For I Am A Side Character - 62: A Decisive Choice for an Indecisive Future
The concert went on as it should.
Jason and Alfred Grayson encountered a strong enemy, they fought him as the concert was live and with it, they were able to gain some kind of recognition from the Idol group they were guarding…yet in the end, that wasn’t the most important thing right now…
I’m left in a dilemma…
Staring at the glass shard on my hand gifted by Gypsy, I could see something from its insides…
It was Information. Information of a hidden dungeon that seems to contain a grand skill.
“…” I’ve had this shard on my storage for the past couple of days now…a week has passed and now, I finally decided to do something about it.
As I sat in a lotus position in the center of a dark place under the well of the Dojo. I was in a state of keeping my head clear and my senses in peak condition. Using the dark element that I was compatible with, I was able to put a orb-like form visible only to my eyes…with it, it enhanced everything in the dark…
Even with the water touching my legs, I could feel everything not just the water but everything at a certain radius…
“Can you feel it Soril?” asked my master as he stood on top of a log placed on the waters of the well.
“…Yeah…I feel your presence.” even with my master who was a man capable of erasing his presence at will, I could feel my master behind me breathing.
“Good…you’re at a stage where even if you close your eyes, you can feel my presence even without a tinge of bloodlust or any form intent at all because of the dark element. Using it as a medium, you have enhanced your senses to a point where even when you sleep, you can easily detect your enemies at a certain distance. Right now, I’m standing 2 meters away from you, so this is your current reach of your domain.” said Master.
As he took a step back, I lost his presence all together.
“..?”
“Calm yourself, I only took a step back…now, we proceed with the next process of this training. It is a matter of pure self defense with no help from any form of weapon but your body. The moment I will take a step forward, you must react in an enlightened form…do not fumble, nor be in shock of my presence no matter how frightening it may be.”
“Yes master…”
“Good.”
As Master Yagami readied himself by positioning his hands in combat, he took his step…and the moment he did, I felt an immense pressure of fear and killing intent that would make anyone faint, but I steadied my heart…and I reacted.
*Thud!*
I blocked my masters fist from behind…feeling confident, I smiled.
“Hmm, good for your first try…but not good enough.” as he said this, I opened my eyes and found that fifteen shadow hands were found targeting every inch of the vital parts of my body.
“!?” I was shocked to find that I didn’t notice it.
“…Do you know how I did it?” he asked.
“Umm…you tricked my mind by focusing all of my attention into your main intent which was your real hand…while you followed it by with a few other attacks that didn’t have a single tinge of intent.” I said as I tried to logically think through his attack.
“Indeed, you must prepare yourself from anything. Not just from one attack but all of those that comes at any direction. Sometimes in this line of work, its not just one enemy that comes by you…they go in groups, so to counter it all, you must master this form of defense.”
“I understand master.”
“I will call Cecil and have him do the same process of this training to you and you must master this up to a point where you can defend against fifteen attacks at a time. Do this and you will finally complete the Enlightened Domain of the Dark.” said Master Yagami.
As I nodded, master left and I was on my own, thinking in this wet underground.
“…I only have a week left. I need to move fast.” as I said this, Cecil arrived and we began our training.
As we continued on without even a blink of rest, the sun came by faster than I could have imagined yet I was lucky today since it was Sunday. I had the free time for myself today.

After the training, Soril went on his way to the spa to rest his body from all of the stress he accumulated.
As he rested, Cecil made his way to Master Yagami where he was starting to prepare breakfast.
“So, how far did you guys go?” asked Master Yagami who was roasting some fish.
“Well…right now, he can only block three attacks at a time using the domain.”
“Good, he’s adapting well.” said the master.
“Well…yeah, but for some reason, he seems kind of dazed…he’s mind is somewhere else.” said Cecil as he started washing the rice.
“…it must be a personal matter.” said Master Yagami as he fanned the roasting fish.
“Hmm, well…its not like its anything bad right? We know that he’s not as psychotic as the rest of the students of the house.”
“You saw it for yourself didn’t you?” said Master as he remembered about a week back on Soril’s first mission.
“Yeah, he’s good.” said Cecil as he remembered a tinge of humanity in Soril’s eyes when he murdered the doctor.
“Hmm, either way…things are moving right for him. So for now, we should let him be.” said Master Yagami as he flipped the roasting fish.
“Right.”
As Cecil called to Soril for breakfast, and when they had breakfast together, Master Yagami initiated a conversation.
“Soril, do you have any plans for today?” asked Yagami.
“Yeah…I do. I intend to go and hunt a dungeon today and increase my level.” said Soril.
“Hmm, I see…”
“Why? Is there another mission I’m assigned to do today?” asked Soril.
“Not really…I was just curious about your plans.” said his master as he tries to learn about his student.
“If your planning to go to a dungeon today, try implementing the Enlightened Domain into your fight so that you can experience it first hand how efficient it is on battle. At the least, try fighting with just your bare hands.” said Cecil as he tried suggesting something to his brother.
