For I Am A Side Character - 130: The Void of Memories; Jessabelle's Own Desires.
A few minutes ago.
As Jessabelle and Audrey were making their way close to the base camp, all of a sudden, a sudden burst of power grew from the distance. This power was nonetheless unfamiliar to both Audrey and the other classes, but for Jessabelle, something about it brought a different heart beat inside her.
“!?”
“W-what is this?” asked Audrey as she stopped her feet from running.
But to her question, Jessabelle in turn, suddenly bursted in flames.
“!!??!” for some unexplainable reason, she was burning from head to toe and she had no control over it een to her strongest will and reason.
“Jess?! What’s going on?” asked Audrey, but Jessabelle could barely contain herself before finally falling ot her knees.
“AGhhH!!!!!” she screamed in pain as little by little, thoughts of certain events in her mind started to emerge.
Memories where she had no idea who it was from…
Audrey tried to shake back her senses, but in return of her approach, Jessabelle reacted out of fear.
The moment Audrey went to grab her shoulders even in flame, Jessabelle bursted into a ball of fire.
*Boom!!!*
And what came from it was an explosion of power strong enough that it pushed Audrey straight to a tree.
*Thud!*
“Khk!”
But despite the explosion, AUdrey remained conscious.
“…W-what’s going on?!”
When she turned to the source of the explosion, she meet no sight of Jessabelle anywhere.
“…Jessabelle?!” having to quickly stand up, she found that her left arm was dislocated from when she crashed on the tree.
But that didn’t bothered her as much as the disappearance of her friend.
What remained was nothing but the sight of a crater of Jessabelle’s sudden burst of tantrum.
“W-where is she?!” asked one of the Class-A students.
“…” looking around, she couldn’t feel a presence near her that was similar to Jessabelle’s. This made her worry.
“…” but at the same time, she knew that they were close to the base camp.
The best course of action that they could take right now was to go to the camp and try to ask for help from the teachers.
So, despite her guilt, she continued on to the base camp.
Unbeknownst to her, Jessabelle was found not in the mortal world.

‘What is this…’
‘…what is going on?!’
Floating in an empty void, Jessabelle found herself embracing her body as if she was a fetus sleeping inside a womb…
But seeing the place of such darkness, to her surprise, she opened up and floated with her arms out.
Despite her efforts to try and move, to her in this empty void, it seemed pointless to move without a destination. Even if she tried, it would seem as though she had not moved at all.
“…H-hello?” when she tried asking out to the void, all she could hear was her distant voice in an echo.
“What the hell…the last thing I remember was that I was in a class event…we were in the forest, running to somewhere…w-why don’t I remember?!”
When she tried to think deeply about it, all of a sudden, certain aspects of her memories were warped.
Thinking deeply, she remembered that she and the others were running back to the base camp after Jason had told them to return.
But at the same time, a different memory was emerging inside of her…
A memory that had no correlation to the memory of her present.
This memory involved her and a certain boy walking down on a field of flowers together.
“!?” to this memory, she had only reacted in shock.
“W-what?!”
In that memory of her walking arm to arm with a boy her age, his face simply brought about an blushing embarrassment to her.
She knew that boy’s face…
And then, when she thought it was over, another memory came and appeared again without her control.
This time, it was the memory of her and that boy fighting in a duel in the academy’s training center…
‘…I…I don’t remember this…’
She thought.
For in that memory, what she knew was that she was defeated by the boy….
But to the memory inside her mind, what was played was the sight of her winning against the boy…and that win resulted in her confidence to grow. But after the duel, she approached the boy and gave him her hand.
“Y-you won.” said the boy as he looked to her with acknowledgement.
And for some reason, this only made her blush even more.
“!?” that boy was none other than Soril himself, looking to her as if he acknowledged her.
“T-this wasn’t how it went!? What’s going on?!” she asked herself.
But that didn’t end there.
The next memory that appeared in her mind without her consent was the memory of them dining in a restaurant together…
And for some reason, they both seemed more mature and aged…
“W-why am I seeing this? And Why do I look like I’m in my middle twenties?!” she asked her herself.
In this memory, as they were dining, the man before her got off of his seat and knelled before her.
“Will you marry me?” he asked as he looked into her eyes with such love and adornment.
Those words alone, shocked her in ways she didn’t know how to express.
‘W-WHATT!!!?’
And in return, from her own perspective, she smiled and said yes.
Soon enough, a lot more of the memories came flooding in.
From their first honeymoon.
From the birth of their child.
From the peaceful days that came from their lives and so were the terrible days where war didn’t seem to end…
And it wasn’t just this singular memory alone.
Some memories came of her death at an early age.
Some memories came where she did not encounter the boy in her life at all.
But most memories involved the boy where she, in her own full heart was always in love.
For some reason, all of these memories were linked to a theme.
She didn’t know how long she had spent her time in that void, looking into the memories of something that she herself did not experience…
Maybe days…probably months…she could not tell…
But little by little, she came to understand one thing…
These memories were all true.
Finally, as all of those memories were shown of him and her…
Finally came a time when the memories stopped showing and she was left all alone in the void.
“W-why…why did my mind show me those memories?” she asked herself.
But to her question, all of a sudden a bright light appeared before her.
“..?”
And what showed was the figure of a beautiful princess-like appearance of a woman dressed in flames.
A woman much older than her.
“Who are you?” she asked.
“I am you…I am the true awakening of your power…”
“You’re me?”
