Chapter 6: My Older Brother Came for a Payback, but He’s Not Worth to Be My Opponent

“Oi!! Stupid young brother! How dare you kick my maid out?!”

While I was enjoying tea in my room with Luna, my older brother, Raiza Hanbulg, barged in while yelling at me. Her blond hair was slicked-back, he was breathing heavily from anger. 

It had been three days since I obtained the artifact and Raiza had come back earlier than I expected. He was fuming, naturally so, since his maid, Euclid, was expelled from the Hanbulg mansion.

However, I hadn’t just been dilly-dallying for the past three days. I had fully prepared myself for this encounter. Kukukuku… I couldn’t wait to teach this bastard a thing or two. 

“I really want to kill you right here and now, but I guess I will give you a chance to explain yourself in front of Father first.”

“Ike-sama…”

Lune looked at me with concern. 

“It’s fine. I’ll be back soon.”

“No-No. Can I come with you?”

“Huh? You want to come with me?”

Staring straight into my eyes, Luna spoke her intention loud and clear. 

“I.. I’m tired of just watching. I’m not sure if I can be helpful to you or not, but… Is it a ‘no’ after all?”

“No-Not a no! Yes! You can come! Absolutely!”

If anything were to happen, I would protect her anyway. At least, this kind of confidence from Luna was much better than how the original Luna acted in the game. 

“Oi, get your ass up.”

Raize must be plotting something, since he had a wide smirk on his face. He also didn’t try to stop Luna from following along. This must be part of whatever scheme he was hatching. 

“Alright.”

But still, I was surprised to see Raiza acting calmer than I expected. 

On our way to Father’s room, Luna grabbed onto my sleeve like a child. I held her hand back to reassure her. She then offered me a shy smile. Ah, she was just too adorable~

And so, I arrived at Father’s room together with Raiza. 

“Ooh! My beloved sons! What brought you guys here? Oh, Luna-dono too! How is it? Is everything comfortable for you?”

Father was in an unusually good mood. Seeing this, Raiza widened his eyes in surprise. Perhaps he had expected Luna to be mistreated here. 

“Fa-Father! Why did you dismiss my maid?! Couldn’t you at least consult with me first?!”

Raiza started, looking slightly flustered.

“Consult..? But Ike provided hard and solid evidence. Raiza, you do realize your maid has committed multiple crimes, right? You’re alright with your maid committing crime? Is that it? Hm?”

“Ugh-…! There must be some mistake! Oi, isn’t that right?!”

“I’m not sure what you’re talking about, but from what I see, Euclid was dismissed because her wrongdoings were proved to be true, right?”

“You damn brat! How dare you speak to your older brother like that?!”

“Raiza-niisama, we’re in front of Father, you know.”

“That’s right. Exactly what Ike said. Raiza, why don’t you try to calm yourself down?”

“Huh?”

Raiza couldn’t hide his agitation at Ike’s unexpected response.

Kukuku… The feeling of manipulating people to dance in the palm of my hand… It was more satisfying than I thought. Maybe I had a talent for being a villain. 

“Be-Besides! Why is the cursed Luna Olhein here in our mansion?! Father, didn’t you say Luna Olhein’s cursed power is filthy?!”

“She’s the fiancée that Ike chose. Do you have any problem with that? Besides, I never said anything about Luna-dono’s cursed power. This discussion is over.”

“Wha-?!”

Raiza’s eyes widened in surprise. It was clear to see he hadn’t expected Father to be on our side. Of course, I had prepared everything thoroughly, all for the sake of Luna’s happiness.

“I see! You must’ve deceived my younger brother—my family with that cursed power! Yes, that must be the case! You ugly glasses hag! I’ve heard the rumors! Even your family, the Olhein Ducal House, has erased your existence from their fami—Gah! What are you doing!”

I threw a handkerchief from my pocket at Raiza. I actually had intended to let Raiza dance in the palm, just like the villain I was. However, I decided against it. I needed to teach this guy a lesson or two. 

“Raiza-niisan, have a duel with me now. I will never forgive you for insulting my fiancée, Raiza-niisan.”

Good grief. I didn’t think Raiza could be this stupid. He dared to insult my beloved fiancée… I wouldn’t be satisfied until I made sure Raiza regretted his action, especially after he made Luna so sad like this.

Chapter 7: Duel With My Older Brother

“I don’t know what kind of power that shitty woman uses on you, but I will be sure to wake you up from her charm!”

We decided to hold our duel in Hanbulg’s family house training ground. I was already fully prepared for this duel. 

Oi, if you’re going to come, then come. 

“Shut up. I will kill you.”

“Ugh-…! I will shut that big mouth of yours in a jiffy!”

Raiza glared at me, trying to intimidate me. Unfortunately I wasn’t the least scared of him. 

“By-By the way, Father-in-law-sama, is it alright for the two of them to have a duel like this…?”

Luna asked Ganon. It was adorable how she referred to my father as father-in-law. How should I say it… Somehow, it really emphasized the fact that my favorite character had become my wife. 

“We will have to decide the next head of the Hanbulg family sooner or later anyway. The duel just happened to happen a bit sooner than planned, but Ike is smart. I’m sure he already have a plan in mind.”