“Hmm I will. Thanks.” said Soril.
As they finished eating, Soril went on his way and left the school in a rather uptight mood.
“Hmm, something is wrong with him today.” said his master.
“Should I follow him?” asked Cecil.
“No, like I said. It must be a personal matter.” said Master Yagami as he sipped on his after breakfast green tea.

As I went on my way to find the hidden dungeon using the glass shard on my hand, I realized that the dungeon was nowhere near a place where a train would usually past by.
“…Damn, its far in the mountains.” I said as I looked at the map given by the shard’s information.
Calculating the fastest possible way, I came to the conclusion that to save time, I would either jump off a plane and skydive straight to the dungeon or buy a motorbike specifically for terrain.
The choice that leaned on my interests more was the choice to buy a motorbike…
‘My god…is this even worth it?’ I thought as I stared at a display of a motorbike named the FX-Roder: All Terrain…
Seeing the price, I was very tempted to buy knowing just how much I got saved up.
But I hesitated…
Thinking of the pros of buying a motorbike..a lot of things can come to mind.
One for example is the access to quickly make way to the dojo without relying on a taxi fare or going to school everyday, I don’t need to rely on the train station…
Thinking about, I think its quite the investment.
So I bought it.
The process of buying the motorbike only costed me about one hour of my time for the day, and apart from the price everything seemed in order. I didn’t need a drivers license since the company who handled the process gives special treatments to hunters. Mainly because this motorbike was advertised to hunters who usually go solo hunting.
Without anything else to worry about, I made my way to the hidden dungeon.
Wearing a black helmet and a black leather jacket, I passed through so many of the traffic, I could feel the speed of this motor to be incomparable to any other motor on the streets.
This wasn’t first time driving a motor…
Usually in my past life, I had an interest in owning a motor since I lived on my own. I didn’t have any family other than my father and my mother, so with that said, I owned a more cheaper motor in me past life. Compared to my past motor, this was three times stronger and faster.
Now, where I’m going to was way past the region of the Diamond Reef City…it was deep in the mountains somewhere south where it was owned by another region that was mostly filled with villages far apart from one another.
This region of the continent was called the ‘Tail-Back Dorm’ a place that consisted of over 100+ villages scattered throughout a very thick forest. The main village was called the ‘Tombuck Tooth’ Town consisting of very large nunber highly trained hunters who acts as the main site stand of the region. Here in this town, about a 100,000 people are situated where 10% of it consist of hunters.
And about somewhere far from this town was the dungeon.
I don’t really have time to visit the town so I simply made my way to the dungeon.
It took about three hours just to drive from the Diamond Reef City to the dungeon…it was that far seeing as how I drove at a speed of about 100km/h.
Now as I was nearing the dungeon, with the glass shard on hand, it started glowing the closer I got to the dungeon.
It was sign that I was going on the right path.
And when I finally got here…all I came to an end was the scene of a big hole on the ground that went deep to a point where I could not see the bottom.
As I pulled out a rock the size of my head from the ground, I dropped it straight down to see how deep it was.
As I tossed it, there was no sound made until the tenth second…
“Geez…that’s about a half kilometer drop.” I said as I did the calculations on my head.
Knowing how deep it was…I readied myself.
Just like the last time I feel straight into the hole, the only thing I can rely on was my shield.
So I jumped.
As I fell, I quickly brought out my shield and activated my Enlightened domain to feel the floor on the moment I was nearing the ground I couldn’t rely on my count for the rock since I was more heavier…so as I started falling, I simply relied on all of my instincts I gained from training at the dojo.
‘come on…use the dark element…feel the ground and once you do, counter….counter….’
Falling with the strong winds going against my face, I felt the thrill of it all.
2 seconds passed..
4 seconds passed…
6 seconds…
8 seconds…
And on the 9th second, my domain quickly felt the ground …and in return, I instinctively activated my ability.
[Heavy Shield Counter!]
The moment I was about to crash straight into the ground, I was able to parry the very force of my fall and with it, I rolled safely to the ground
*Thud!*
Having to quickly stand up, I dusted myself off of the dirt.
‘God its dark in here…’ I thought as I couldn’t see a thing.
Seeing this, I brought out a magic lamp from my backpack that I put inside my spacebag.
With the weeks I hesitated on going into this dungeon, if I ever did decided on coming here, I would need everything I can to survive…during the week where I was indecisive, I made sure to pack all the essentials.
So with that said I brought every necessary item on a backpack I put into my mystical spacebag.
With the lamp shining my path, I was surprised to see that what stood before me was a door.
‘.…?” and as I stood in awe of it, the glass shard on my hand started to glow to a point that it was starting to irritate me. As it flashed with red colors in a systematic order, it continued to glow for about ten seconds until it finally stopped glowing with the last light being the color yellow.
With it, it soon shattered into a dust-like particles, blowing away from my hand.
“…So this must be the place after all.” I said as I took a grand look at the entrance before me.
