For I Am A Side Character - 133: A Demon Overwhelms
With two holes in the shape of a Orjay’s blade on my body, I struggled to keep myself from going insane from the pain.
‘How is it possible that I could feel this much pain?!’ I thought as I looked back to the past events of my own injuries. Never were they this painful…all except for one man who could inflict damage to any enemy.
‘Fuck, this reminds me of Jason’s flames…’ but unlike Jason’s flames, the blades were coated with a dense amount of demonic energy that I have never witnessed before. It was as if those were entirely made of demonic energy to its purest form.
I tried to fight back as much as I could, but little by little, I was being pushed to a corner.
My body was getting weaker…
I had to do something…
‘…I don’t like to do this, but I have to do it.’
Knowing that there was no other way to regain my strength other than using God’s Will to fully heal my body mid fight, I disregarded by own opinion of abusing God’s blessing and started myself.
Feeling the Holy energy appear as I thought of my own healing, all of a sudden, Orjay’s entire attitude changed. Instead of fighting on, he stopped and looked my way as I healed my body.
“…” we stared at each other, but he looked to me with a curious furrow.
“…This energy, holy energy?…No, it’s something more!” he said as hint of rage was in his tone.
“…” as he showed aggravation towards my way , it didn’t take long before my wounds were healed and the pain went away.
“…If Agifell was still alive, she could have figured out what it was that you showed just a second ago…but you killed her, you murderer. You killed an Angel.” he said.
“…” looking to him in a cautious manner, I then brought out my sword.
It was finally time to settle this matter with a man who I doubt anyone can easily go against.
Looking around, I can see that we did a lot of damage to the terrain.
Fields were cleared, craters were made and trees were crushed to splinters. If we do anymore damage, The Tail-back Dorm region will never be called a forest ever again.
No shields are needed.
Instead, I brought out two swords. One was a materialization of God’s Will while the other was bought from the System Store.
Both were equally strong, but I doubt it’s equivalent to the swords he carries on his hand.
“…Before we go on our round 2, how confident are you in taking my life just as you did with the rest of my friends.” he said.
“…You really are out to put a title over my head, aren’t you?”
“Its only facts that I spoke of in this moment.”
“I guess if I have to answer, then yeah…there’s no other choice then to put your head on a stake.”
“Hmm, as expected of a murderer.”
“Sure sure…lets get this going.”
With both swords up and about, they both ran at each at blitzing speeds. Their speeds wee comparable to that of a light’s passing, but unlike light passing, the moment their swords meet, the very force of their crashing caused all sorts of phenomena to happen in the close radius.
As their swords meet, all trees were cut down in a 1 kilometer diameter.
The force was so fierce, each animal and monster that had their necks up were found dead the next second.
“KhK!” I struggled.
“Hehe!” while he laughed.
Once our swords met once, it only came for another.
*Clash!!*
And another!
*CLASH!!*
And another…
*CLASH!!!!!*
It was a battle no mortal should be able to create.
I questioned myself how was such a man like him able to produce such a strength to match mine…
Maybe he was a divine being like an angel…or a fallen one at that, but all he shed in presence was the familiarity of a human spirit.
Which made things more mysterious but intriguing at the same time.
Maybe he earned a power similar to mine. A power that would reach that of a warrior’s true presence.
This battle was unlike anything I’ve ever felt when we crashed swords with one another. But it was no time to admire this moment without considering the end. Although I was afraid of where this battle would lead on, I had to make sure that he dies in the end.
[Heaven’s Rift!] – [times 2]
Bringing out my strongest set of skill unto my two blades, I hacked and slashed down on him with the immensity of mountains falling on his body.
And soon enough, his smile disappeared.
