- Having Had My Bride Stolen, I Just Want to Live Peacefully
- Chapter 27 - Thank You, Arata-san
“Thank you for the meal.”
I was thinking about waiting for Nene-chan, but she asked me to eat it before it got cold, so I put my tongue into the food as soon as possible.
There are several ways to wrap eggs with omelet rice, but this coffee shop was dressed with omelet rice.
A half-boiled egg swirled over a high serving of chicken rice, wrapped in a beautiful drape like a dress skirt.
It is surrounded by beef stew with whipped cream, and the finished parsley green adds vivid flowers.
“It’s very nice to see. You can see that it is becoming popular among young people.”
Besides cute employees, the key to their popularity is the arrangement that makes them want to take pictures.
I immediately scooped it up with a spoon and carried it to my mouth.
“It’s delicious.”
The level of perfection I can see in one bite.
It was different from the dish that was only meant to look good.
The half-boiled egg was also exquisite, and the chicken rice had mushrooms in it, giving it an accent of mushroom flavor and texture.
“Even the beef stew alone was excellent enough to come out to the hotel, but it was definitely delicious when mixed with it.
Each one is polite and I can feel the attention of the maker.
I was going to eat at the right speed to wait for Nene-chan, but the spoon wouldn’t stop.
I reached out to the second and third mouths with a thud.
“Then shall I have some coffee?”
First of all, reset the place where the rich taste spreads through my mouth.
I put down the spoon, pick up the cup, and sip the coffee.
“…That’s good.”
It was not a wake-up shock, but a refined taste that made me want to squint.
There was something playful added to the slightly deep-roasted classical flavor that seemed to embody this restaurant.
The favorability of this store suddenly increases.
“I think I’ll buy some beans home.”
This coffee shop sold coffee beans.
I usually use it as a coffee machine because it takes a lot of time, but sometimes I make it myself.
The taste made me want to buy it and go home without thinking.
After a while, I finished eating omelet rice, and while I was tasting the coffee left over, Nene-chan in her school uniform came to me.
Since the day she forgot her ribbon, Nene-chan has been wearing the tie I lent her.
“Wait a minute. Have you eaten all the new ones yet? That’s fast.”
“I was going to eat slowly, but it was so delicious.”
I was a little embarrassed when I was told that I had eaten early, so I rubbed my head and said.
“I’m glad. I’m glad you seem to be satisfied.”
Nene-chan answered, patting her heart down.
“Ah, Nene-chan, I’m glad to hear that. You were praised by Ichinose-san for the omelet rice you made.”
“Hey, manager! Wait!”
Tsukimi-san suddenly appears behind Nene-chan.
“Why are you hiding it? You made it yourself. If I were you, I’d tell him right away.”
Tsukimi-san looks at Nene-chan if she tilts her head.
Nene-chan remained silent with a red face.
“Did Nene-chan make this?”
“Y-yes… The recipe is from this restaurant…”
“That’s amazing! I don’t think you can imitate the way the eggs are cooked.”
Even if she has a recipe, it depends on the person who makes it, so I honestly admire it.
“Right, we try to teach both waiters and chefs. It would be exceptional if you could have a cute girl cook for you. Recently, she said she wanted to learn how to make coffee, but I think she understood what it meant today.”
“…Manager.”
“Gosh, I think you’ve spoken too much again. I’m sorry to interrupt you.”
Nene-chan, puffing up her cheeks, glares at Tsukimi-san.
Tsukimi-san then drifted away.
And at last, she sat down at the table.
“That Nene-chan.”
“Huh?”
“Why are you sitting next to me? There must be a seat on the other side.”
I asked her why she was sitting next to me even though we were sitting at a table.
Her beautiful black and red hair is within touching distance of my shoulder, and it smells sweet and gentle, unlike the food.
“Ah.”
Nene-chan held her face shyly with her hands.
Was this reaction unconscious?
Does she mean it’s a remnant of the fact that she always sits next to me in my house?
“I’m sorry, I’m moving.”
Just as she was about to stand up.
“I’m sorry to have kept you waiting. Napolitan and cream soda.”
Nene-chan’s food, which she had probably ordered before she left work, was delivered.
Nene-chan, who had no time to move, ended up eating next to me.
From there, I was able to have a good time in a calm shop, listening to stories about Nene-chan when she had just joined a part-time job and listening to Tsukimi-san’s ridiculous episodes.
◇◆◇
The two layers of night, blue and orange, after the sun had set.
Nene-chan and I were walking under such a sky.
‘Take a little detour home.’
I was invited to do so, so I took longer than usual to travel the distance from the store to the station.
“Thank you very much for letting me come to the restaurant today, Nene-chan.”
Once again, I thank her.
“Thank you very much for coming.”
“The food was delicious, and although Tsukimi-san had a habit, she was a good manager. It’s a very nice shop.”
“Yes, it’s Nene-chan’s proud part-time job.”
Nene-chan smiles with a proud look on her face.
I guess it’s a pleasure to be praised for her job.
Since then, Tsukimi-san has been surprised to find free meals for two people.
I thank them again for paying the bill,
‘I saw something nice today, so don’t worry about it.’
She returned without any indebtedness to me.
That’s why I buy a lot of coffee beans and contribute even a little to the store.
“All over again.”
I looked up when Nene-chan approached me.
I found myself walking on a bridge over the river. I can see the beautiful gradation of the sky as if I was falling out of it.
“It’s a nice view.”
“Right? That’s why I sometimes go all the way here.”
And Nene-chan continued with a pause.
“―This is the place where Arata-san man and Nene met for the first time.”
Somehow the familiar scenery brings back memories.
But that day was a deep night.
“It’s been almost three years since we first met. That’s fast.”
“Aah, yes.”
It’s been almost three years since that day.
“That day has kept me like this. I enjoy both school and part-time work.”
“I can feel that feeling.”
Nene-chan always seems to enjoy being surrounded by people in the conversation where we talk while eating together in the morning.
“Thank you, Arata-san.”
Nene-chan turned to me with serious eyes.
“What’s wrong with you all of a sudden?”
“No, I just wanted to tell you.”
Silence flows between us. After a while, we started walking.
We arrived at the station while we were having a silly conversation.
“Ah, We’ve already arrived at the station.”
“We took a detour, but it was too early.”
“Haha, yes.”
Nene-chan smiles at my words.
“See you later, Nene-chan.”
“Bye-bye, Arata-san.”
Nene-chan waves away.
After seeing her back, I felt like I had to chase her so I reached out.
Naturally, my hands wandered in the air, and I decided to go home with my uncomfortable hands withdrawn.
The next day, Nene-chan never came to my house.
