For I Am A Side Character - 41: Into the Dungeon's Core
Up in the surface, the battles still continues…
And the casualties over just two hours of war were…
14,067 destroyed Golems
39, injured students…
34 Defending teacher…
165 defending, high leveled students…
465 recently called reinforcements [ high leveled hunters]
And one mad mage who struggles to keep it all together.
“Damn it…damn it all!!” he screamed as he still continues to try and push back Professor Morrison.
But even with his efforts, even with his suspiciously unending supply of mana, the man who had the higher skill simply stood over in ease.
‘…I’m sure his mana is nearly drained in half…if I can still move…if I can continue to fight, everything will soon go my way…but…’
Soon he turns his eyes to the hole.
‘…a pair of rats had already infiltrated the dungeon…the key…its hidden…as long as its hidden, I am safe…’
‘but something is wrong…I feel something is entirely wrong…’
The mad mage, with his uncertain acts, his growing anxiety and his uncontrolled temper, one could see that he was losing the battle.
“Haa!!” as he throws a wave of avalanche straight at the professor, in reply, the professor simply waved his hand and burned the ever growing wave of dirt.
“Tsk…I’m sure your getting weaker and weaker by the minute, Morrison. Give up and I’ll spare your pitiful life.” he said as he then covers his body in an armor of solid hard rock.
“Say’s the man whose losing his cool.” in this simply contort, the Professor fired an array of Fire Spears at the Mad mage and simply covered his entire body in flames.
“Haaa!? ” but none reached his body…for what seemed like a dead man, instead of finding him pierced, all of those spears fell to the floor was simply burned into thin air.
“I don’t know what makes you soooo great, but I know for a fact that you die just like any idiot would.” said the mage.
And in his contort, he swore upon himself that this last skill would do the job…
“Be crushed.”
[Gravity’s Call: Max Oppression!]
And in the action of his call, all of a sudden, the gravity within his range suddenly rises…each golem that came by to pass, was crushed in an instant, students who were in range, felt their bones tweak and bend so much so, that they all fell to the floor all in an instant…but the professor, the person who was closest to him simply stood with a calm gaze.
but it never affected the professor.
Then in retaliation to this skill, he raised his hand and he stared at the mad mage with a smirk on his face…
“A true Gravity skill is one that is brought out by the sun…The sun, you simpleton.” and in his call, almost immediately as he brought out a pair of fresh breaths into the air, he brought out a sun in his hand.
A miniature sun.
“So let end this already.” added the professor.
[Sun God’s Tear: Planet void]
And as he lets go of the sun in his hand, the entire range within his call was crushed like a press…the mad mage felt the power within that sun, it pulled him in…it pulled him in with the intention to burn.
“Ghk!” as he tried to struggle to stay away, he felt his body suddenly turn to fear…but all of a sudden, as he struggled in place,a call was made into his head…a call for help.
‘Help me…’
A feminine wale…
A plea straight to the mage’s head.
‘The Queen!!?’
And in an instant, his body started to turn into moss…slowly but surely, the moss of his body burned as it got closer into the sun…
All to a point that it seemed like in just a second, his entire body was pulled into a sun and burned like no other.
From the professor’s perspective, it seemed like he had won, the mage’s body was no longer in sight…yet the golems continued to fight.
“Hmm, I don’t feel his presence anymore…so does this mean that the mage wasn’t in control of the golems?” he thought as he turned to the Hole and saw that one after another, the Golems were popping out like pest.
From this fight…from how it should have went, the story would have moved on with the fact that the mage would have survived the sun’s attack, showing that his body was no longer flesh but that of a moss-like texture, and in this discovery, he would have taken down the professor seeing as how it took the professor all of his mana to produce that sun attack…he got weaker.
Even at that moment, the professor was seemingly looking tired…but he could still take on the golems. It should been, that at this point, he would call for help and in action, Jason, Jessabelle and Miss Fien would have come in the act to protect the professor and fight the moss-like mage.