*BOOM!*
*BOOM!*
*BOOM!*
*BOOM!*
*BOOM!*
*BOOM!*
*BOOM!*
*BOOM!*
*BOOM!*
*BOOM!*
*BOOM!*
*BOOM!*
*BOOM!*
*BOOM!*
*BOOM!*
*BOOM!*
*BOOM!*
*BOOM!*
*BOOM!*
*BOOM!*
Twenty slashes were made to push him down unto his knees, but even so, I can tell that he could still stand up again.
I had to finish him!
I had to bring him down no matter how desperate I may look!
“AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!” I screamed at the top of my lungs, so much so that my voice reached the very top of the closest mountain there was to us.
[Sentinel’s Fury!!!]
My attacks turned into a blur as I continuously pummeled down on him non-stop.
The intensity of the battle surged, each moment pushing the limits of what could be considered humanly possible. As I unleashed [Sentinel’s Fury], my strikes came faster than even my eyes could follow. The air around us seemed to warp under the pressure of each blow, the ground trembling as shockwaves radiated outward.
Orjay, despite his earlier bravado, was visibly strained. His stance wavered, his demonic blades flickering under the relentless onslaught. Yet, even as his knees threatened to buckle, his eyes burned with an unyielding defiance.
“Is that all you have, murderer?” Orjay spat, his voice filled with venom and challenge.
I gritted my teeth. His resilience was unlike anything I had encountered. Each clash felt like battling a force of nature, his every move calculated to exploit any weakness in my defense.
“You talk a lot for someone barely standing,” I retorted, my breath coming in short bursts. Yet, I knew I couldn’t let up. The slightest hesitation could be fatal.
With a surge of divine energy, I focused all my remaining strength.
[Dominion Overload] – [Times 2!!]
Stacking into my body which was already using dominion overload, it was then turned triple and combined into the essence of my own prowess with the destructive force of my blades. The air around us shifted, the once-chaotic battlefield now eerily silent as I charged the final blow.
Orjay’s eyes widened, recognizing the shift. “Tch. So, you’ve been holding back this entire time.”
He braced himself, crossing his demonic blades before him as dark energy pulsed from his body, forming a barrier of malevolent force. “Let’s see if your holy power can break through this.”
With a deafening roar, I swung both blades downward, the combined energy unleashing a blinding arc of light.
The impact was catastrophic.
The ground split open, creating a deep chasm that stretched for miles. A shockwave erupted, tearing through the forest and sending debris flying in all directions. The once verdant Tail-back Dorm region was now an unrecognizable wasteland.
As the dust settled, I stood, both swords still in hand, my body trembling from the exertion. Orjay’s figure was barely visible through the haze. Slowly, he emerged, his armor shattered, his body bloodied but still standing. His demonic aura, however, had significantly weakened.
He staggered forward, his expression a mix of pain and grudging respect. “Not bad… but this isn’t over yet.”
As he said this, at the same time, my body started to show some cracks and blood began to drip from my eyes yet again.
‘…’
This happened before.
Back when I overused the Dominion Overload so much that my body could not handle it…
I know I’m abusing myself too much, but if it gets rid of his life in the process…it’s worth the sacrifice.
“Hmm, looks like you pushed yourself to the limit.” he said.
“…I’m…not done yet!” I said as my legs were shaking by how much in pain I was.
“…so am I.” as he said this, all of a sudden, demonic energy started to gather on his chest and soon enough, the two blades that were on his hands were suddenly starting to merge into his flesh.
“…I’m abandoning my humanity all for the sake of revenge. And from the looks of it, you too…the more cracks are appearing into your skin, I can feel your humanity slowly drifting away.” he said.
“…What?” I didn’t notice this.
When I looked into my hands, cracks with a bright light started to appear. And from that light energy was being emitted and felt.
…it was similar to that of the presence brought upon by the Aranean Warriors as well as my own humanity.
“…Looks like you’re going to cross the border of surpassing your own humanity soon and the same goes for me. So I’ll say this once because this is my final words as a human.”
“…”
“…It’s inevitable…the death of the world is inevitable.”
As he said this, his once human feature turned into that of a disastrous demon.
