For I Am A Side Character - 115: I Love You, Dammit!
Out in a time when the world first bloomed with dungeons and monsters. This change created by God started to create unusual yet what seemed like natural changes to the world…and out of many natural causes, a fairy was born in the world of Atlanta.
And the first person to ever witness this sight was a young warrior who found himself lost in the woods
This fairy…was the very first ever fairy to be born. And because of her grand birth, she was granted the title of Queen. She knew that from the very start, she was a queen…and she knew her responsibilities then and there.
And the warrior on the other hand was simply by his own. Lost and hungry…the warrior was on the verge of his death.
Due to the kind nature of a child-like queen, she gave help to the warrior…and that help brought out the boy’s feelings towards the fairy.
The boy fell in love all but too easily..
And in return for being able to survive his slow death because of the fairy, he gave his life to her. To serve her in no matter what issue.
Time went by and the population of the fairy’s existence grew little by little. And the one who made it all possible was the warrior who gave his life to the fairy. He did what the fairy could not do in her current form.
And through the years, both the fairy queen and the warrior continue to grow in both strength and emotions for one another…
Both even assumed that they would be wed together, but as that decision was nearing, a troubling issue grew.
And the warrior’s life was lost because of this.
And with this lost, the fairy queen went into a raging conquest to tear away the sole person who took her lover away. But as she went into this conquest, her duties as a queen were forgotten…
Half a century went by and her conquest was finally fulfilled…but in payment for her revenge, the lives of her young citizens. The fairies who were abandoned, slowly but surely died one after another due to the insolence of the fairy queen. Because of how wick some of the fairies were with no leader to guide them in their survival, the fairies became an easy target to the predators of the forest.
In return to this disgrace of an act, in her own accord, she vowed then and there that she would forever commit herself to the duties of a queen…
Through the years, the numbers of her fairies grew as well as the number of Mother Trees to bloom the fairies. And because of the growing number of her people, she needed to find a way to keep them safe.
As years passed by, she was able to build connections to people who could be trusted.
One of those people was the person who created the house of shadows.
With the agreement that the fairies would assist the house in matters that they were available, the house of shadows would in return help the fairies.
And with that, this friendship was built. In result of such an agreement, the fairy’s numbers grew even larger and the safer than ever before. This went on for many years to come.
But at a point not so recently, she was brought into one of the branches of the house of shadows…and to her surprised, before her was a spirit of a boy who she was reminded of her past lover.
Strong…fiery…yet graceful at the same time.
To see this blazing glory before her, she could not contain the reminiscent past she held for such a long time. She thought she had forgotten…but the sight of this spirit alone, brought her back her memories.
But as the duties of a fairy queen, some things must come first before her own emotions.
She vowed upon her own accord that she would not once again abandon her people over the emotions she carried once in the past. So her duties must come first before all.
{What have you brought upon me today?} she asked the gray fairy light, as she stood ever gazing down on the spirit that the boy held before her.
{Its strange your majesty, but we cannot approach the boy. He is too fierce…it would burn us even more if we approach him like so.} said the gray fairy who had the highest rank out of all the fairies in the room.
{I understand…please go back into rest, I shall handle this on my own.} she said.
{As you wish, your majesty.} from then on, the fairies went back into hiding upon the tree…
And what was left was the fairy queen who came to judge the boy before her.
With how the fairies were granted a different language since birth, it was difficult to communicate to a human without any sense of practice. But with how the fairy queen spent her early days with a human in the past, she was able to gain the knowledge to create a spell that would break the boundary of language from any sort of living being. This speel would work on trees and even monsters themselves who lived inside the dungeons.
All but so easily, she was able to put magic upon herself.
“Ahem…can you understand me now?” she asked as she floated like a butterfly in front of Soril.
“…I can.” said Soril. But unbeknownst to him, he did not understand that what stands before him today was the fairy queen.
All but immediately upon the queen’s arrival into this room, all of the clan members bowed upon her grace. Even Jessica herself was asked to bow before the queen upon Cecil’s request.
“May I ask for your name?” asked the queen as she stood curious about the boy’s identity.
“Soril Remus…” he said.
“And may I ask again, to what judgement must be bestowed upon your place of reason? Why have you come before me in such a manner?” she asked in a courteous manner.
“I was asked to be judged upon the truth of my identity.”
“And what truth are you asking for under the statement of your identity?” she asked as she did expect this to be the case of the boy’s arrival.
To her, she was more intrigue by the issue of the boy’s reminiscent burning spirit. But what came next out of Soril’s mouth simply gave her a surprise.
“That I am God’s agent…I work for him in the efforts that I right his wrongs.” he said with a straight face.
