Chapter 58: Finish This Quickly So We Can Continue Our Lovey-Dovey Time

After Lycaon practically devoured the lump of flesh that was once Marwin, Lycaon’s body transformed into the same shade of crimson-black as Marwin. I had never seen anything like this in the original Fortune Lover storyline. 

“I see… I guess it’s time for me to get serious.”

Moreover, now that Lycaon had assimilated with Marwin, I couldn’t predict what was going to happen at all. This situation was progressing beyond my expectations. 

“But the fact still remains. He’s an enemy that I need to defeat.”

Lycaon grinned at me. 

“Let’s have fun.”

“-!!”

I cast the strongest defensive spell I could muster.

“Hyaaaahhh!!”

At first glance, it might seem like Lycaon was only trying to launch a simple physical attack, but due to the pure dark energy in his body, his attack power had increased significantly. 

“Tch..!!”

Deciding that staying in place to take the hit would be dangerous, I leaped backward to try to mitigate the impact of Lycaon’s attack.

“Physical Enhancement!”

I cast the most powerful physical enhancement spell I could. 

“Let’s play some more!! More!! More!!!”

Faraus followed up with an attack of its own. He extended his right hand at me and launched a series of dark magic attribute spell, Dark Reaper. Thanks to the overlapping buffs from the physical enhancement buff I casted and the All Enchant I had received from Luna, I somehow managed to evade all of their attacks. 

But then…

“U-UWAGHHHHHHH!!!”

Faraus took a stray shot from Lycaon’s Dark Reaper and part of his body disintegrated. But still, I didn’t have leeway to be worrying about him. As I evaded the enemy’s relentless attack, I seized every brief opening I could get after each strike to land precise physical blows. 

Even with continuous attacks—body blows, right high kicks, straight punches to the face, and knee strikes—all within a second, the counterattacks I executed didn’t seem to be having a significant effect on Lycaon. To be precise, my attack did some damage, but Lycaon’s changed body absorbed the attack. The attack surely affected his body, but maybe because Lycaon was high on adrenaline or some other reason, he showed no sign of slowing down. 

I kicked him and jumped back, creating a distance between us.

“Wind Cutter, Crimson Cannon, Ice Lance.”

After putting some distance between us, I cast magic circles of three elements to launch my attack. Lycaon’s face was covered in fresh blood as he screamed.

“Oi,oi,oi! Come on… Is that all you got?! It’s not enough!! Give me some more!!”

And while we were talking, Faraus was on the side. His body was covered in magic energy. It seemed he was trying to heal the damage on his body from Lycaon’s Dark Reaper.

“Don’t worry. I won’t go down that easily either, you know?”

If they had high defense, I just needed to keep attacking until I could break their defense. No defense was truly impregnable. Everything had its limit. If it was for Luna’s sake, I was willing to be as tenacious as possible. Alright. Time to do this!

“Wind Storm, Crimson Missile, Ice Blizzard, Meteor Impact.”

I unleashed more arrays of magic of various attributes. 

“Gu-Guhahahahaha!! Yessss!! Nice!! This is it! The feeling of my soul being shredded!!”

“I’m not done yet!!”

I cast over a thousand magic circles and launched them all. The same thing happened again. My attack hit Lycaon, but he wasn’t even the least fazed. I prepared another array of magic and drank a mana potion. I wasn’t running out of magic power yet, but it’d be better to be prepared. I had to prepare myself for a long fight. 

Alright. Since we’re already this far, might as well go all out.

“Holy Explosion!!”

A familiar voice came from behind me and an explosion of light engulfed Faraus.

“Ike-sama..!! I will fight alongside you!!”

Luna descended from the sky and landed beside me. She had angelic white wings on her back, just like when we fought the demonized Demon Lord Worshipper before. 

“Luna… Why are you here?”

She should still be at the royal castle with Alias. Despite the uncertainty of this battle, I was still worried about Luna’s safety.

“I… I’ve been wishing I could fight alongside you, Ike-sama and when I took on this form, I could sense that you were in trouble.”

“I see. I’m so glad I have you here.”

At the same time, I realized I still had a long way to go as a husband. I ended up making my wife worried about me. I needed to do better. But for now..

“Darn it!! It hurts!!! The heck?! Who the heck are you?! How dare you interrupt my wonderful dance with Ike?!”

Lycaon screamed at Luna. 

“Holy Magic—Enchant. Ike-sama, let’s finish this quickly so we can go back to our lovey dovey time.”