“Yes, and what I have just shown you is the memories of your life from all lifetimes…”
“H-how? How is that possible?!” she asked.
“The Pheonix is an immortal being…we are an immortal existence that never fades even through time and even to our own death…we continue to live pass everything. But we all live the same existence as Jessabelle Morrison.”
“I-I don’t get it. How am I here?” she asked as she sounded distraught.
“Something must have triggered your true self as a phoenix inside of you. Tell me, did a spirit of our beloved awakened?”
“Spirit of your beloved?”
“’Our’… and I’m talking about Soril.”
“W-why is he in our conversation??!” she asked as he blushed at the mention of his name.
“He is the man that is destined to become one of the greatest. A man that stands besides God.”
“What?”
”He is the man that we all fall in love with…a gift that simply ties our existences of being a phoenix.”
“You’re saying that all of our existences falls for Soril? I don’t get it…there were some memories that I saw that we didn’t even get to meet Soril?”
“Yes, there are some times when his existence was not chosen by God…and mostly in those lifetimes, our world ends because everything played according to the original story written by God himself. In those timelines, we never get to meet his spirit as a warrior. We never fall for him.”
“What? I-I don’t get it?! you’re talking about God? His plan?! There’s already a lot of things happening around me that I don’t get, and I don’t really care for any of those, just tell me why am I here?!” she asked as she looked in distraught.
“Hmm, He must have awakened one of his true powers near you, which in turn activated the very powers of your true pheonix inside of you, bringing you here in return.”
“How is that possible?” she asked.
“All is possible when a phoenix truly loves only one man. We simply couldn’t resist his presence…”
“…Y-you really love him?” she asked.
“Don’t lie to yourself, I know you also have already fallen for him.” said the woman in the beautiful dress.
“…I-I do, but seeing all those memories were just a bit overwhelming.”
“It is…so what will you do?”
“What can I do?”
“We don’t have the obligation of pointing you to a direction. Every versions of ourselves took a different path…they all made their own decisions.”
“I I see, but, compared to every other lives I’ve seen in my memory, in my timeline, he’s already fallen for someone else.”
“W-what?!” the older Jessabelle was shocked to hear this.
“What do you mean that he’s already fallen for someone else!?” it was as if she sounded jealous.
“!?” and Jessabelle couldn’t be helped but be shocked by her reaction.
“Take him back!! Do whatever it takes and take him back!! He is ours! Not anyone else’s!! do you understand me?!”
Jessabelle blinked in the void, trying to process everything. The warmth from the older version of herself—this “phoenix”—was intense, like standing too close to a sun. The weight of her words echoed in Jessabelle’s mind.
“Take him back? But… Soril… he’s not mine.” The words tasted foreign on her tongue. Despite the memories flooding in, the reality she knew wasn’t that simple.
“Whether you accept it or not, this bond is eternal. In every lifetime, we are drawn to him. It’s inescapable.”
Jessabelle hesitated, her heart beating faster. She couldn’t deny that the memories stirred something deep within her—a feeling she had been trying to suppress ever since she met Soril. But this… this was overwhelming.
“I-I can’t. He’s already with someone else,” she repeated, though her resolve felt weak in the face of the phoenix’s presence.
The older Jessabelle’s eyes narrowed, her fiery aura intensifying for a moment. “Do you think that matters to a phoenix? To me? He is ours. It is our destiny.”
Jessabelle felt the heat crawling up her skin again, the flames that had once consumed her in the mortal realm now flickering faintly within her. She looked at the older version of herself, the version who had lived countless lives, and wondered… could this really be her future?
Suddenly, the older Jessabelle stepped closer, her fiery dress trailing like molten lava across the void. “I will unlock a portion of your power, as I promised. But be warned. Once you tap into this, there is no going back. You will remember everything—more and more with time.”
Before Jessabelle could respond, the older phoenix raised a glowing hand, and the space around them ignited in blinding flames. Jessabelle gasped as she felt the fire wrap around her, seeping into her skin, her bones, her very soul.
The fire didn’t burn—it awakened.
“Remember this, Jessabelle Morrison,” the older one whispered as the flames roared. “We are eternal. And our love for him… is eternal.”
“We can’t let any other woman else have him. He will forever be mine and mine alone!”
“…”
The world exploded in light, and Jessabelle felt her body being pulled, yanked out of the void and hurled back into reality.

In the mortal realm.
As Audrey was continuing on her path to the base camp, all of a sudden, she felt a disurbing presence found up ahead.
‘!?’
To her sly decision, she decided not torace towards the camp and instead sneak into it.
With how her arm was dislocated, she had to ask one of the students to help her place it back in.
“Hold my arm.” she said.
And as her classmates complied, she braced herself and popped her arm right back in its place.
“Ghk!” she struggled for a bit, but soon, she healed herself with a potion.
From here, she decided to let the others stay for a bit so that she can survey the situation in the camp. Having understood, they complied and waited.
And from here, she jumped on top of the tree and started making her way to the camp.
Soon after, her decision to not rush into the camp was right.
For from above, she could see that a man was holding everyone as a hostage.
“…”
Surveying the situation, she could see that there were only two enemies in camp. The man in the brown robe and a monster that didn’t seem like a normal dungeon monster.
Whatever it was that’s holding back the teachers and guild leaders means that she couldn’t act rashly.
But soon after, she had to act.
As the man picked up one of the students, she could see that he was about to harm them. So she had to act.
‘I can’t let this go on.’
So she jumped down and infiltrated the brown robed man.
Cutting his hand off in the process.
