- 114: The Deep Chamber's Where a Room of Fairies Linger.
To whatever reason Soril holds in his position…
To why he fights?
One would assume that it is simply because he was asked by God…
But from the very start, Soril has never known why he fights…why he acts under the order of God…
To live a life like so? To fight in dangerous battles that would take his life if he was ever so careless? A life like this is something that shouldn’t be considered reasonable?
But he fights nonetheless…
And it was simply born under his trust for what is rightfully right…
To help…
To change fate…
Although he considers himself a person who barely understands fate…he fights and changes his fate and all of those around him.
Because in truth, he is the anomaly…
Nothing more and nothing less…
But that doesn’t make him any different from those who walked in the very world he was standing in right now. Every single person before him has their very own free will…
But each will is tied to a fate that could only be cut and changed by him…him and his actions.
God’s work is very intricate…delicate to the touch…
If he ever was a reckless entity without a plan, he wouldn’t be much of a God would he?
But nonetheless…he was a God who made a mistake…because of his ever growing heart, he loved too much and his love betrayed every other creation he had made…
And so he brought in a boy unbounded by fate, to fix his mistake.
A boy who broke all sense of wonder simply to move on forward…
And now…here he was near the cliff of the mountain
To be judge and to be identified…
And to be judged fairly, only a being of a higher power would see to it that he would be looked upon.
And as to the ritual, Soril stood with his arms cuffed and his legs chained.
This ritual was known as a way to bring down judgement upon those who were suspected to be enemies and spies who worked against the house of shadows. And to judge this moment, the court of the house would call upon certain powers to see through the very lies of the suspect.
They didn’t rely upon the judgement of their own heads, but the heads of which carried their powers.
And for certain powers to be called upon, certain ranks would be needed.
With the many works that the house of shadows have done over the years, it wasn’t surprising to know that for a clan that is tasked to keep evil at bay, they were able to form relationships with entities that go beyond human life.
Entities like fairies and other certain powers. Its because of their grand work, their powers have grown quite well over the years.
For a judgement equivalent to a small crime such as thief and cheating, one would call upon the purity of a known being called a fairy.
Fairies were known for their innocence and unbiased judgement. And as well as this, they were known as entities that were able to look into the personality of one’s soul. Meaning, a suspect could not lie himself out of a fairy’s judgement. Be it how cunning a person may be, a fairy’s eyes are unmatched against any form of lie.
Yet not every crime is small and unclean as thievery or cheating, some crimes are as higher than one would should even forgive. Crimes such as betrayal to the clan…for crimes such as these, one would call upon the judgement of a higher ranked fairy.
For fairies, they are ranked simply by the hierarchy of their purity. The higher a fairy is ranked, the higher their purity is shown.
And with the judgement that lies before Soril who was claimed to be God’s agent…the house could only ever wonder as to what rank of a fairy would show up before them today.
So with that said, Soril was being lead into the deep chambers of the house.
It was here that they walked into the basement which lead Soril and the many others a place where many rooms were built. Rooms meant as a way to train the students of the house of shadows.
It was here that the stone of hollow time was found in a corner, the room that was unbounded by sound was held and another room filled with water reaching to their legs were found.
Many rooms was built in this basement to hold a seclusive training place.
And one of those rooms held a light that was unlike any other.
That room itself was the place of judgement…a room that held significant Importance that defined purity.
And as they neared this room…
Soril could only look ahead with not a sense of guilt…
He was not guilty of anything…
But his identity was being questioned.
If they wanted proof…this room will provide it.
****
As they ventured into this basement, the one who was most surprised out of all was Jessica who followed behind Master Yagami and Cecil. With how Soril was being judged, Jessica couldn’t stand beside him to support him in this time…but she always had her eyes on him…making sure to not turn away…
The impression she held for this underground chamber was more one could feel towards anything…
It was dark…wet…and unnerving. To her, it felt like she was walking at a quiet nightmare, where to the corner of her eye, she could feel a gaze of some sort of shadow lurking about. It might just be her imagination, but nonetheless, the atmosphere of the chamber was not to be taken light of.
‘…Soril wasn’t joking when he mentioned this place to be unordinary.’ she thought.
