When I Reincarnated, I Became Even More of a Gorilla - 20
We are hurriedly packing up in Elena’s room, which isn’t too sparsely furnished, but not too dreary.
The reason is that we have to leave the Capital City for Elena’s school, which is located in the Royal Capital.
The school that Elena belongs to, Verna Royal Academy, is said to be a prestigious school where most of the country’s nobles and talented commoners are enrolled from the age of 10 to 18 years old. Due to its high prestige, commoners can only attend if they’re exceptionally talented, and even nobles may not necessarily graduate due to their rigorous standards.
I’m not quite sure about the qualifications required for attending school, but Elena was having fun in that school, so it can’t be helped.
Apparently, that school has magic studies, which I think is unique to this world, and Elena is deeply engrossed in it.
Elena is 15 years old, so she has already spent 6 years there, and she’s enjoying her studies the most at the moment.
The school is divided into elementary, middle school and high school, with each section consisting of three years, and Elena is in her last year of middle school.
Since it’s now early fall and the year changes over at New Year’s, she will be entering high school in about 3 months.
Time in this world doesn’t seem to be that different from my previous life. I think having a slight deviation adds a bit of charm though.
A year is 365 days long, with 12 months consisting of 30 days, and a separate 5 days designated as the New Year’s holidays. It seems like a lot of things were being changed within those 5 days.
I understood that there are no irregular adjustments like leap years, and the stars rotate in a regular, orderly manner. Well, I don’t think people in this world understand the concepts of orbits and rotations.
This is a bit off-topic, but I heard that there’s an exam to move up from elementary to middle school, and from middle school to high school.
The school gave Elena and her classmates the task of acquiring a familiar as an exam to move up to high school.
Meanwhile, when advancing from elementary to middle school, students must be able to handle magic to a certain level, and the exam was held there at the beginning of the New Year.
Knowing that the number of students in the same grade has decreased by 30 since Elena’s enrollment gives an idea of how challenging their exams are. Incidentally, there were about 140 students in the year when Elena entered the school, which is quite a big deal.
In the regions of the Parverna Kingdom, familiars aren’t well-known, but they’re apparently a major presence in the Royal Capital. However, that doesn’t mean it’s easy to acquire one.
Well, putting aside those like me, ordinary monsters are hostile to humans.
I heard that Elena is sure to pass the exam now that she has signed a contract with me, but the exam is still a long way off, and right now, she has to keep up with her school classes tomorrow.
That’s why I’m helping out like this, loading Elena’s luggage into a carriage.
Unnn, but you know what? Elena is, in a way, a princess in a significant position in Gladysbalt Frontier County, responsible for defending part of the borders of Parverna Kingdom.
Since there’s a rule of firstborn succession in this country, Elena is the designated heir at the present stage. With Misha around, she, worst-case scenario, doesn’t really have to be the heir, but Elena seems to be putting effort into fulfilling that role herself, so I want to support her in that endeavor.
Well, what I want to say is that Elena has a lot of luggage.
I mean, I don’t think she needs to bring this much luggage for just a two-day break to visit her parents’ house. She even has blankets, toothbrushes, and other things she shouldn’t have to bring. She even got several spares with her here.
I’m guessing this is just Elena’s personality, but I suppose it can’t be helped. I’ve decided that from now on, I’m going to help her sort through all her stuff. Otherwise, it would just be tiring for me.
[Oog oog? (Isn’t it alright even if we don’t bring this?)]
[Hmm? I guess so. Well then, let’s leave that here. Then, let’s bring this with us.]
[Oog? Oog ooga? Oogo. (That? What’s that for? You don’t need it.)]
Every time Elena tried to put in something she didn’t need, I rejected it. Like I’ll allow her to add more to her already overloaded luggage. She had planned to take 3 carriages on our way to the Royal Capital, but I’ll definitely make sure the luggage fits in a single carriage.
[Geez! You shouldn’t bring anything you don’t need, Onee-chan!]
[I know that but……]
While the 15-year-old, who was seemingly unaware of the meaning behind her own words, was being scolded by the sensible 8-year-old, I was busy removing unnecessary items from the already packed carriage and brought them back into her room, then carried what I think are necessities into the carriage.
As I was doing so, it seemed that Father had come this way, and while observing me work, he spoke.
[Speaking of which, what are you doing now at school, Elena?]
It seems like Father is trying to engage in small talk with an honestly inconsequential question, but he’s probably attempting to distract Elena from taking unnecessary items to the carriage. Good job, Father.
As soon as Elena started to talk about her magic studies, Misha and I proceeded to sort through the luggage at a brisk pace. If we don’t do this, we won’t be able to leave until after dark.
[Gorimatsu-chan is strong, so organizing this luggage is a breeze!]
[Oog. (You’re right.)]
Misha seemed happy as she said this, so I nodded in agreement and continued with my task.
While doing so, the amount of luggage in the carriage rapidly decreased, and we finally managed to reduce it to a level that fit in just one carriage.
[Fuuu…… Now that’s good. I’ll go get Onee-chan and Papa!]
Misha said and went into the house. I had nothing more to do, so I decided to ride the carriage and took it easy. While I’m at it, I might as well make small talk with the horses that pull our carriage.