And upon hearing this, the members of the clan couldn’t help but raise their heads in surprise.
“G-god’s agent?” even the fairy queen herself stuttered upon his statement.
“I am…see to it for yourself whether or not I am lying.” he said.
“…to put upon the title of God himself, one must either be a lost cause or…a man true to his word.” said the fairy queen, who even she herself has not been granted the grace of meeting god once in her entire life. Despite her title, God gave no notice to her existence.
“Judge me if you can. I simply want to have this day end.” said Soril.
“Very well…” from there, although hesitant and slightly curious, the queen raised her hand upon judgement and she turned to look ever so deeply behind Soril’s words.
‘Surely, he is lying right?’ she thought to herself by how absurd his statement was.
But surely, her expression changed as she digs deeper into the soul of the boy’s existence. Through her ability to look into the body’s spirit and purity, she dug through his past and innocence for any sort of connection to his words.
‘This sensation…it truly resembles him.’ thought that fairy queen as she was reminded of the past warrior who she adored ever so dearly in the past.
But soon enough…something inside this boy’s spirit halted her movements…
True to the boy’s words…the fairy had seen the sign of what it means to work under the eyes of God. It was a symbol that showed that he had authority even higher than that of the fairy queen herself.
What she had seen inside him was God’s will…an authority that would make him no different from that of God himself.
An authority even higher than that of the Queen of Fairies.
“…” shaking in the fear of what she had discovered, she slowly pulled away her hands and she looked to the boy ever sweating like a nervous child who saw a ghost.
“….” Soril could tell all but easily just what kind of proof the fairy had seen inside of him. The fear of witnessing something close to what is a God is something more fearful than that of the sight of a demon standing before a man.
“…it’s true.” she said as she looked away from the boy. The guilt…the fear…her insolence as a fairy….she felt like a sinner peeking into the soul of which god has chosen.
“This boy…is under the orders of God’s work. Do not interfere with whatever it is that he intends to do in the future!” she said angrily so.
From then on, she quickly turned her back and disappear into thin air with a flash of light. Through her fears, she could not fully keep her mind sane with what she had just seen. Irritated and afraid, she didn’t have the strength to face something similar to that of God.
She left nothing but those words…
And from then on, only Soril was left still chained on the stone disc.
“It seems that we’re done here. Now that it is settled that my disciple is under God’s authority, I no longer want any form of harassment from any other branches of the house of shadows. Effective immediately, under my order, you will leave him to his work! Do you understand me?!” said Master Yagami as he quickly took action to clear the whole room.
But that wasn’t enough…to some people, they were just too curious.
Because out of nowhere, a man from one of the members of the house of shadows appeared behind Soril at a blitzing speed.
And ever so strongly, this man pulled out a dagger from his side and aimed to strike Soril in his blind spot..
*Clack!*
Yet despite his efforts…he couldn’t even have his arms reach Soril’s skin…
And instead, he found himself braced into the air by Soril’s hands. His neck was held tight by a grip so strong, that it felt like the man who attacked could have been killed in a single thought made by Soril’s decision.
With the chains which once held his body captive, it now falls to the floor in broken chunks.
And him being free, he stared at the man who attempted to take his life.
“…” Soril didn’t need to say anything and only let his strength spoke of his intentions.
“…” the man was silent…in the realization of his attempt, the movement of his feet was the perfection of using the emissary steps of the ghost. It was a speed only comprehensible by a master of the house of shadows. So for Soril to keep his pace even further than the man’s step, only made it true that he had perfected…and maybe even outdone himself against the man who tried to kill him.
“Who is this?” asked Master Yagami who took caution of the man’s attempt to kill.
“That man is from the third branch.”
“The third branch? Hmm, I see. Soril, let him go.”
“Why should I?” asked Soril.
“The Third Branch is known to be quite the troublesome group out of all of the branches of the house. Us letting him go will only make things easier in the long run. So for now, give him mercy.” Ordered Master Yagami.
In the slight loosening of his hand, the man was able to quickly escape his grip. And from then on, the man fled like a rat out to the thick forest.
And from then on, Soril started making his way out of this dark room. As he made his way out, Jessica followed behind him with a nervous view.
From the sight of him apprehending the attacker, she was only ever surprised by how fast his actions were.
To her, they were inhumane. Even without blinking, she could not see those movements as something possible for a human to do. If anything, only someone beyond human was capable of reacting to such an attack at such a blind spot.
Seeing that moment, she was nervous of the person who she thought she knew…
As they made their way out, the others moved away to clear his path.
It was in this moment that Soril became an untouchable figure in the house of shadows. Under the proof of the fairy queen’s presence and his master’s orders, he was now back to being God’s agent. Unhindered by the eyes of the house of shadows.

