For I Am A Side Character - 125: Soril's Delimma.
I lied…
Even when I told her about the truth of myself…I lied again.
Even now, I still fully can’t involve her in this life…
Why…
Why did I think that I could?
It was obvious that from the beginning, nothing good will ever come from this job…
The only thing that came about today, was that someone died… someone died today because of what I lacked to prepare…
“FUCK!”
I hate myself…
I’m never going to be enough.
That’s never going to change…
“I need to find Juel fast!”
Searching through the skies, the moment I got out of the dungeon, I tried to search for any trail left by the purity cult…but nothing. I got nothing. These people are great at hiding their tracks…
They know exactly what to do in this situation…
They must have planned it out from the start.
‘Come on…think…what can I do? What can I do to find him…to save him…’
Just as what happened at the end of the first volume, some things changed…they changed so much that I could never predict what would happen then…
My information is too limited…
The only reason I was able to succeed was because of Adifer…
“Fuck!”
***
The reason why Soril had to come to this part of the forest alone instead of having the rest of his group follow him was because his actions would be limited if ever the cultist were there.
The cultist were too unpredictable as of today…
So if his classmates were dragged even more into his mess, he couldn’t forgive himself if they got hurt. That was why he separated himself away from Jessica. He gave her the only artifact that would secure her escape from any sort of danger.
He knew for a fact that the cult was after Miles or Juel…he was one of the main pieces needed to activate a gate towards the other world…
Now that they got him, it seems as though this entire story was leading into the unknown…
And not knowing anything simply doesn’t help in the situation.
‘Think…the cult is after the artifacts. I have the one of those artifacts while Jessica has the other. And as for the cult, they have Juel…what then? What can I do to salvage this mess?’
Soril knew for a fact that there was still another artifact left that needed to be find. He knew of this because of his completion towards obtaining the second artifact. Once he obtained the second artifact, God’s system was able to inform Soril of the last Artifact…
But that Artifact is yet to be found next week. And the Cult can’t find this artifact if Will Tucker isn’t involved. Will Tucker is the only current source of information when locating the artifacts needed…but now, they no longer have any sort of control over Will Tucker.
Having put a seal on his head by Gypsy, the cult shouldn’t be able to find him…all except for the fact that he still goes to the academy.
‘Shit, what if the cult is after Will yet again…fuck, things are getting more and more complicated.’
He had to decide…
It was to either find Juel Miller or save Will Tucker…
In the context of their own uses, both brought in benefits to the events of the future…
Juel had the blood of the elves in his veins…which was vital to the gate.
While Will was a rare species of man that was born with the ability to find artifacts…
If both were compared, it was hard to figure out which was more valuable as of the moment.
‘What do I do…who do I prioritize?!’
What would happen?
What would really happen if he saved one and ignored the other…
He couldn’t save them both at the same time…so he had to think hard.
‘If I save Will, I can easily find the next artifact on the next mission…and but if I look for Juel, I could lose Will…but no, that shouldn’t be the end….think…what should happen?!’
Thinking hard as the time was not stopping for anyone, he had to think critically.
‘Think….think it all over from the start and end at the same time….one thing is for sure is that t-they need Juel alive when activating the gates…and more than that, they need every other artifact to use the gate. So one way or the other, they will look for me…but they can’t look for me without Will by their side.”
It was at that moment, that something clicked with Soril.
“Meaning, that even if Juel is captured, his life won’t be lost…I can still save him! It’s a rough risk, but it’s worth something…it’s the only sure thing I can do as of the moment! And that’s to save Will from the cultist!!”
As quick as his decision was as of that moment, he made no stops in going to Will Tucker.

“Hmm, strange…”
“What is it?”
“The 5th was right…someone down there is surprisingly showing a rather large amount of energy. Do you think he’s the target?”
“How strong is his energy?”
“Well….don’t let your jaw drop, but he’s strength right now is just as comparable as that as yours and mine.”
“Really? If that is the case…he must be the one who claimed the artifact from the orcs. What should we do? Should we report it to the Fifth?”
“Nah…I want to make it a surprise. Let’s take that boy’s body with us and give it to the 5th! I’m sure he’ll praise both of us once we get someone like him down on the church.”
“I don’t really care for 5th’s praise, lets just get this bastard already. If anything, I’m more worried about the ‘Blasphemer’.”
“Really? Do you think the Blasphemer would be here right now out of all things? What are the chances of him being here?”
