For I Am A Side Character - 127: Jason's Change and Soril's Unchanging Duty.
It was chaotic…
A lot of troubles were being made as Audrey and the her classmates watched the livestream from the other class groups.
Meanwhile, Jessabelle was on her own. She looked somewhat anxious, as if she was regretting something.
“Do you think it was right to leave Jason on his own?” asked Jessabelle as she looked to Audrey.
“Je didn’t want us there… know it was wrong, but it was his choice.” said Audrey.
“…Something about him changed the moment we entered the dungeon. It was like his personality flipped.” said Jessabelle as she remembered back to a few minutes ago.
“…” Audrey could only look to Jessabelle with such a guilty expression. She was the supposed leader for this group, so having seen what just happened…she herself felt burdened.
***
About a few minutes back.
As Jason and the others stood before what seemed like the entrance to the dungeon, he had to double check his members if all of them were ready.
They checked their equipment, their potions and everything else…
And finally when they walked in, they were swallowed by the darkness.
In a common time like this, Jessabelle immediately casted a fire spell to light their way.
“Oh god! What is that smell?!” asked Jessabelle as she was able to smell it the moment they entered.
“Its weird…the environment didn’t smell like this at all just a second ago, what’s going on?” asked Audrey as she was observing her surroundings.
“It must be the work of the boss monster. They might have the ability to mess with our sense of smell.” said Jessabelle.
“Okay, either way, we’re going to go through with this. Let’s get going.” said Audrey.
But before they could move forward, Jason came about and raised his hand in the gesture that halted the others.
“Whats wrong Jason?” asked Audrey.
“…” but he was silent.
Because of the dark, they couldn’t see well about his expression. But even so, Audrey felt that something wrong was happening to Jason.
“…Go.” said Jason.
And he said it with such a stiff tone.
“What?” Jessabelle was a bit curious…
And just like Audrey, she was starting to see a change in Jason.
“Go back.” he said.
“??”
Everyone was curious. So Jessabelle walked up to him to see why he was saying such things…
But at the moment she got closer, Jason’s hand came out of nowhere and grabbed her by the throat.
“!?”
Jessabelle reacted fast enough and dodged Jason’s apprehension.
What the hell Jason?!” shouted Jessabelle.
But as she looked to Jason, she witnessed his cold, bloodlusted gaze.
“!?”
“Jason, what’s wrong with you?” asked Audrey.
But to her question, Jason simply lowered his hand and looked to the darkness beyond the dungeon.
“Starting today…I’m going there on my own.” he said.
“What?” Audrey spoke as she was worried for Jason.
“Don’t stop me…” he said. His voice echoed across the darkness. It was as if he sounded like a possessed man.
If this was before he controlled his instincts, he would have acted like a rabid dog and started hunting the source of this demonic stench in the dungeon without hesitation. He would have even hurt them in the process. But because of his growth in using his birth skill, he had enough sense of a mind to keep his calm and speak rationally.
“…You and the others go back to the base camp.”
“What?”
“I wont say it again…go back.” and this time, he said it as a threat.
Rage was fueling his emotions and his thoughts.
If he waited any longer, he would surely go rabid once again…
So he warned them.
“Jason, you’re acting really strang-” Audrey tried to reach out to him again, but out of nowhere, he emitted a strong blue flame that protected him from the others.
The blue flame errupted like a spark on a gunshot, and in this erruption of an ability, it threw everyone away to a distance. That flame acted as a shield that blocked Jason from the others…
“!?!”
everyone was taken aback by this sudden show of power.
“Blue flames…I’ve never seen this before.” said Jessabelle.
“Jason!?” Being mad, Audrey called to him for reason.
But even to their call, his expression didn’t change.
“If you step any closer, I won’t have anymore control…do you understand what I’m saying.” he said as his voice turned cold and sharp like a predator.
“…”” and everyone hearing this took it to heart.