But the mage was no longer on the surface…it would have seemed that his body was no longer in sight…
To the professor’s perspective, he had won…but that wasn’t the case…that wasn’t the case at all…
***
A few minutes back, right as the fight between the mage and the professor was still on-going, deep underground, the scene of three rushing hunters could be seen taking out the Ghoul warriors one by one in a streak of fury.
“We have to hurry! Where did you say that this key was placed?” asked the sergeant as he took down 3 ghouls in an instant.
“.…” and in reply, Soril went and dashed in forward, seemingly like he was leading the direction of their pace.
[Heavy Slash!]
In an instant, he was able to take down three other ghouls and take one of their shields in replacement to the shield that he lost when the sergeant attacked him. And as they did, by the distance, archers were seen firing arrows straight at their direction.
*Swish~~!*
*Swish~~!*
*Swish~~!*
*Swish~~!*
*Swish~~!*
*Swish~~!*
As quick as Soril could, he blocked those arrows.
[Heavy Block Stance.]
And in reaction, Audrey went and hid behind Soril’s back to hide from the arrows.
*Thud!*
*Thud!*
*Thud!*
*Thud!*
As those arrows struck down, it gave Audrey the chance to attack.
[Flash te Flash: Charging Cut]
With a flash of light gathered at her sword, she swung it down to the Archer Ghouls and instantly took down one of them, while the others were taken down by the sergeant with his spear.
Having to replicate three spears out of thin air, the sergeant threw it at the speed of a bullet and instantly took down each archer ghoul straight at their heads. By the time the spears were willfully returned under the sergeant’s command, the archer Ghoul’s were left with no head.
As the three continued to fight, all of a sudden, a vibration surrounding the locked dungeon was suddenly made and its strength was strong enough to put off everyone from their footing. They all fell instantly, and to this, a screech was heard out from a distance. A screech that sounded like it came from a high-pitched echo.
*SCRRRRREEEEECCCHHH!!!~~*
And to the loudness of such sound, Soril and Audrey instinctively covered their ears.
“What is this?” asked the sergeant as he tried to look around to search for the culpirt of such a sound.
“…T-this is probably coming from the dungeon boss!” Soril as he then picks himself back up and tried to pace himself more into the direction of the sound.
The unending screech, although it affected the three of the hunters, it never came to affect the other monsters. They seemed unfazed by the sound.
So in action, the monsters came and attacked them with the chance that they got.
They chased them.
“The monsters, their chasing us.” said Audrey as she looked back.
And by her notice, another group of monsters came and joined the ghouls. Those monsters were the working ants.
‘Shit!’ not only were they chasing them from the back, but some were also coming in from the front.
With the tunnel of the core of the locked dungeon being not as big as the tunnels outside the core, it easily became crowded.
So in retaliation to the monsters, Soril puts up his shield and tries to push through them with the sense that it might work.
[Heavy Rush!]
And as he burst through 7 working ants, Audrey and Sergeant O’riley followed him quick through the path that he made.
“Ghk!” gunks of flesh and blood from these ants covered their uniforms immediately.
As he finished using this skill forward, where even when they pass through the monsters at the front, the monsters at the back never ceased to let them go. he then proceeded to also use an attack that would presumably slowdown those who were chasing them behind.
[Mana Spear!]
Little spears made with no sense of effort were thrown at the back. There was no time to aim, so he only made it rain with a bundle of his mana spears down at the back, and by a miraculous yet stupendous success, the monsters felt the pain of his showering mana spears.
In an effort to try to escape the rampaging monsters, the moment his mana was about to be depleted, by the sheer luck of his efforts, he gained another level. Giving him the chance to regain his strength and his mana as well.
Soon enough, the monsters stopped chasing them and the screeching noise also ended. As it did, it gave the three of them a time to catch their breaths.
“Haa…haa…how long before we find the key?” asked the Sergeant as he was as tired as the two.
“…We’re close.” said Soril as he then looks around the tunnel of the core and he points to the side of a wall.
“…what is it?” asked Aundrey.