“Very highly if anything. Out of all the current missions our group has underwent, we’ve already lost Agifell…I’m scared that if the Blasphemer were to ever arrive, we don’t have a chance against him.”
“Well, if it does come to that, we can always run away…”
“An what if we can’t? Agifell was far stronger than we were and she was defeated!”
“You’re too paranoid. If it ever does come to that, we can always resort to using the group’s ‘Red Call.’”
“…The red call should only ever be used on emergencies. But you’re right…it’s a last ditch effort.”

Out from the sky, as Soril was making his way to Will, he tried contacting him by his phone.
But Will wouldn’t pick up.
‘Shit, he must be in quite the trouble if he can’t pick up my call!’
Seeing as how Will couldn’t answer, Soril had to hasten his speed even more…
But out of nowhere, I bright ray of light fell from the sky.
“!!?” struck directly from his back, he was inflicted with a large dose of damage. It was unexpected…he could not react in time to even defend himself in any way possible.
The force of the attack was so strong, it forced Soril to crash down to the ground.
*BOOM!*
‘…W-what’s happening?!?’ even as his face was stuck to the ground like a pancake, the light from the sky did not stop pouring down on his body. The unbelievable pressure of this attack was so fierce, caused the area around him to be blown away.
As he struggled to stay alive, even as the power from the skies fell down, he noticed that before him, something landed…
Although he couldn’t see because of how bright the attack was, he could tell that someone was there…
The light poured down for over a minute…until finally, it ended…
And once this attack was over, it showed the sight of Soril’s armor being burnt to a crisp…what was only left was his burned back.
“Hmm, looks like a single shot was all that we needed.” said the girl who was carrying a weird staff that somehow resembled that of a frilly magical girl’s staff from the anime’s that Soril once recognized in his past life.
And the other was a simple warrior carrying a spear and a shield on hand. It reminded Soril of a fictional race called the amazoness.
Both were women who somewhat seemed more older than Soril was…yet even so, they had a rather dangerous aura around them.
‘Fuck…who are they?’
As he questioned this, soon enough the girl wearing what seemed like a frilly magical girl outfit came forward with a rather disgusted expression.
“Hey, I think we killed him. Look, I think I cooked his back…ew.” said the girl. As she looked disgusted by it.
“Hmm, really? Then I think he wasn’t all that strong to begin with. Oh well, let’s take his body with us and bring it back to the church. I’m sure we can wipe his memories and use him as one of our walking puppets.” said the amazoness.
“True…if someone were to even live strongly enough to not burn all the way through against my lovey lovey beam, then I’m sure they’re not normal to begin with.” as she said this, she then raised her wand again, ready to cast another spell…but before she could, the amazoness stopped her.
“Wait, something’s off…”
“What?”
“He’s still alive…keep your distance away from him. It might bee dangerous to lower your guar-.” but before the amazoness could even finish her sentence, Soril rose from the ground with bloodshot eyes and he lunge himself forward to the nearest girl.
His armor was broken, so as he stood up at an unbelievable pace, everything around him scattered like a spray of bullets.
It caught the girl’s attention all but too suddenly, so much so, she could not fully defend herself.
With nothing else at hand, Soril simply used his hand and thrusted it the same way he would with a spear.
With every inch of strength he had at his position, he came forward with the intent to kill.
It didn’t mattered who they were…they attacked first with the same intention as murder.
And all but in a blink of an eye, Soril pierced the girl’s shoulder.
“!?” the girl was in shock…
‘He’s fast!’
And as Soril’s hand was inside her body, he wanted to finish it by dragging his hand across her body in a slashing movement, but before he could, the amazoness came with her spear and struck Soril from his blind-spot.
Hit by the side of his chest, he turned his eye to the amazoness for only less than a minuscule of a moment. In that speck of a second, Soril decided to keep all his attention at the person who he had a chance at killing first. The girl who was a cosplaying as a magical girl.
Even as the spear was digging down on his chest, he moved forward with killing the magical girl…
But it was too late…
Soril didn’t have the chance to finish her off.
For in the moment when he turned his eyes to the amazoness, the magical girl had already pressed her magical staff down at his chest as well.
[Lovey Lovey Beam – Quick Shot!]
*BOOM!!*
And like a point blank shot of a sniper rifle down at a person chest, it blew Soril away from the magical girl in all but an instant.
“Khk!!” Soril drew blood from his mouth as the Magical Girl’s attack was able to disrupt his entire breathing.
But despite the magical girl’s attempt, Soril was not killed.