“I see… I-I’m still worried. What if Ike-sama were to get hurt…”

I could hear Luna’s worried voice from where I was standing. Haaa~ To be honest, I was really happy. I was superrr happy! She was my main heroine after all. Ahh~ My love for her kept increasing to infinity!~

“Now then, let’s begin the duel… Oh, before that, any of you have something to say?”

Ganon asked me and Raiza. 

Something to say, huh… Oh. Right. 

“Father, if I win this match, could I be granted the position of the next lord?”

Since Raiza completely underestimated me, he shouldn’t say anything against me even if I were to make an unreasonable demand. 

“What about you Raiza? Will you accept that condition?”

“Sure. There’s no way Ike could defeat me anyway, so I don’t mind. However, in that case, I also have a condition. It wouldn’t be fair otherwise. My condition is, I want Ike and that shitty Luna woman to be evicted from this mansion after I win.”

See! Right on! Time to take advantage of his arrogance! I shall make this duel the stepping stone to me and Luna’s happy married life!

Luna declared passionately. I couldn’t quite hear the later part that she said, but she must be cheering for me anyway. Alright. Time to get this duel over and done with.

“Let the duel—!”

I activated the artifact and in front of me, the ever familiar selection screen of Fortune Lover could be seen. 

“—Begin!”

“Activate. Artifact—Staff of the Dragon Star!”

The artifact activated at the same time as the signal for the duel. The Staff of the Dragon Star deployed a colorful array of magic circles. 

“What’s that? Heh. My inferior brother must be relying on tools because he knows he can’t defeat me! Unfortunately, your tools won’t be able to help you win! Take this! Intermediate Magic—Crimson Ball!”

Crimson Ball was a magic skill that enlarged the beginner level Fireball to the size of a human head. It also increased the speed of the projectile. If it were the past Ike, he would’ve gotten seriously injured just from a single blow of Crimson Ball. However…

“Wha-?!”

“Do you really think you can defeat me with intermediate level magic?”

The shield that I deployed with the help of the artifact blocked all of Raiza’s attack easily. After that, it was my turn to attack. I deployed magic circles and locked onto Raiza as my target. 

“Wai-Wait a moment-!”

“Fire.”

“U-UWAHHHH!!”

Raiza fell on his butt clumsily, but that didn’t deter me from attacking him. Various spells released from the deployed magic circles and gouged out the space within 30 centimeters radius around Raiza. Right. I deliberately didn’t hit Raiza directly, only attacking the ground near him. The area surrounding Raiza was enveloped with a cloud of dust.

I was about to unleash another barrage of magic spells on Raiza again when…

“That’s enough! Ike is the winner.”

Father declared the outcome of the duel to interrupt us. The duel ended with my victory, but…

“Please wait! I’m not defeated yet!”

Father entered the arena and approached us.

“No, Raiza. This is your loss. Didn’t you see the power of the artifact that Ike wields? You need to acknowledge the difference in strength.”

“Shut up! Even if he’s relying on underhanded tools, I’m still superior!! I’m your older brother!! I’m better than you in any way!!”

Raiza suddenly launched his magic spell at me. However, his attack couldn’t even reach me thanks to the Staff of the Dragon Star. 

“Why… WHYYYYYYYYYY?!?!”

Raiza fell to his knees and shouted toward the sky.

“Raiza… I think it’s better if you cool your head first at the northern monastery.”

“Northern monastery?! But why? Isn’t that place an especially strict monastery at the foot of the Aines Mountains?!”

“Do you really need me to tell you why? Fine. I knew you were infatuated by Euclid, the maid. You failed to notice she had been embezzling the house’s funds under your very nose and not to mention, the countless illicit relationships she had with the servants of this house aside from you. Ike reported it to me, complete with evidence. We’ve already verified it too.”

“Tha-That’s…!”

“I know. Everyone makes mistakes when they’re young, but you! You’re just too foolish! Therefore, you better reflect at the northern monastery! Guards! Take Raiza away!”

“No-No!! I don’t want to!! Arghhh!!!”

Raiza was taken away by father’s close guards. He kept glaring at me until the very end, his eyes were full of hostility. He might try to seek revenge on me one day, but I knew that day wouldn’t come anytime soon. In the meantime, I planned on getting even stronger, not just by relying on artifacts. I shall utilize my knowledge of the original game to my own benefit. 

“And Ike…”

Father approached me.

“I never expected you already had an artifact in hand! This is my first time seeing it… Is this the artifact you mentioned before?”

“Not exactly. I never said there’s only one artifact, right? I’ve obtained another artifact for me and Luna’s sake.”

“What?! So you’re planning to collect other artifacts in secret too?!”

“Of course.”

“Wonderful! Ike! You’ve grown wonderfully! Kukuku… With this, we can fight back the royal family who have been looking down on us for so long! Ah, what a most delightful turn of events! That’s right! I almost forgot to mention… Ike! From now on, you will become the next future lord in place of Raiza!”

“Yes! Thank you, Father! I will fulfill my duty as the next head of the family!”

Indeed. He was a perfectly villainous father. He looked utterly wicked here. This must be what people refer to as ‘like father like son’. 

“Ike-sama… I believed in you.”

“Luna, sorry, did I make you worry?”

“No, it was just a needless concern after all.”

Luna adjusted her glasses and offered me a beaming smile. 

Thank goodness. I was able to protect Luna’s smile. Now that I had established my position in Hanbulg Ducal family, I had cleared the first stage to my happy married life with Luna.