“…I think we should split it from here. I’ll go get the key…while you two deal with the dungeon boss.” said Soril as he then stretches his back to prepare himself.
“What?” asked Audrey in shock.
“…its save us time that way, because before I could even reach the shrine in this dungeon and use the key, the boss will be a problem. Trust me.” said Soril as he looks to his teacher with the hope that he agrees.
“Hmm…Okay. Where can we find the dungeon boss?” asked the Sergeant as he looks to his student with a calm gaze.
“Wait…should we really do this?” asked Audrey.
“You should. The sooner we deal with the dungeon, I’m sure the sooner it would end for the Golems marching up in the surface.” said Soril.
“B-but…” seeing as how Audrey seemed a but hesitant, Soril knew there was still doubt within Audrey.
So there was only one thing that he could do to make sure that she hopefully accepts. To show his identity.
“Miss Audrey, I’m sure you doubt him, but trust me who trust this boy…he can be trusted.” said the Sergeant as he vouches for Soril.
“…I…I understand.”
“!?” and in shock, before Soril could even show his face to Audrey, the one thing that marks the doubt within her and him, he had a sigh of relief as he was able to hide his identity.
“…Good.” so with that said, Soril instructed the two of where the Dungeon Boss was. As he told them, he then went to where the key was supposedly hidden. And made no efforts to slow down.
Pacing himself down deeper into the core of the lokced dungeon, he came upon a large door.
The only door found within this underground tunnel of roads.
“…This should be it.” he said as he then slowly opens the door.
As he did, he came and found that behind the door, a laboratory was found. Filled with cobwebs and rats all over the place, he knew that this place was the room that the mad mage engrossed himself in, in his own research.
As he looked around, he finally came upon a piece of artifact that showed the very work that costed the mage is entire life…
“…its just like the book said. This was supposed to be the place where he nearly made the perfect warrior. The immortal knight that doesn’t run on blood or soul…just the mind of a past hero and the energy of what’s typically found on air…mana.”
For what stood in front of him was the sight of a rusting empty armor filled and attached with pipes and wires that doesn’t seem to supply any form of energy of some kind.
“Hmm, the book said that the mage failed…but from the looks of it, this thing seems like its almost done.” he said as he saw the armor in a its seemingly tender condition.
But soon enough, he turns back to his focus which was the key for the locked dungeon.
He didn’t look for it in some crevice or some hidden bookshelf, instead, he kept his eye on the armor and reached inside. There, he went to the place where the crotch armor was placed and in it, he felt the key.
Without hesitation, he pulled it out as fast as he could and in result, the entire armor was pulled away from its pipes and wires, and its pieces were thrown to the ground, where what was left was the key on Soril’s hand.
“Okay…Whoa, this thing looks like it could go for a pretty penny.” he said as he saw the key on his hand.
The key was seemingly different from what any kind of key a man would think of. For the key on his hand was no ordinary key.
It wasn’t shaped like a brass key of sorts, but instead, it was shaped like a piece of a puzzle that seemed geometrically impressive. Its like having to pull apart some pieces of a rubix cube and what was left was the thing on his hand. But with added features like it was a glowing stone diamond, and along with it was the weird beating sensation of a heart. It felt like the key was alive.
“Hmm…strange.” but as he finally got the key on his hand, he made his way to the exit.
But as he puts the key in his pocket, all of a sudden, he heard the clinking sound of metal crashing against one another.
“??” as he turned to where this sound was coming from, from his back, he saw that the metal armor was suddenly put together back again in one piece.
“…Give me back my c*ck.” said the armor.
“…What?” and in question of his entire life, Soril stood their shooked by the site of a living armor, talking about its d*ck.
“GIVE ME BACK MY C*CK!!” Shouted the armor as it then pulls out a sword from the floor.
And in an instant, the warrior swung his sword and Soril was thrown out of the lab and straight to another wall.
*BooM!*
“*Cough*…*Cough*.…W-Wow.” coughing up from the dust all over the palce, Soril was left shoocked by the sight of a living armor talking about its c*ck.
