When I Reincarnated, I Became Even More of a Gorilla - 16
The Baron had prepared a large place for us so that we could ascertain that our documents were authentic.
In the first place, I don’t really know much about it, but it seems there wasn’t that much of a fuss when it comes to the species of the familiar one is registering for.
It seems that it’s not that convenient for adventurers or merchants, due to the necessary procedures when registering with the guild, but for nobles, even if it’s not a good custom, submitting these documents to the government would allow them the opportunity to show off and keep up appearances.
It seems that a problem finally arose because of this, and we ended up getting caught in the trouble others caused.
Elena doesn’t seem to be particularly concerned about it, but even now, the Baron doesn’t seem to think I’m a Goldback. Perhaps it’s understandable given my current small, monkey-like appearance, but isn’t it questionable for him to doubt the declaration from the daughter of a higher-ranking noble?
While I was thinking about this, it turned out we were going to leave the government office and go to another place. It seems they’re preparing a spacious area, possibly considering for when I’m actually a Goldback. From what I can tell from the conversation between Elena and the Baron, the place we’re heading to seems to be a training ground.
However, it was a bit of a long walk to get there.
[Oog oog, ooga? (Hey, Elena, are we there yet?)]
I’m walking on my own feet now, so my steps are a bit slow and my stride is extremely short. Therefore, the walk outside feels unusually long.
[I see. Gorimatsu is small now after all. Come, I’ll carry you.]
After saying that, Elena started to walk with me in her arms. I’m grateful for this, but the Baron, seeing this, became even more suspicious. Maybe I screwed up a little.
In any case, it was easy-peasy from there, and we soon arrived at the training ground that had been prepared for us. There were many people there, training with swords, spears and bows. They seemed to be made up of both adventurers and knights.
Among them were also people extending their palms or holding out staves, shooting something toward their targets, but I guess those are magic. I have only seen that bear’s magic, but it looks like that when a person shoots magic huh. How should I say this…… It looks shabby.
Despite my inner disappointment, the Baron led us to a corner of the training hall. There, he began to explain.
[Well then, I’d like to ask Elena-sama to prove that your familiar over there is a Goldback.]
[Ahh, here huh. Well, it’s a good thing some of the people here have already seen him.
The Baron reacted a little to those words. I guess he really didn’t know that I had appeared at the gate. Well then, it can’t be helped, but I guess I’m going to surprise him.
[Let’s start right away then. Move away for a bit.]
[Understood.]
As expected, even the Baron regarded this a bit more seriously and listened to her instructions. He had probably suspected it from Elena’s words earlier, but it’s unfortunate that information hadn’t been shared with the government office.
[Alright, Gorimatsu. I’ll take it off now.]
[Oog. (Unn.)]
Agreeing to Elena’s words, I held out my neck. Elena takes the collar off, before she moves away from me and waits.
It seems that just as it takes time for me to shrink, growing back to normal size isn’t instantaneous either.
Hmm? However, why do I feel like I might be able to do something in this situation?
[Oog, oog oogo ooga? (Hey, should I just wait for my body to grow naturally?]
I ask Elena whether I should just accept the effect of the magic tool. Somehow, I feel like it might be possible for me to forcibly grow back to normal size.
Elena seemed a little surprised hearing me say that, but she nodded her head. Perhaps my body has become accustomed to that magic tool. It’s even possible that with time, I’ll be able to make myself bigger or smaller by myself.
This LV5 Gorilla is still just Level 5. Doing that might become possible when my level gets higher.
I put all my strength into my body to break through the force that’s holding me down.
Crack!
With the sound of broken glass resounding around me, I’m released from my shackles. The next moment, my body begins to grow larger, and I’m back to about 3 meters tall, the same height I was when I first met Elena.
Revelation! A Gorilla with golden hair appears! His name is…… Goldback Gorimatsu!!!
Just kidding lol.
Oops, suddenly finding myself with this height makes it hard for me to balance. For the time being, let’s lean forward and support my body with my arms.
And so, I grew larger like that, but I noticed that the Baron had been quiet for a while now, so I looked down. Thereupon, I saw the Baron was frozen with his mouth wide open. I could also see Elena standing next to him with a smug look on her face.
[Oog, oog ooga oog? (Elena, a noble lady shouldn’t have that look on your face, okay?)]
[Mhmm? For Gorimatsu to tell me off, did it look that bad? I’ll be careful.]
After Elena massages her facial muscles, she turns towards the Baron, observing his reaction.
[Baron. I don’t mind you inspecting him now, you know?]
[Y- Yes! I’m on it!]
While Elena likely intended her words as a gentle urging for him to do his work, the Baron, as if he was told “You see that?”, immediately took action. He circled around me, scribbling something on a piece of paper.
I’m sure he’s confirming some details about my status as a familiar.
He’s circled around me several times, and every time he sees the golden fur on my back, he writes something additional on the paper in his hand several times, making me wonder how many dozens of checks he’s going to make.
Well, I don’t really care as long as he acknowledges my existence.
[Yes, I’m done.]
After the Baron finished his confirmation, he stored the paper in his pocket and turned towards Elena. It seems like there was no issue. Before the Baron could speak again, I put the collar around my neck and focused my thoughts on shrinking myself this time.
Just like that, my body is back to plushie size. It seems like I’ve gotten used to being this size.
Looking at my actions with disbelief, the Baron quickly composed himself and apologized to Elena.
[Even though it’s for confirmation, we apologize for the trouble we’ve caused you. We would now like to register Gorimatsu-sama as Elena-sama’s familiar. Thus, could you please come to the reception room we were in earlier for the confirmation of the rank and other details?]
[Umu, there’s no need for the apologies. It seems like the root cause of this happening lies with the antics of someone from the academy. Me not expecting the rules to have changed was my oversight. Don’t worry about it. Well then, let’s go. I myself am also curious about Gorimatsu’s rank.]
Hearing the unfamiliar term “rank”, I’m kinda curious, but it seems that I’m finally registered as Elena’s familiar. It seems like there are still things that need to be done though.
We start moving back to the room we were in earlier. I’m carried in Elena’s arms once again along the way.
I wonder what we’re going to do next.