“…” and once he did, his voice was lost.
Looking like a drastic demon, with over a hundred small horns fitted into his face, a single eye locking into the place of his nose, his ears turning sharp, his skin turning gray, his arms mending into the demonic blades, and his legs shifting into that of a goat’s own legs, the man known as Orjay Goliath was turned into a demon that looked as grotesque as any other.
“…You really turned into a demon. I can’t feel an ounce of a human’s soul left in you.”
“…” the demon did not say anything in return.
And I could feel it. His was surging with power unlike before.
Without a doubt, I wasn’t certain of my own life today…
I felt like I was going to die…
***
A few moments back.
Just as when Jessica had freed everyone from the skill that Orhisel brought upon their minds, all of a sudden, power was emerging from afar.
And as it appeared, Jessica quickly knew it was from Soril’s power.
“…Soril.”
The show of power was so clear, everyone felt it.
“What is this? Why is such a surge of power appearing before us?” asked Thoran Stonefist, the Guild Leader representative of Class B.
It was unlike anything they have ever felt before.
“…” Cloni Suvack, the Guild Leader representative of Class A, was also intrigued, so much so that he moved on his own to follow on to where this pressure was coming from.
And soon the others followed.
The only ones to stay were the Teachers who wanted to keep everyone safe.
But for Sgt. O’riley, he too wanted to witness the source of this ongoing surge of power from the distance.
‘…Soril, what’s going on?’ thought Jessica as she was showing an expression of worry. She couldn’t help but run towards where this battle was happening.
Audrey who witnessed her sight of worry also followed, so did John Bishop and Conner who recognized this power all too well.
Soon, little by little, they went and looked to find this shaking battle.
And when they finally arrived, the witnessed the sight of Soril battling a person who seemed just as powerful as he was.
“!!?” Audrey was shocked to witness the sight of power brought upon by their battle.
It was unlike anything she could have imagined.
A battle surpassing that of the S-ranked hunters.
And as for the Guild Leaders, they could only watch as their nervousness was clear on their expressions.
“…That’s Soril isn’t it, Mr. O’riley?” asked Seraphena as she shakingly held her staff in worry.
“…it is.” said Sgt. O’riley as he too looked at the devastation of such a battle.
“Soril? He’s a student a student of yours correct?” asked Thoran as he showed an angered expression.
“…Yes.” but despite O’riley’s claim for such a way, he could not believe his eyes.
None of them could.
The battle brought them was like a battle meant for those who could rule a world.
Power unlike any other.
The two whose fist would collide was easily able to create shockwaves of power so deadly, it created tremors similar to that of an earthquake.
The speed of their movement was so fast, hardly anyone could ever tell what was going on.
Jessica could hardly follow their Battle and so could John Bishop, but Audrey with her quick eyes and Conner and the others were able to follow it just enough to witness the fierce onslaught before them.
“…What is going on?! Why is this happening?!” asked Seraphina as she was starting to feel overwhelmed by the battle.
“Silence, just observe.” said Cloni as he was very focused on the battle before him.
As the battle raged on, it came to a point that Soril had brought about his Dominion Overload which in turn caused everything to suddenly turn heavy.
“Khk!”
“Agh!” all the children were feeling the weight of such pressure brought upon by Soril’s dominion overload.
In turn, Seraphina had to use a barrier to protect them from the battle.
By raising a barrier, it shielded them from the debris and the pressure.
“This is insane…” said Miles Miller.
…Conner with his heightened senses could somewhat keep up with the rapid exchanges. Even so, the sheer intensity left them awestruck. The battlefield was a maelstrom of destruction, a testament to the overwhelming strength of both combatants.
Jessica clenched her fists, her heart pounding in her chest. “Soril… you’re pushing yourself too far,” she muttered, her voice barely audible over the deafening clashes. Her eyes darted to the others. “We need to help him.”