Her attack was too sudden for her to even cast it properly. All it did was cause Soril to be pushed back.
But it did some damage.
Making a few distance from one another, it gave the chance for the amazoness to see the condition of the Magical Girl.
“Are you okay?” she asked as she looked worried.
“I-I’m fine…don’t let your eyes away from that bastard…he’s still alive.” she said as she was looking pale.
Blood was dripping from her shoulders from Soril’s thrust. And from the looks of the damage he inflicted, his hand was able to pierce through her shoulder, leavign a small hole for her to peek through.
‘He’s strong…he was able to pierce through my skin barrier like it was nothing…fuck, I can’t use my other hand at this rate.’ thought the magical girl as she was struggling with her breathing.
Seeing that her comrade was injured, the amazoness was enraged.
“…” gritting her teeth like an enraged orc, she turned to Soril with the fury and bloodlust of an untamed animal.
But as she turned to Soril, all she met back was the eyes of a colder beast…more angrier beast.
“!!” the amazoness was stunned.
Before her and the magical girl stood a man whose presence was somehow changed. Power…authority…the unstoppable image of a man who might as well be reflected as a warrior…a true warrior…
The Amazoness knew this presence all too well…
“T-this energy…this feeling…it’s dangerous!” said the magical girl as her face turned even paler.
“…” stunned by the sight of Soril, the amazoness couldn’t move from her place.
“Who are you bastards?” asked Soril as he stood from the distance.
“We’d like to ask the same thing…who are you?” asked the amazoness.
“So…is that it? You attacked me out of nowhere, but you didn’t even know who I was? Really?”
“…” in his change of presence, the amazoness raised her spear in fear.
“…Why won’t you answer me? And most of all… why are you getting in my way?” asked Soril.
“We thought that you were an enemy…” said the magical girl, as during that time, she was buying herself enough time in that conversation to heal herself with her magic.
“Tell us, who are you?” asked the amazoness.
“I don’t care enough to give my own name…but let me ask you this.”
“W-what?”being curious, the magical girl raised her staff in ready of any sort of attack.
“…Are with the purity cult?”
As Soril asked this, in just a moment, the magical girl’s eyes twitched in reaction to the name of the group.
And that was all it took for Soril to guarantee his decision to do something with the two.
“W-we don’t know what you’re talking about.” said the amazoness as she sounded nervous.
Her tone was clearly expressed with fear. Showing that even to her words, she was lying.
Feeling that no truth was going to be said at that moment, Soril decided to provoke them.
“…Does the name Agifell ring a bell?”
“!!?”
“!!?”
Both were shocked to hear that name.
The lost of a comrade…
The 10th fallen seat…
One of the many companions who came to follow their group…
“Its…you. The Blasphemer!” shouted the magical girl in rage.
“Blasphemer?” Soril was confused.
‘…T-this is dangerous…if he really is the Blasphemer…the one hunting down our group…then we don’t stand a chance. Agifell was already stronger than the two of us combined, so what kind of chance do we even have of defeating him?’
Despite her fears, the amazoness was the more calmer one in the situation. She evaluated quickly that both of them didn’t have a chance against Soril.
After all, their strength as of now could never compare to Agifell…the one who once claimed the 10th fallen seat.
“Well, I guess that’s the name you gave me right? Doesn’t that name mean that I’m a heretic or something?” asked Soril.
“You were branded with such a name because of your actions towards our group! You going against the truth is what granted you that name.” said the magical girl.
“I see…but it’s not a very flattering name.” said Soril.
“Oh…speaking of names, can I ask what your names are?” asked Soril as he was curious about their identities.
“…”
“…”
But all it came from his question was silence.
Seeing as how he was not being given an answer, he decided to take a step forward.
But just right after he took one, the two flinched in fear.
“I-I’m Casitrix…the 11th fallen seat.” said the amazoness.
“And I’m Toru…the 9th fallen seat.” said the magical girl.
They both responded to fear…and Soril could tell all too easily why.
“Really? Hmm, from what I remembered, Agifell was the 10th and she was already quite strong…so, ‘Toru’….since you’re the 9th, does that mean that you’re stronger than Agifell?” asked Soril.
“I am.” without any sort of hesitation, Toru answered Soril.
“Really? But you don’t seem so strong?” asked Soril.
‘Hmm, both of them claimed a seat in the cult…judging by the fight earlier, their confidence in their strength might have some backing. But their afraid…this could be my chance.’
