【Future Sight】Saving Tragic Beautiful Girls and Making Them Obsessively Fall for Me 〜I Selfishly “Helped” the Witches Who Were Gonna Destroy the World Just to Train My Martial Arts, and Now They’re All Dripping with Obsession and Worshipping Me〜 - Chapter 3
Chapter 3
Alright. So now that my opponent’s getting all riled up too.
Time for me to get serious… huh?
“…Hey.”
I stopped my step toward the guy and turned back around.
Fuka was huddled on the dirty ground, her still-kinda-babyish face all twisted up. Despair, sadness, anger—everything mixed together in a total mess as her eyes glared straight at me.
“—Why…! Why couldn’t you just leave me like this!?”
“Hmm?”
“Fuka’s got nowhere left to go, nobody waiting anymore, everything’s gone…! Fuka can’t live alone, so I figured screw it, whatever happens, at least let it end right here… but…!”
“What’s up? What’s wrong…”
What the hell just flipped in her? Yeah, the main target’s that dude over there, but I saved her thinking it’d be a good thing. I didn’t see any scene like this in the dream either.
Still, sorry. No clue what happened to you, but my head’s already locked on that guy 100%.
So.
“Anyway, life’s gotta come first, right? I’m gonna take care of him. Just run off somewhere quick.”
“! That’s… so irresponsible…! Someone spoiled like you, Taylor-kun, wouldn’t understand! How much Fuka…! Even when they bullied me at the academy, even when awful stuff kept happening, I kept going because my family was waiting, because they showed me the path I was supposed to take! —But then they threw me away!? Fuka’s got… nothing left…!”
I’d already turned my back on Fuka and started walking toward the guy.
But yeah, I heard it all. I got that something really painful went down, and maybe that lady from before had something to do with it, stuff like that popped into my head.
But all that’s for later. —Right now, testing my own strength comes first!
…That said, I can’t let anyone mess up my first real fight.
“No idea what happened, but there’s one thing I can say to you from me. —Young man, hold a will like steel that never bends or breaks. Then the path will open up… or whatever.”
“…Eh?”
That’s a line from the person I look up to. It’s become my personal guideline too.
Basically…
“Cut your own way forward with your own power no matter what. Decide your own reasons for acting. Take responsibility for it yourself. That way… you won’t lose sight of what really matters to you—”
“Wh… what is that. Fuka, something like that… Fuka deciding…”
“Then hurry up and get outta here.”
“Ah—wait… Taylor-kun!”
The edge in Fuka’s voice disappeared, replaced with confusion. And in that shadow, I caught a quick flash of… gratitude? Maybe even liking…?
Eh, whatever. Doesn’t matter right now—c’mon, more importantly—!
“Don’t get in my waaayyy!!”
“Hell yeah! Deathmatch time, deathmatch!”
The guy leaped out wrapped in that nasty aura, and I dropped into my stance.
Man, he’s fast as hell though! Looks like just some random street thug with zero real skill, yet damn, the terror of the “witches”’ power.
“Whoops, not gonna tank that like an idiot! First rule’s always sizing up the enemy’s strength!”
No technique whatsoever—just swinging that sword wrapped in purple aura straight down. Dodging something like that’s a piece of cake.
The real problem’s the raw power. I jumped back and watched his sword smack the ground.
Right after, the earth shook with a huge roar—
“—Kyaa, kyaaaa!”
“Hm? You still haven’t run? …Yeah, that’s definitely enough force to make a girl your age scream.”
The sword slammed down full force, kicking up a massive cloud of dirt. Rocks and sand rained down from the air like they were smacking the dust itself.
And once the view cleared, a giant hole gaped in the ground ahead.
“G-Gihii! Pests… die…!”
“If it boosts your power that much, I’d almost thank the ‘witches,’ but turning stupid sounds like a shitty deal…”
Getting stronger but losing your brain would be totally backwards… or so I was thinking.
“…Taylor-kun! Just stop! Forget about Fuka and run!”
“Me? Run?”
“Fuka’s fine with whatever happens to Fuka now…! Taylor-kun can’t use magic, right!? Taking on a monster like this is crazy, you’re gonna die…!”
Huh. She was totally spaced out in shock earlier, but now she’s even worried about me?
“Too bad, but I won’t die from something like this. I’ve been training hard.”
“Training isn’t the point here!? Just swinging the sword makes explosions like that! And you said it yourself earlier!”
Said earlier? What’d I say?
“—You decide your own actions… that’s what you told me! So don’t put yourself in danger for Fuka’s sake…”
“—Oh, that. Don’t worry.”
“Huh…?”
Worrying about a total stranger like me when danger’s right in her face—Fuka seems like a pretty good person deep down.
But sorry, I’m not some saintly type like you. I’ll save whoever I can, but my top reason for coming here was confirming if [Future Sight] is real and testing my strength.
So I was about to tell her there’s nothing for her to worry about.
…But that guy’s already gearing up for the next hit. Not much time left to chat. Gotta keep the answer short—
“I’m here for my own sake. —Taking down that murderous blade aimed at Fuka is my goal right now.”
Not that I wanna protect Fuka, but that I wanna fight the guy. So just run without worrying—that’s what I meant.
Then I dodged his next swing by an even thinner margin than before.
Alright. I’m getting the hang of this speed. Since it’s my first real life-or-death fight, I watched his attacks twice just to be safe, but I’m good now.
“…Next one’s coming head-on.”
I licked my lips at the sharp killing intent, calming my surging battle rush.
Stay calm. Repeat that person’s words. If I can keep my mind in the exact same state as during training, I can always pull out my full power. When you boil martial arts down, it all comes to the spirit in the end.
If only those words could actually hold right now…
“—No way that’s happening…! In a spot like this, my heart’s pounding outta control!!”
…While I was firing myself up like that.
The girl behind me—who I wasn’t even thinking about anymore—mumbled something.
“…I thought I had nothing left at all. —But Taylor-kun… you’re the only one who won’t throw Fuka away…”
Yeah.
Who’d ever guess the random classmate I just happened to save had yandere vibes waiting to come out.