Audrey hesitated, her gaze locked on the chaos. “Help? Against that? We wouldn’t last a second in that fight.”
“Even so, we can’t just stand here!” Jessica’s voice cracked with desperation. She took a step forward but was stopped by Sgt. O’Riley’s firm grip on her shoulder.
“No,” O’Riley said. His tone was calm but resolute. “This is Soril’s battle. Interfering now could cost him more than just his life.”
Jessica’s eyes widened, a mix of fear and frustration boiling inside her. “But—”
Before she could argue further, a sudden explosion of energy erupted from the center of the battlefield. The shockwave forced everyone to brace themselves as the ground beneath their feet quaked violently.
When the dust cleared, Soril stood, his body glowing with an intense light. Cracks in his skin radiated divine energy, but his expression remained fierce and unyielding. Opposite him, Orjay, now fully transformed into his demonic form, loomed like a nightmarish giant. His twisted form pulsed with malevolent energy, each movement exuding raw, unrelenting power.
“This ends now!” Soril roared, his voice echoing across the ruined landscape. He raised both swords high, their auras flaring with holy energy. “For every life you’ve taken, for every soul you’ve corrupted—your time is up!”
Orjay let out an inhuman growl, his singular eye narrowing as he prepared to unleash a final, devastating attack. Dark energy swirled around him, forming a massive vortex that threatened to consume everything in its path.
The onlookers could only watch in terror and awe as the two titans prepared for their ultimate clash. Jessica’s heart sank, but she refused to look away. You can do this, Soril. You have to.
With a final battle cry, the two forces collided once more, their clash illuminating the desolate battlefield like a second sun. The ensuing explosion was blinding, its shockwave ripping through the air and shaking the very foundations of the earth. The gathered crowd shielded their eyes, their ears ringing from the sheer force of the impact.
But it didn’t end there…
Once the explosion dissipated, they could see Soril flying into the air and what followed him was the sight of the demon who grew wings and chased after him.
And what they noticed then was that Soril had lost both arms. He was fleeing at a desperate rate.
And while doing so, they noticed that a holy energy or something similar to that was starting ot be emmited.
As they watched, they soon noticed that Soril was able to quickly grow back his arms as if they were never cut. Once he was able to regain his arms, he stopped running away and turned back ot face the demon.
“OOOOOOOOHHH!!” his scream could be heard far and wide.
As he clashed again against the demon.
At the last second, he conjured another sword to counter the demon’s approach.
*BOOM!*
In their clash midair, the clouds were pushed away to the side and a force of wind so strong was created.
But in this clash, the demon prevailed.
The swords Soril made were too fragile, that in the moment of their clash, they broke like glass.
Once this happened, Soril meet the full force of the demon’s blade straight into his chest.
“OghhHH!!” the demon ragefully screamed at him as the blades went through his back.
“Ughk!” Soril coughed up blood as his vision blurred .
“SORIL!!!” Jessica screamed as she witnessed Soril bleed in the air.
His blood dripped down to the ground as he struggled to escape from the demon’s clutches.
“…Ah-…haa…haa…haa” heavy breaths were all he could make a his vision continued to blur.
The demon in turn, opened its mouth and received the blood that fell from Soril’s body.
As it dripped, the Demon rejoiced in such a rich filling moment.
At the last effort to try and escape, he used his legs and pushed himself off of the blades.
In the desperate moment, he became lucky.
He was able to escape, but after that, he didn’t have any strength left ot even use the [The Steps of the Emissary Ghost] to save himself.
He only continued to fall like a ragdoll.
*Thud!*
Crashing into ground, he was seen pale and cracked like a abused doll.
‘How…how am I supposed to defeat such a monster?’ he asked himself.
In the moment that he had left, he tried to fix his body with God’s Will.
But to use God’s Will, one had to be focused and strongly minded.
With how overwhelmed Soril was, he could barely muster the strength to heal himself.
Defeated…
Soril felt defeated against a demon.