After a while, it didn’t take long for the guest of the house to leave under his Master’s orders. Even the woman who was dressed in a black suit also left…Leaving only the four of them here in the dojo.
Yet although it may seem like everything has been settled, another issue came to mind. An issue that revolves around the involvement of Jessica who was dragged into the house of shadows.
With nothing yet said in a time where it was perfectly applicable…
Soril was nervous…
As the two of them watched the night sky, with them sitting by the wooden floors, Soril couldn’t help but be placed in such a tight place.
“…” his silence was overwhelming. To this moment, he was more nervous than ever before compared to what just happened a moment ago.
“Jessica…”
“Y-yes?” all but immediately, Jessica stuttered in her words with how nervous she was.
“…What do you plan to do now?” he asked.
“What do you mean?”
“You still have a chance to leave.” he said as he looked down on the floor.
“…Leave?”
“With how things are moving right now, to me…its best that you leave.”
“W-what?” from that request alone, it felt like Jessica’s heart broke.
“They say that ignorance can be a blessing in disguise…and I wholeheartedly agree with that statement.”
“…W-what are you saying?” she asked.
“You know full well that what I’m hiding isn’t a simple secret. Its not something that any person should ever take lightly…and I don’t want you to be involved in something like this.”
“…but you promised me that you would tell me.” she said weakly.
“Take this seriously!” he said in a fit of anger.
“I am! But I feel like you’re to scared that I wouldn’t be able to handle it! I said that I would be here for you and I wouldn’t run away! Those words aren’t lies….not to me…and especially not for you!” she said as she did her best to face Soril.
“…” Soril could only grip his hand tight…he knows full well just how far Jessica would go for him, but that isn’t the issue that he’s having a hard time.
Even to his promise that he would tell the truth, he couldn’t bare to see just where this truth would take Jessica knowing her character as a person.
He tired acting angry to try and push her away…but to see that she wouldn’t budge only made his heart ache. He didn’t want to shout at her nor do anything to hurt her. But more than anything, he didn’t want to drag her into this mess…
Soril felt a wave of guilt wash over him as he tried to find the right words. The truth was a burden he wasn’t sure Jessica could carry, no matter how much he wanted to believe in her strength.
“Jessica…” he began, his voice turned softer now, almost as if he was pleading. “I don’t want to hurt you. But if you stay, you’ll be dragged into something you can’t walk away from.”
Jessica’s eyes narrowed, her determination unshaken. “Then tell me what it is, Soril. Let me decide for myself. You owe me that much after everything we’ve been through.” she said as she wanted to be invited in by Soril’s own accord.
Soril hesitated, the weight of his secret pressing down on him like a mountain. He could feel the tension in the air, thick and suffocating. The night was quiet around them, the stars above seemingly indifferent to the turmoil in his heart.
“You don’t understand,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “I was chosen for something… something beyond human understanding. It’s not just about me, Jessica. It’s about the fate of this world, and the things I have to do… they aren’t easy to explain.”
Jessica’s gaze softened as she reached out, her hand finding his. “Soril, I don’t care about the danger. I care about you. I’ve seen the strength you carry, but I’ve also seen how much it weighs on you. The way you acted here and the way you acted at the academy…they’re both so different. In here, you feel so burdened by this duty that you carry around so much, it almost feels like you’re carrying a mask when you go to the academy or even when you talk to me…I don’t want to see that. I don’t want you to carry this burden by yourself. So please.”
For a moment, Soril allowed himself to imagine what it would be like to let her in completely, to share the darkness and the light. But that moment passed quickly, replaced by the cold reality of his situation. He knew that revealing everything could shatter the innocence she still had, the innocence he was trying to protect.
“Even if I tell you,” he began, his voice trembling slightly, “there’s no guarantee you’ll understand. And once you know, there’s no going back. It will change everything.”
“I’m not afraid…not when it involves you.” Jessica replied firmly. “I’m afraid of losing you because you’re too scared to let me in.” she said as she held tight of his arm.
Soril looked into her eyes, seeing the earnest plea in them. It pained him to think of pushing her away, but he knew he had to try one last time.
“Jessica…I-” but before he could say anything, Jessica pushed herself even more so to convince Soril.
“I love you, you bastard! Don’t you get that!?” she said with an angered tone.
“…”
“I love you…and I would do anything for you. Be it to take on the world, or to face God?! Whatever!! I love you…I love you….I really love you!!” as she continued to say that she loved Soril, she could only rest her head on his chest as she pleaded to him that no longer would she sit by the sidelines while he goes on to face the world by his own.
She loves her…and that was all it would take to break open the barriers of his worries.
“I…I love you.” he said in return as he embraced her as if to never let go.
