- Chapter 3: Let\'s Form a Secret Relationship with the Receptionist!
Episode 3: Let’s Form a Secret Relationship with the Receptionist!
One day, I wore the first set of clothes that Aria-san had bought for me. Aria-san mentioned she had some business to attend to for the day, so I came alone to the adventurer guild and looked at the quest board… Sometimes I have days like this.
“…”
As I was staring at the quest board, a woman approached me.
“Adin-san, are you looking at the quest board again?”
“Yes.”
The woman who spoke to me was Milena Mirias, the receptionist at this guild. S-rank adventurers usually have a dedicated receptionist who handles their quests and communicates any special quests or tasks specifically tailored to them. Milena-san is Aria-san’s assigned receptionist. She’s an elf, who’s known for their long lifespan, she had golden hair and a beautiful face that left me surprised when I first saw her.
“I’ve noticed you and Aria-san training together sometimes. But I didn’t think that you would lose to a slime.”
“But if my mentor says that’s the case, then it must be true.”
“Adin-san, you trust Aria-san a lot.”
“Yes, she’s my mentor after all.”
As I said that, Milena-san seemed to hesitate before speaking again.
“…Adin-san, to become an S-rank adventurer’s receptionist, you need to have a certain level of ability. In addition to advanced administrative work, it’s said that you have at least a B-rank adventurer’s strength. Did you know that?”
“Eh, is that so?”
“Yes, and I believe I have the necessary skills. So, when Aria-san isn’t around, I can teach you some magic and swordsmanship… What do you think?”
I hadn’t been using my time effectively when my mentor wasn’t around, usually just doing physical training alone, so it would be helpful to receive such training, but…
“Are you okay with your reception and administrative work?”
“I’m not at the reception every day, and I’m confident that I’m faster than any other receptionist in administrative work, so don’t worry… However.”
“However?”
Milena-san leaned in close to my ear and whispered.
“This will be our little secret, as Aria-san might get angry if she finds out, okay?”
“Yes!”
And so, I entered a secret relationship with Milena-san. Just after Milena-san moved away from my ear, the door of the adventurer guild swung open, and Aria-san walked over to me. Her errand was probably finished.
“There you are! Adin-kun… and Milena?”
“Hello, Aria-san. Are you done with your errand for the day?”
Milena-san asked with a smile.
“It was a simple task, so I got it done… Milena, didn’t I tell you not to get too close to Adin-kun?”
“I don’t agree with your reasoning, so I decided to forget about it.”
“Eh, did mentor say something like that? Why would she…?”
As I asked, Aria-san pointed at Milena-san and said.
“Having an elf with such a figure around Adin-kun would be bad for his education!!”
Milena-san, who simply smiled and replied.
“Are you complimenting me for being attractive? But if we’re talking about figures, I think Aria-san is attractive too, you know? With fair skin, a toned body, not overly muscular because you mostly use magic, with soft skin, and your chest is large and well-shaped for a human.”
As Milena-san said that, I felt a surge of magical pressure… Aria-san was emitting a strong magical aura from her entire body… Then, Aria-san calmly said.
“Milena, be careful not to embarrass me in front of Adin-kun. Remember, I can erase this guild at any time.”
…Aria-san seemed calm, but her intimidating aura was quite scary. This was the first time I’ve seen this side of Aria-san. Besides not letting me go on quests, Aria-san had never shown any side to me other than her usual kind. …Even as an S-rank adventurer, Aria-san can be quite terrifying when she’s angry. She’s like a completely different person in that state. I could only stand there and stare at Aria-san, whilst being unable to do anything to resolve the situation.
“…It seems that our precious Adin-san is a little scared of you right now.”
“…Eh?”
Milena-san said that to me, and Aria-san, after looking at me, smiled and spoke to me.
“Adin-kun, I wasn’t serious! I never actually intended to erase the guild! I just got a little annoyed because Milena was provoking me.”
“I’m not worried… Rather, I realized that my mentor is an amazing person and looks super cool!”
I felt that even that outrageous magical pressure wasn’t Aria-san’s true intention. I knew it intuitively… Aria-san usually feels very cute, but she also can be very cool at times too, and she’s truly the best mentor for me.
“Adin-kun…!”
Aria-san’s eyes sparkled at my words.
“…But, I still don’t like the fact that you won’t let me go on any quests.”
“Eh~! But there’s a valid reason for that────”
After that, Aria-san gave me a valid reason, or rather, a very invalid one, and Milena-san helped calm the situation down, and the conversation settled down for a while… Next time Aria-san isn’t around, I’ll go to Milena-san’s place and try to learn some more magic and swordsmanship.
