For I Am A Side Character - 33: Sasha Questions
How was it possible that Jessabelle Morrison, a genius and a prodigy that was born under the guidance of one of the greatest mages in Atlanta, lost against a boy that was barely known at all. He had no reputation other than the fact that he was placed the 10th ranked student of the first year batch and against Jessabelle who was the 2nd rank, it seemed like it was more of a rumor than fact…but to the people who saw what ended in yesterday’s fight, it was a truth that could not be denied.
If one were to look at it based off of their reputation and history, she would have won without a doubt…but seeing her lost, they had to reevaluate the winner’s complete reputation.
Who was he?
How was it possible that he won?
Is his talent more than that of the “Jessabelle Morrison?”
But through these assumptions and thoughts, one could never fully gain an answer…not unless it came from the words of the two who fought each other themselves.
After the fight ended yesterday, the curiosity within the crowd only grew minute by minute…they wanted answers.
Finally among those people, a certain club member came with the desire to learn the truth, to have a personal interview with the two students who were put in the medical room.
Introducing the very perceptive News Club member, Sasha Truth.
She was known as a very curious and persistent 1st year member of the news club. With her signature look of a braided-orange hair, blue eyes and a tight hour-glass body figure, paired with a very distinctive freckled bubble face, she brought with herself a pen and notebook wherever she went in her travels to find the latest snoop.
After the fight that ended yesterday, Sasha Truth, being one of the many people who witnessed this battle felt a instinctive need to interview the people in question.
So the moment she had a chance to take questions and gain answers, she sneaked into the medical room like sneaky snooping rat that she was.
With her class as a ranger in one of the many occupations of being a hunter, she easily made way across the many securities put into the room.
In this case, she crawled in the very vents that were installed to ventilate the air in the room. Easily enough, she was sly and quiet, because this wasn’t her first time doing something as sketchy as this. In her hobby as a investigative new’s member, she had scooped up some very hot secrets found throughout city and the academy. Thangs that normally would put some people under.
The moment she landed in like an acrobat, she quickly made her way to the area where Soril Remus and Jessabelle Morrison were found resting.
Being put in separate areas where Jessabelle was put in a private medical room and Soril was put in a more open place, the two were still found asleep.
“Hmm, maybe I got here a little bit early than I could have expected…” she said to herself as she looked at the injured faces of the two.
“…but, this is a perfect chance to their picture…I could use this as a chance to title the front page, [The Aftermath of Battle between a Prodigy and the Winner.]”
As she said this, she then pulled out her camera and started taking tens of dozens of shots of them sleeping in their beds.
But as she did, she suddenly heard the door open in the medical room. To it, she quickly hid herself in one of the many available beds by hiding behind the curtains.
The person that came into the room was none other than Jessica Young…the friend of Soril Remus.
‘Hmm, Its her…the girl that ran up to him when the battle ended. To think that she actually got access to this place. Jessica Young, the only daughter of a very known Merchant Company in the city, she was the only person out of her entire family to take on the occupation of being a hunter while her brothers remained being merchants to grow the family business…what’s their relationship for her to go this far for someone like him? I’ve never even heard of her being friends with any boys back on her middle school years, only girls since she went to an all-girls middle school…but ever since she got into the academy, the only person she was quite close with was him…are they lovers? No…its still early to assume something like that.’ thought Sasha as she tried her best to observe Jessica behind the curtain.
As Jessica stood by his side, she brought with her a few items to tend to Soril in his rest. He hasn’t yet woken up since the time he fainted after the battle. The doctor said that he was in fine condition and that he would soon wake up, but a whole night has passed and he still hasn’t woken up yet, so in this moment, she was very concerned.
“Soril…Class is about to start soon…and a lot of our classmates are wondering when you would wake up. They have been very curious on how you were even able to beat someone like her…it even got the attention of a few teachers as well.” in her soft voice, leaned in close and she wiped off the dirt from his face…ever so careful, she caressed his face and to it, she blushed a little bit in front of his sleeping self.
“I guess you really are getting stronger…I don’t think I can catch up to you…and I know that I never could. It hurts to think that your moving on ahead of me and I’m going to be left behind…it hurts…it really does.” in her words, tears were starting to gather on her eyes, as if she wanted to cry any moment.
Knowing her own weakness and the truth behind her own potential, she knew that she could never catch up to Soril if he fought with all that he had. They were simply that different…
“But…but I won’t give up. I’ll fight…and I’ll be strong…so that one day, when you look ahead in front of your achievements, I’ll be there with you. I won’t be a burden…so please, don’t throw me away.”
As she said those words, little by little, tears began to fall.
And as she cried, she felt a hand reach over her head and patted her in the softest manner.
“!?” she was surprised, and as she turned to Soril, she saw that he was awake…
“…”
“…”
Staring at one another, Jessica instinctively came and embraced him for waking up.
“!!” being shocked by this, Soril embraced the pain and simply had Jessica embrace him as tight as she could.
“…Hmm, I’m really hurt you know.” she said.
“Hmph~~” in that statement, she only ever embraced him even harder.
‘Hmm, maybe they are lovers…’ thought Sasha as she saw a then slowly raised her camera.