Soon enough, he started walking alone into the darkness. And what followed behind him was the drone. The drone in all it’s likeness was programmed to follow the event in which th students were supposed to hunt, and with it’s program heavily in effect, it choose to follow Jason instead of the restt.
And to his threat, they didn’t follow.
“What do we do?” asked her classmates.
“…L-Lets go back and think in a less nauseating place. This dungeon is really messing up with my head.” said Audrey.
“But Jason is-”
“I know!….but lets just go back.” said Audrey as she sounded conflicted and defeated at the same time.
And from there, they went back outside.
Due to the conflict made by Jason’s sudden change…they didn’t know what to do.
“It might just be me…but don’t you think he was like him for a second there.” said Jessabelle to Audrey.
“Him?”
“Who I mean is…Soril.” said Jessabelle as she thought back to the first event where Soril in his own right attacked them coldly.
“…I guess you’re right. The two of them share the same kind of presence you would find in someone strong.”
“…”
“Lets go back to the base camp.” said Audrey.
“What?”
“…We’re going back, don’t expect a reason out of me, but just trust me…it’s a gut feeling.” said Audrey as she tried acting like a leader.
“…I don’t get it. Shouldn’t we wait for him to come out of the dungeon? What if he gets himself in a serious situation?” said Jessabelle as she was worried about Jason’s weird change of personality.
“Look at the other streams. Everyone is being targeted.” said Audrey as he was watching the stream of the different class groups on her phone.
As of that moment, her phone was showing a livestream of Soril’s group fighting the rotting wyvern.
She was envious of just how much teamplay was being made in that scene…but even still, she also watched the other streams and saw some grueling scenes being played.
The one that convinced her that something was strange going on was with Class-D’s stream where the students were being ravished by a werewolf who was far beyond their capabilities in handling.
“…I guess you can say that.” said Jessabelle.
“I don’t know how, but we need to go back to the base camp and see what’s going on. The teachers and the guild leaders shouldn’t have let something like this happen to the students. This level of danger shouldn’t have been set.”
“Something is happening right now and I have a bad feeling about it.”
“But what about Jason?” asked the other students.
“Judging by the look of his eye, he won’t accept our help…if anything, we’ll only probably get in the way.” she said.
After this order, the class-A group decided to leave altogether and turned their way back to the base camp.
After a few minutes, Jessica and the others arrived just about enough time for Jason to kill the monster that was inside the dark dungeon.
They have just missed the others.
And seeing this, Jessica decided to move forward with the other class groups who she needed to collect.
***
In front of me was the sight of the amazoness woman who changed in appearances altogether.
“…this form.” one thing that change about her was that she grew horns and that her skin was turning pale.
And more to it, she was starting to rot her surroundings simply by standing around.
She was exactly like the wyvern whom Soril and his group just defeated.
This confirmed his thoughts that the Purity Cult was behind this entire incident.
Seeing her change, Soril also couldn’t ignore that fact that her presence in strength had also grown.
‘…’ Soril watched as the Amazoness was reaching a level of strength that could have rivaled the fallen angel he once faced.
Feeling this familiar level of power, Soril grew a sweat.
He smirked.
He noticed that in exchange for such a power, it seems as though the Amazoness had lost all sort of reasoning. The way she was looking at him, it was as if he was prey to her.
With just a single step forward, the amazoness leaped forward like a bullet, leaving a trail of destruction behind her.
Her speed was immaculate…
But Soril reacted well enough.
He’s seen this before…this kind of level…
To him, once he’s seen something that leaves quite an impression, he simply have to act in kind.
Something of this level should never be meet in awe again…to him, this was something he should surpass…
He’s done before and he’ll do it again.
So in reciprocation of such an act, he fully intends of winning.
[Dominion Overload.]
Like a flash of a sudden growth, Soril wasted no time.
In using Dominion Overload, his entire presence changed. The entire area where they were fighting suddenly turned heavy, even to Toru who was an SS-rank at strength and capabilities, find it hard to breath under his veil of power.