Her feelings were pouring into me, filling me with strength. 

“You’re right.”

I said as I encircled my arm around Luna’s waist.

“Now then, shall we begin round two?”

With Luna by my side, I wouldn’t lose against anyone.

Chapter 59: Their Flames

“Now then, shall we begin round two?”

I held Luna by the waist and with a new buff from her, I aimed the Staff of the Dragon Star at Lycaon. 

“Ice Lance.”

I cast Ice Lance once more, but this wasn’t just any Ice Lance. This Ice Lance was enchanted with the holy magic from Luna.

“Oi,oi,oi! You still don’t understand?! As long as I’m covered with this demonic power, your attack won’t reach me—”

The Ice Lance I cast carved through Lycaon’s demonic flesh.

“ARGHH-!!! It hurts!!! But why?! My body is enveloped with the demonic energy of the highest purity?!”

“You still don’t understand? It’s the power of love.”

“The power of love?! Ridiculous!!”

Lycaon snarled. I was a bit sad because I had answered his question truthfully, but more importantly…

“It’s rude to call our love ridiculous.”

“That’s right. This is the power of our love. There’s no other reason.”

Luna and I nodded in agreement. Our hearts were perfectly in sync. We were the best couples, no doubt about it.

“Stop messing around!! Dark Reaper!!”

Lycaon manifested a scythe in his right hand. Just like before, the dark attribute scythe was filled with crimson black demonic energy. Just from a single glance alone, I could tell that scythe was dangerous.

“Holy Shield!”

Lycaon’s scythe was repelled with a loud ‘clank’ sound. 

“Wha-What?! My Dark Reaper didn’t get through?!”

Shocked, Lycaon’s face was filled with disbelief.

“Someone like you dares to touch my Ike-sama… Unforgiveable. I won’t ever forgive you.”

Luna said so with a gentle smile on her face. Well, her eyes lacked their usual shine, but who cared about that minor detail? I had always been focusing on protecting Luna from harm, but now I realized just how wonderful it was to be protected by someone I love in return. This must be what people referred to as ‘coddled like a baby’. Ah… I wish I could live within the Holy Shield that Luna cast forever. 

“Well, that being said… Someone like you doesn’t have any right to touch Luna’s Holy Shield.”

I smiled at Lycaon, though my smile probably looked quite villainous in his eyes.

“So what?! I’m a free man! I have obtained new power! I can brandish my power as I please! Be that be against other living beings or against the world!! I can revel in the chaos and order that the Demon Lord has granted to me!! Just why do you keep getting in the way of my freedom?!”

“That’s not freedom at all.”

Freedom at the expense of other people’s lives was not freedom. That kind of self-centered freedom couldn’t be allowed to exist and if this so-called ‘order’ from Demon Lord would keep interfering with my lovey dovey time with Luna… That meant I needed to destroy it all!! 

“If I say it’s freedom then it’s freedom! The stronger ones is always int he right! No one can get in my way!”

“But you’re the one that got in me and Ike-sama’s way first, you know?”

Luna looked at Lycaon with eyes cold as ice. 

“I won’t forgive you for taking away the time that I could’ve spent with Ike-sama instead.”

Luna raised her hand at me and cast another holy magic. 

“Holy Magic—Enchant. All Enchant.”

She gave me the strongest buff I could ask for.

“Alright. Since my wife said she won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you as well. Let’s wrap this up quickly.”

I couldn’t wait to enjoy my lovey dovey time with Luna. 

“One Thousand Crimson Cannon.”

Just like two flames combined became more powerful, now that Luna and I combined our power together, we became the strongest. 

“Time to release everything. Love Explosion.”

This was the strongest flames that we both could unleash for now. Of course, we would become even stronger tomorrow and the day after. As long as we were together, we would keep getting stronger.

“”Drop dead.””

Luna and I unleashed Love Explosion on Lycaon at the same time. 

“A-ARGHHH!!”

Consumed by the flames of our love, Lycaon’s body burned until his body was reduced to nothing but ashes. Now… I only needed to capture Hero Julisu and Raiza. 

Or so I thought. By the time I realized it, they were nowhere to be seen. Euclid must had took them away. She was always smarter than Raiza after all. 

Regardless, their escape didn’t change the fact that Luna and I had won today. 

“Now then. Shall we go back so we can be lovey dovey together?”

“Yes. Let’s go.”

With our arms entwined around each other’s waist, we returned to the Elf Kingdom’s royal castle.
