’s a rare opportunity to spend time with you.”
“Adin-san…! If that’s the case, I’ll forgive you!”
“I’m glad.”
After finishing my greeting with Milena-san, I returned to my lodging and prepared to go out with Milena-san the next day.