His sheer dominating presence was like a mountain being stacked on her back. Heavy and unnatural, Toru couldn’t help but feel an insensible amount of fear. It was as if she was facing off against an entirely different person.
Death awaits an enemy…
Execution is the only role that must be put when facing against a person who offends God’s plan…
And to no matter of hesitation, what stood before Soril was an enemy just like any other.
His growth towards using Dominion Overload simply took everything by a storm.
In his sudden growth of power, Toru who watched from the sidelines, recognized this power all to well.
It was here that she realized how someone like Soril was able to overwhelm someone like Agifell who was considered one of the strongest in their group.
If Soril could kill Agifell, then he would not have any problem killing someone like Casitrix.
So she felt burdened and shocked in this realization.
It was pointless for Casitrix to go all out from the start.
“Cas! Run away!” she screamed.
But as Casitrix went on to her leap, she only meet Soril’s right hook in return.
As if to disgrace Casitrix’s efforts, she was easily struck by Soril’s hand. And the force of his power alone caused the entire trees to sway as if it was being pulled by a storm.
It threw Casitrix away down on the dirt all but too easily.
But that wasn’t the end. Despite the powerful showcase of power that was nearly that of a heaven’s reach, Casitrix perservered.
Out of the clutter of the dirt where she landed, she tried standing up, and in her efforts she succeeded.
Like a raging hulk, she screamed to Soril…but her efforts were in vain. For when she tried to scream, what only came out from her voice was the sound of a gurggling mess.
It was here that she discovered that her entire jaw missing. Soril had torn it off with a single fist.
“!!??”” both of them were shocked…
To the shock of it all, Casitrix, the person who Toru thought had lost all common sense, the monster who screams like a giant.
Casitrix; after losing her jaw, she could not scream…
And what followed were tears.
Casitric, the amazoness monster was crying. she cried in the realization that she could not win nor claim any sort of pride agaisnt Soril…
It was a show of fear and desperation.
“Peask…donk…ki…me…” she tried pleading…even to the lost of her jaw, even to the barely discernible words…she pleaded for mercy…
She kneeled to Soril…
A monster who grew back her own conscious out of fear and realization.
But all she met in return was the same powerful, but cold merciless gaze.
“Heaven’s Rift…”
With a single whisper to this skill, Soril raised his sword and he turned to Casitrix with such ferocity…
‘Mercy shall not come to those who goes against God.’
And to this thought, he swung his sword gracefully…following down a beam of bright light…
…and from it, Heaven’s Rift swallowed Casitrix whole.
Kneeling as if begging for some second chance, defenseless against anything that was before her…
The last thing she experienced were the echoes that felt like it came from the heavens…and a light that showed such a magnanimous amount of grace and death.
“…Ah.” with no thoughts left in her head, her life was taken.
All she met in the end, was her life’s end and everything else behind her.
Heaven’s Rift…
One of the most powerful skills in Soril’s awakened arsenals.
In his fight against Agifell inside the hidden vault, using it would cause the entire vault to shake like a magnitude of an earthquake. Because the vault was reinforced to take on such heavy attacks, it didn’t seem like much to Soril when he used it against Agifell.
But in this time…
When he released such a skill out to the open world…
The effects were simply greater.
Everything was swallowed and torn apart.
And to the witness of such a power, Toru had no way of ever knowing that he was such a monster.
Soril Remus…
A boy whose talents reach further than the heavens…
A boy whose skill as a warrior could rip apart land, sea and sky…
Soril Remus…
‘He truly is…God’s agent.’
In Toru’s thoughts…she felt weak down to her knees. In her efforts to stay standing, all she meet in return was the sight of Soril’s gaze on her.
“Her efforts were in vain.” he said as he looked to Toru.
“You should’ve run away when you had the chance…now, you’re in my hands now.”
