Chapter 63: A Date in the Royal Capital

“Ike-sama, have you been waiting long?”

Shortly after taking down the Demon Lord Worshipper’s base and shortly before the birth of the Black Dragon. We were at the entrance of the royal capital. I, Ike Hanbulg, was feeling nervous. Why? Because… My wife, my most favorite person in the world, Luna, was going to go on a date with me. 

“Not all. I didn’t wait, not even for a second…. Shall we go now?”

Just like always, Luna looked so adorable. Since we were going on a date, Luna was wearing a white dress. Her long silver hair was as fine as silk and through her glasses, her large eyes seemed to sparkle, bewitching my heart to the core. 

“Yes~ ♡”

Of course, her voice was as charming as ever. I could feel my eardrums trembling with joy thanks to her enchanting voice. Now, some people might be thinking,”She’s your wife, so why are you so nervous?” Let me tell you this.

The butterflies of love never truly go away. The ember of love never fades. That’s how charming Luna is. 

If I had to blame something, I’d say it was all due to Luna’s irresistible charm. They said every living creature had a set number of heartbeats in their lifetime. They said every being, regardless of its nature, had a limit of how many times their heart would beat and I was pretty sure I was shortening my own lifespan. Not that I’d mind giving up a few years for Luna’s sake though. I could die happy knowing I would spend the rest of my life with her.

Luna kept glancing over at me, seemingly nervous herself. She looked like she wanted to say something, but she was holding back for some reason. Good grief. She shouldn’t feel the need to hold back. Not with me. In fact, I’d be pleased to see her coming to me strongly.

“What’s the matter?”

I decided to ask her first. 

“U-Umm… It’s just… I-Ike-sama… Your hand… May I hold your hand?”

“Of course. You are more than welcome to hold my hand as much as you’d like.”

“Fufu… Thank you, Ike-sama.”

Luna said softly as she intertwined her slender fingers around my left hand. 

Whooooaaaaa!! So smoooothhh!! So soffttt!! And she smells so gooood!!

“Ike-sama… I knew it… I’m being a bit childish, right…?”

Luna murmured, looking a bit bashful. 

“No way. Not all. I don’t think so in the slightest. It’s normal for lovers like us to walk together while holding hands. If we don’t then this is not a date, but just a normal stroll. This. This is the essence of a date.”

I said, adding a bit of a flair to convince Luna. Good. With this, she shouldn’t realize just how wildly my heart was pounding.

“Ah, I knew it… Ike-sama is so kind.”

Blushing, Luna murmured shyly. Her embarrassed expression was priceless. I immediately took a screenshot of this scene and saved it in my brain for eternity. 

“Luna, is there somewhere you’d like to go first?”

“Yes, but… Are you sure you won’t get upset if I tell you…?”

“Of course not. We’re going on a date after all.”

At that, Luna gingerly opened her mouth. She looked like a child who was not used to making requests, like she had never indulged herself before. 

“I… I want to buy something from the food stall and eat it…”

“…Is that all?”

“Ah, I knew it… Is it improper for someone like me to do something like that?”

“Of course not. Even the residents of the royal capital also buy food from the stalls and eat it outside. Well, maybe not everyone, but it’s not improper or strange by any means.”

“Ike-sama…! Thank you very much!”

“Besides, today is a special day. It’s our date. I’m more than happy to go along with everything you want to do, Luna.”

We headed toward a nearby food stall. They were selling something that looked like hot dogs. It was basically a sausage nestled in bread with melted cheese drizzled on top of it. It definitely looked like junk food compared to the food we usually ate, but it looked delicious nonetheless. Fortunately, there wasn’t much of a crowd around. I managed to procure the hot dog easily and handed one to Luna. 

“Alright, how about if we go eat over there?”

Lune took the hot dog into her hand and her slender hand slipped from mine. Even though she was still standing by my side, but I couldn’t stop myself from feeling lonely. As Luna took a bite, her eyes practically lit up. 

“Wow… It’s so delicious!”

Seeing her happy was the best food I could indulge in this world. 

“Actually… Ever since I was little, I’ve been hoping to do this kind of thing.”

Luna started telling me her story. Her expression remained as joyful as before.

“I was raised as the daughter of a noble, so I never really had a chance to eat outside with someone like this… This experience is really enjoyable to me, Ike-sama.”

Then, Luna held her hot dog toward me and offered me some with a playful smile on her face. 

“Ike-sama, would you like to try some of mine?”

“Of course, I’d be delighted.”

I took a bite of her hot dog.

“Eek…!!”

“Mm. Delicious.”

Even though her hot dog was the same as mine, but hers somehow tasted better. 

“Ma-May I have a bite of yours as well?”

“Of course. Eat as much as you’d like.”

I held out my hot dog for Luna to bite as well. She took a bite and some of the cheese dripped onto the ground.

“Yours tastes better, Ike-sama.”

Luna said with a playful smile stretched on her face. At this moment, I knew that I would never forget the taste of this hot dog for the rest of my life.