Finally as they came to the room for judgement, when they opened the door…along with the torches that they carried, Jessica was met with the sight of a large tree spanning over at a height of ten meters tall inside this dark room.
“H-how is it possible that a tree was able to grow here without a speck of sunlight?” asked Jessica to Master Yagami.
“The answer to that question lies beyond the entities caring for the tree.” answered Master Yagami.
From there, he pointed to the air.
“I-I don’t see anything.” said Jessica.
“Hmm, they will show themselves soon enough. After all, they have visitors to tend to.” said Master Yagami.
From here, Soril was placed in a stoned carved disk fit enough only to host one person. Here, he would be judged.
And to the notice of their arrival, soon enough something happened inside this dark room.
Little by little, Soril and Jessica started to notice glimpses of light appearing above the tree’s branches. It reminded them of what seemed like glowing fruits that showed such a gentle glow.
“…What are those things?” asked Jessica.
“Those are the fairies…the judges of our crime.” said Cecil.
“Those fairies are going to judge Soril?”
“Yes, it is with them that they will see through the statements that Soril will tell upon question. If he lies, the fairies will not favor him, and if he tells the truth, the fairies will adore his honesty. It’s a simple but a true sense of judgement.”
“…I’ve never heard of this before? And more than anything, why are fairies here? I thought they existed only in dungeons?” asked Jessica.
“Fairies may be considered an entity that once lived in dungeons…but the fairies here, they were raised by this world and they grew into the very tree that stands before us today. They were born simply to guard this tree before us.” said Cecil.
“What’s so special about the tree?” asked Jessica.
“…its known as the mother tree. Many of it is scattered through out the world, where it’s the house of the shadow’s responsibility to guard it with their life. Because of the friendship we formed with the fairies a long time ago, we promised to keep their tree safe…and along with that, they help us in manners that only they are capable of.” said Cecil
“…The Mother Tree is a great existence known not only for birthing fairies out into the world, but also keeping the world alive. Its because of this tree that we know for a fact that the world is in a healthy state…if all the mother trees were to show signs of death and decay, it would be a sign of the world’s end.”
“So if they were cut down all over the world, does that mean that the world would end?!” asked Jessica as she was a bit taken aback by this thought.
“Yes, but there’s nothing to worry about. Each world tree is protected by the house of shadows…our service to keeping it alive is nothing but our necessity to keep our friendship with the fairies.” said Master Yagami.
“I see…so when will the judgement start?” asked Jessica.
“…In time when the fairies have come to understand that whoever stands on the stone disk is the one who shall be judged. It’s their custom. Look, as you can see the fairies have already begun their evaluation towards Soril. Because he was placed on the stone disk, he will now be judged.” said Master.
From the way the fairies looked upon Soril’s standing…dozens…no, maybe yet, hundreds turned to him with a rather odd impression.
‘…Its odd.’ thought Cecil as he observed the very colors of each fairy who turned their attention to Soril.
“You’ve noticed it as well, haven’t you.” said Master Yagami as he too looked upon the fairies.
“…Yes, they are not approaching Soril.” said Cecil.
‘…What’s going on?’ thought Soril as he looked upon the sight of the glowing light above the skies.
‘Although this is my first time seeing the fairies, I didn’t expect them to look like a bunch of hoarding fireflies…’ he thought.
But as he observed the fairies, soon enough one of the many clan members stood up in notice of the changes that were presented by the fairies.
“Something is wrong. This shouldn’t be their actions. Why are they staying away from the boy?!” he shouted to the many who was observing the situation.
“Tell me whats going on master.” said Soril as he called out to his master.
“From the words of our members, the fairies have acted quite hesitantly upon you standing over the carved stone disc. This shouldn’t have been the case.” said Master Yagami.
“Then what should have been the case then?” asked Soril.
“They should have taken favor upon you and approached you upon their curiosity, but for some they remain hesitant. They remained distant as if to take in caution.” said Master.
“I can feel some sort of emotion other than joy in their expressions. Strange…it is incredibly strange.” said Felis as she took extra caution towards the strange change within the fairy’s reaction.
“What did you do boy!?” asked one of the clan members as they spoke out of turn.
