For I Am A Side Character - 139: A Brother's Hate Defies Nature
***Cecil’s POV***
From how it seemed to me…
My battle against the demon didn’t even lasted for more than 7 minutes…
Right after that, I saw a bastard stepping over my brother’s face.
The next thing I knew, I saw a nightmare come through a giant red hole in the sky. It felt ominous at all angles…it was much more threatening than the demon in front of me…but at the same time, the sight of its infant face made me feel hate not towards it, but to the sight of evil.
And more to it, the bastard who was stepping over my brother’s face, I felt his presence before. An angel…and it looks like he was against my brother’s actions.
My brother who was chosen as a messenger for God…
A prophet…
I knew that it was never going to be easy for him…and I thought that if I was there by his side, I could at least support him in his missions…
But the next thing I knew, I saw the light from his eyes fade away as a tube made of flesh devoured his body little by little…
I could no longer hear his heart beat.
My heart…my heart broke…
And worse of all, the bastard…the fallen angel stepped on his face and smashed it to bits.
How did it come to this?
One after the other, worse things keeps happening.
I failed…
I failed to notice it…
I failed to take action…
***
In the witness of his brother’s death, he was spooked to his core.
“…” he could not think for over ten seconds…
In that time, he could only watch as the angel spread his wings and flew to escape the scene.
Not long after, he regained back his thoughts.
“W-what is happening right now?” he asked as the demon stood before him in a nervous manner.
The demon could feel that his once calm visage had then flipped into what was known as an Asura-like expression.
“Answer me demon…what is happening to this forest…why is there a monster out in the sky…and most of all, why has my brother’s heart stop beating.”
But to his questions, the demon only raised his guard in return for any upcoming attack.
But even with his defenses sharpened, in all form of emotion that was currently present in Cecil’s heart, he demolished the expectations of the demon.
With no answer said, Cecil went into a full silent rage.
“…”
“…!?” the Demon noticed it.
Darkness…in all its glory…it showed fangs and impression at the surface of Cecil’s calm yet uncertain manner.
As black as the void…
As dark as a nightmare could make…
Cecil showed his ever bearing emotion…
Even the demon who was a manifestation of fear and anger…
He himself, felt fear as of that moment when Cecil showed his intent.
Cecil…at that moment was more terrifying than anything the demon had ever encountered even in his creation as a sword made from the Demon king himself.
It was like staring into an existence that was more unbearable than the depths made under God’s possible hands.
The demon…in all his instinct, wanted to flee at that very moment.
But to every move he was making in decision, he was sure of his death.
He could not escape the anger expressed by Cecil…
And seeing no other choice, the demon took the gamble of attacking instead.
In his fearful dash forward, he thought he made the first move, but right as the tip of his foot left the ground, Cecil was already by the side, carrying his sword made of darkness.
The Demon had yet to even notice Cecil’s presence before receiving a strike so powerful, it created a crack on the floor.
And the demon was thrown deep into the ground at an unbelievable rate.
From a hundred feet all up to a thousand meters deep underground…
Two seconds…
Cecil had struck the demon so hard and so fast, it broke the very essence of human capability known to man…
“A-agh-” the demon could not comprehend what had happened.
It was dark and extremely hot in where he was…
But when he turned his head up, he could see a speck of light above…
A thousand meters deep underground.
“…?!” and when he moved his body, he could feel the entirety of his lower body, slashed and shattered by the sword of Cecil’s anger.
Pure power was all it took to destroy the demon’s faith in winning against Cecil.
But despite this, with the demon’s strong regenerative power, he was able to easily heal the damage done by Cecil. But the fear inflicted by Cecil’s very presence wasno burried deep in the demon’s heart.
He could not forget that feeling all to easily even as a demon.
As he continued to heal himself deep underground, thinking that he was safe for a moment, all of a sudden, arms made of shadows came from all over and took him in all limbs of matter.
They pulled him up from the deep, and once he was back to the surface, Cecil was there waiting.
As he was holding on to the throat of the demon using the shadows, he soon became tempted to break ever bone in his body.