*Click!*
The moment she shot a picture of the two of them embracing each other, all of a sudden, a small weak mana spear came flying out of Soril’s direction and into the curtain that she was hiding in.
*Swish~!*
*Thuck!*
“!?’ to Sasha’s slowly reaction, she was nearly struck by a mana spear, but it missed only by a couple of inches away from her head.
“…I know you’re there. Come out and I might just let you go clean.” said Soril, as he slowly sits up and excused Jessica out of his way.
“…Geh-” in her only response, she acted on his demand and slowly waled out of the curtain.
“!?” To Jessica’s shock, she recognized who this person was.
“Sasha Truth?” she asked.
“You know her?” asked Soril.
“Yeah…She’s one of the members of the highly infamous News club. I meet her when she went and tried to interview me on what club I might join in this academy. By the way, if your curious, I joined the Dungeon Michelin Club.”
“…The Dungeon Michelin Club?” asked Soril.
“Its the kind of club that lets students try different kinds of delicacies found in the dungeons. I joined in because I was interested in cooking.” explained Jessica.
“Okay…What’s your deal? Why did you come here?” asked Soril as he turned to Sasha with a rather angry glare.
“…Ah, hahahaha…You know what…This is just a misunderstanding, how about I just leave the two of you alone and let you continue on your cuddling, I was disturbing a really important moment there.” she said as she slowly makes way to the exit.
“Eh!!? You saw!?” shouted Jessica in a blushed manner.
“She was carrying a camera, of course she saw.” said Soril.
“Ehhhh…..” in Jessica’s rather awkward reaction, she was quite embarrassed by what she had just done.
“You’re not leaving by the way.” said Soril as he casted another Mana spear in front of Sasha.
“…Right…okay.” in Sasha’s surrender, she simply stood in place with her arms raised up in the air.
“So tell me, what were you doing here?” asked Soril.
“Well…I’m a part of the News club, we take in the news and spread it academy wide. so naturally, I did what I had to do to get some juicy news…and you were just one of the people that caught my eyes. In other words, I was just curious about one thing.” she said.
“And what’s that?” asked Soril.
“…How did you beat someone like Jessica Morrison?” asked Sasha.
“Hmm, I think you’ll get a better answer from the person who actually lost, the only answer I can give you is that I exploited her weakness.”
“…Her weakness? Jessabelle Morrison had a weakness?” asked Sasha.
“I guess you can say that. I don’t know if Jessabelle agrees with my words, but her weakness comes from the fact that she was slower than me and weaker than me in terms of a physical aspect.”
“…I don’t get it? She probably had the ability to reinforce her body with mana? Why would her physicality be an issue?”
“That’s the thing. A pure trained body always overwhelms something as bland as a temporary boost like mana reinforcement. She was a mage true to her heart, her body, even with the pure reinforcement of mana, could not fully comprehend the effects of it. She was still physically weaker even with the reinforced mana.I overwhelmed her with that aspect. If someone like Conner or Jason were to use reinforced mana skill, they could easily overthrow Jessabelle as I did.
“…But like you said, she was a mage…and an experienced one at that. How could she still lose to you?”
“Hmm, I think it also mostly comes down to the fact that she probably didn’t come prepared well enough to face me. I knew everything about her skills since she’s pretty well known, she on the other hand, did not know everything about me.”
“Was there something about you that we don’t know?” asked Jessica.
“No, not really…but like I said, I know her well enough to see what she would do. With that said, information can easily overturn a battle, especially a war.”
“…I see. Thank you for your statement, I will now get out of your way…” having taken Soril statement on the matter, she started to make her way out of the room.
“Don’t forget to delete that picture you just took, if you don’t, I know just who took look for in the end of the day.” said Soril as he glares down on her.
“O-okay.” said Sasha as she then nervously walked out of the room.
With that threat said, Sasha ever so hurriedly.
“…So, you like cooking?” asked Soril.
“Yeah, I started when I had lunch inside a dungeon for the first time. I ate a kind of meat that so disgusting, I was kind of intrigued to figure out which other meats were bad…and good. Do you wanna try one?” she asked.
“…I’m kind of concerned on the fact of your motivation…but sure, why not.”
“Great, tomorrow, I’ll be packing our lunch together. We can eat on the rooftop of the academy. I heard there’s a lot of space there from a friend of mine. Not a lot of people go there since it locked all the time by the teachers, but luckily for you, I know a trick on how to open the door.”
“Great.”
“Wait…you are healed enough to go to class tomorrow, right?” she asked.
“I guess I am…Its just a few minor burns in the body.”
“Right…I heard from the doctor that you were really hurt. They said that it was mostly because of the fact that you used a spell that your body and mind couldn’t handle…what was that spell you used?” she asked.
“I don’t know…it just came to me at the moment. But I think it was about merging a few mana spears together…”
“Huh…if its just that, how could it have possibility put you in this state?” asked Jessica.
“I…don’t know. Either way, I’m sure by tonight I can easily go back home now.” he said.
“…right.” as Jessica looked rather down, Soril went and reached out to her.
“…I’m fine, you can go to class.”
“Okay.” with her reply, she left the room and Soril was left on his own.
On it, he then slightly blushes….remembering the fact that she hugged him just a few minutes ago.
“Boy…she really is a hugger.” he said bashfully.