“…Silence. Do not panic in front of the fairies…this will only cause a chaos in the room.” said Master Yagami as he took action before the others started to pile on blame towards Soril.
“To those who cannot maintain their emotions…leave the room. I will not tolerate your idiocy in such a sacred space.” added master Yagami as a threat.
““….”” with that, the member’s emotions died down. What only remained was Soril’s gaze towards the sight of the glowing lights.
“…he continued to observe the light…waiting for something to happen.
And to his patience, a response was made.
{…Ohhh~~ look! Look! The strange boy is standing over the disc!} said the innocent tone of a small voice within the distance above. That voice came upon the red fairy light.
{Doesn’t he look weird? It feels like he shouldn’t belong in this world.} said the pink fairy light.
{What do we do?! This boy is obviously here to greet us, we must do our best to greet him in return!} said the Yellow fairy light.
{But look! His spirit is soo mean looking. I’m sacred!} said the blue fairy light as he noticed the fiery passion of his spirit that resembled an aranean spirit’s core.
{Don’t be a scaredy cat!} said the purple green light.
{If you guys can’t do it, I will go instead! Your being rude to our guest today.” said the red fairy light.
But as soon as the fairy took a single flap of his wings closer to Soril, his body quickly stopped.
{Hmm? What’s wrong?} asked the pink fairy light.
{I can’t.}
{What?}
{I can’t take a step forward.} said the red fairy light.
{Hmm…I know what you mean.} said the gray fairy light as it appeared next to the red fairy.
{What does it mean brother?} asked the purple fairy light.
{It simply means that we are not brave enough. We must call upon the audience of our queen! Only she can bestow upon our guest the greatest greeting ever!} said the Gray fairy light who acted as the sole leader of the fairies.
{Ehh!!}
{Are you sure about this?!}
{We might be going too far by insisting on having the queen with us!}
The fairies panicked upon the suggestion of their leader…
But soon enough, the leader stood up again to vanquish their exaggerations.
{What do you think is more dishonorable, to not greet our guest properly or to disturb our queen’s time?!} he said exaggeratedly
‘Obviously its more dishonorable to not greet our guest!’ they all thought…
So without hesitation, the fairies focused all their efforts upon calling for their queen…the one and only fairy queen of this world.
Fairies were sought out to be pure and innocent…even to the house of shadow’s clan members, they were seen as the significant light of purity…but in truth. The fairies were nothing but children out to take care of their queen and the mother tree to which they were born from.
Some were stupider than the other…but as children, their instinct to trust a good person is higher than anything else alive in the world of Atlanta.
So it wasn’t entirely wrong to assume that fairies were pure in a sense…they were simply considerate and kind like that of a pure behaved child.
So to them, having the consideration to greet a guest is a more higher priority than to consider their queen’s time.
So to the custom of their child-like wonder, they didn’t hesitate to call upon their queen.
And like that…the fairies started to sing.
And to the notice of everyone inside the room, they too felt the room change in a delicate manner.
‘This feeling…is this what I think it is?!’ thought master Yagami as he recognized this energy.
The fairies sang with all their hearts…like that of a children filled with joy and hope, the fairies were very much a joy to watch upon. Everyone was dazzled by the song and the light showered upon them.
And as the light got brighter and brighter, the feeling around them started to get lighter and lighter.
Until finally the finally chorus of their choir ended…and the entire room was enveloped with a blast of light…
Before they knew what happened, out before Soril…he witnessed the grace of a young woman who was combing her hair as she sat at the roots of the mother tree.
She was like a flower dressed to be the attention…a season that covered the peace of autumn and spring…
She was like a season of calm…
A drop of dew from the sweetest flower…
She was a queen that showed beauty that reflected the purity of that of a child’s wonder…
The face of an innocent and the gaze of the curious wonders…
{Hmm? Oh my…} and to her notice, she too saw Soril standing before her with a surprised expression.
Upon her noticing, she quickly was curious about this sudden call…
And to what took her curiosity even more was the spirit that lingered inside the boy before her.
{Is that a warrior’s spirit? Why does it feel ever so familiar to me?} she asked herself.
