When I Reincarnated, I Became Even More of a Gorilla - 2
What appeared there was a soft, translucent, bluish ball. Its squishy body seems to move by itself, as if it were a living creature.
Could that be…… There’s no way that it’s what I think it is, right!?
Isn’t that a slime?
A soft spherical, squishy body, with a somewhat familiar color. And considering that it’s moving against the direction of the wind, the answer is obvious.
Slime. It appears in fantasy works mainly as the first small fry encounter, and many Heroes had experienced fighting them. When one speaks of monsters, they’re the classic of the classic. There are times when they’re categorized as extremely strong, but they’re still monsters that are hard to hate.
Before I joined the company, I had been looked after by slimes in various media such as light novels, games and even doujinshis. If one is an otaku, they’ve probably met this guy at least once.
That’s when I realized something.
Ahh……
This is another world.
According to the common sense I know, slimes don’t have a life, and of course, they don’t go against the wind.
It seems I’ve come to another world.
I lumbered my way toward the slime, making ooga-ooga sounds. If this is another world and there are monsters, maybe levels and status also exist.
I don’t really know if this is the right thing to say, but let’s kill this slime.
If I kill it, maybe my level will go up, and perhaps some sort of voice will speak to me. Well, the fact that no one would find fault with me killing it is a big reason why I thought of this.
Come on, let’s do it.
I raised my right arm, which I had been using for knuckle-walking, and slammed it into the slime with great force.
[Ooga!]
Making a booming sound, my right arm hit the slime with force several times more than I had imagined, scattering its body to pieces with its death throes.
[Piggyeehh—–]
Hearing the slime’s pitiful voice, I shook off the liquid sticking to my right arm and waited to hear something.

I spent a few minutes and nothing changed, so although I was disappointed, I gave up, thinking there wouldn’t be much change happening by killing a single slime.
In that case, I should just check if I got that Status system first.
[Oogha oogho (Status)]
I tried saying it out loud as I thought, but there was still no change happening, so I could only slump my head in dismay.
I, who was called Gorimatsu even in normal circumstances, had really become a gorilla, and now, arriving here in a different world, I thought I could be rewarded for that. It would be nice if this other world was a bit more of a fantasy.
Haahhh…… There’s no point sulking about it.
In this life, I’m going to live doing only what I want to do!
Hmm? I’m not saying I don’t want to work though. It would be great if someone would hire me on good terms.
*****
Ten days have passed since I wandered through the forest with such hope in my heart, but in the end, I’m still wandering around.
For some reason, this gorilla body is very much stronger than my human body and it seems that sleep isn’t absolutely necessary.
I slept a few times en route, but I still went at least 3 days without sleeping.
There are a few things I have learned in these 10 days. Some of them are about this body, some about this world, but sum it up in one word: fantasy, that’s all it is.
“Fantasy is good” isn’t exactly something I would have said, as I would have liked it if this was a different kind of fantasy.
Apparently, the animals that inhabit this forest, including slimes, are all standard fantasy monsters.
I’m currently sleeping in a cave that I somehow found, but it’s located at the bottom of a cliff at the innermost part of the forest. Fortunately, there were no indigenous beings around here, but the cave was a bit too small, so I widened the hole and renovated it. I’ve got a lot of experience in that kind of thing from my previous job.
The food was mainly fruits from the tops of the trees, such as apples and grapes, which are also rather common on Earth.
There were times when I would bump into monkeys in the trees, but they ran away as soon as they saw me, so I was never attacked.
I also saw some other monsters that got away from me upon seeing me from a distance, but although I don’t know why they ran, I just left them alone.
What I’ve also discovered is that there’s a mysterious power that exists in this world. I tentatively called those I sensed in the air as Magicules and those existing in my body as Mana, and it seems that animals in this world breathe these magicules in and out, circulating them in their bodies.
I’m no exception to this. However, the amount I circulate seems to be much greater than the others.
This mana is the most fantasy-esque thing I’ve ever noticed, but it was only by chance. In my life up to this point, I had found a water source and checked my face, and that’s when I saw those things cladding my face in it.
After I saw that, I started to see the mana in slimes and other monsters, so something must have been some sort of key for me to be able to see them.
And so, the general verdict is that my 10 days were surprisingly peaceful, but is that good enough?
Well, I’m a gorilla anyway, so I don’t really need to be as busy as a human.