One by one, the demon’s bones were each snapped into two. From his arms to his legs and even his spine…the demon became a mangled mess by the time Cecil was finished. What was left unbroken was the blades themselves attached to the demon’s arms.
“K-khk!” the demon struggled to escape, with all his might, he wanted to leave…but the rage in Cecil’s heart only hardened his anger and resolve towards the demon and everything.
“TALK DAMMIT!” he screamed out of frustration.
“Kuso!” the Demon spoke in the same tone of frustration.
But seeing as how it was pointless to talk to a language he could not understand, he decided to end the demon then and there.
“Fuck!” and in his anger, he raised his blade and made the resolve to finally end this.
but right before he could, all of a sudden, he heard a loud crash from the distance. When he turned his head, he witnessed the sight of an unfamiliar face.
A woman engulfed in fire…almost as if her very attire and skin was made of fire itself.
Her beauty was unlike any other…almost at the level of a goddess…
But other than the beauty, he felt the presence of the angel as well.
And from it, his anger swelled even more.
His attention was now all on the Angel…his mind was focused on the person who took his little brother’s life.
‘A soul for a soul!’
But as he was grinding his teeth in anger, he was not completely blinded by everything else. For in but a moment, as the Angel was being held down by the fiery goddess, all of a sudden, something fell from the sky.
Over a dozen…and many more fell to the floor just behind the scene of the goddess and the angel.
Those who fell were giants who stood over ten feet tall…with skin as gray as rotten meat and who’s weapons were made of flesh and bone.
Whoever they were, he could see that more and more were falling straight from the infant-nightmare’s mouth.
It was a grotesque sight…
But even so, it was not a problem to the Goddess of flame. For in just a single sway of her hand, they were quickly engulfed in a merciless flame. Hastily, they were turned to ash and her attention was quickly turned back to the fallen angel.
Looking at her, he witnessed a similar expression on her face.
Anger and heartbreak.
With the witness of such a sad display of expression, Cecil felt that the fiery goddess would end the angel’s life then and there…
But out of nowhere, the demon escaped the shadowy hands that Cecil had made, and from it, the demon quickly made way to the direction of the goddess and the angel.
Cecil tried to catch up to the demon, but right before he could, a few giants fell from the nightmare just about his feet. These giants came and swung their weapons at him, keeping him away from the true enemies.
In the demon’s sudden appearance, it gave the angel another chance to escape, but it left him in flames and a terrible scar to the heart.
When Cecil had finally dealt with the giants, he was too late to arrive in the scene.
The angel had fled…and what was left was the demon.
He had questions in his mind about the fiery woman, but that would all come later once the battle was finally settled here in the forest.
Giants continue to fall from the nightmare above, but even still, Cecil simply went about his duty.

Out in the distance, in the base camp of the academy’s supposed position, Jessica came about using the portal to help the others evacuate.
As she did, she couldn’t help but worry about the fact that there was a large monster floating out in the sky with its elongated arms deeply connected on the ground like an anchor.
But even still, her duty to let everyone leave was a priority. She trusted that Soril would resolve this matter in time…all she had to do in return was to keep everyone safe.
She did everything she could to assist in the moment…
With how Cecil’s power was able to envelope even the area of the forest they were standing in with darkness, with how this affected the people with an uncertain emotion, they did their best in evacuating.
There were only about less than fifty people left here in the base camp, quickly, the numbers were raising in the evacuation. And when everyone had finally left, Jessica thought of leaving as well…
But right before she could pass through the portal, something whispered in her ear.
‘…?’ it was a silent blow of the wind…although it felt common just like any other, Jessica was oddly curious about the wind that whispered in her ear.
As she turned her head out of curiosity, it was there that she saw a man wearing a white robe…
White and clean as if newly made…
And yet, his face…his expression, she could not see it.
But she could feel his emotion even at such a distance.
“W-who are you?” she asked.
But as she asked, the man only pointed his finger up to the abomination in the air.
And he spoke.
“His heart still beats.”
And from his words, Jessica’s entire body shook…
“!?” and she unconsciously took a step forward towards the man with the unseen expression.
“Go to him.” he said.
And from it, a screen appeared before Jessica’s eyes.
