I readied the Staff of the Dragon Star to fight the Demon Lord worshiper, Lycaon. The explosion sound that came from the direction of the royal castle indicated that other Demon Lord worshipers had launched an attack on the castle. 

I wanted to return because I was worried about Luna, but Saintess Alisa and the elf knights were there. They should be able to keep Luna safe. Besides, I didn’t know what this mad guy would do next if I let him go now. I wanted to defeat the enemies here for the sake of my happy married life with Luna, but at the same time, I couldn’t stop worrying about Luna.

“Every time spent talking with you guys is wasted…”

I cast a large number of lightning magic circles. Humans used electrical signals to command their muscles. By sending a stronger electrical charge, I could cause the muscle to become petrified. In other words, lightning magic was the most efficient attribute to incapacitate the enemies. 

“Darn it!! Shield!!”

“How dare you underestimate us!!”

Raiza and Hero Julius cast defensive magic, but of course, they were the ones that underestimated me. A shield of that caliber wouldn’t be enough to stop me. 

“I see you two can only cast weak defensive magic like that. How generous of you. It looks like I will be able to return to my beloved wife faster than my expectations.”

“A-ARGHHHH!!”

“G-GUAHHHH!!”

Struck by my lightning magic, Raiza and Hero Julius fell to the ground. 

“Yo-You…!! I will kill you!!”

‘Big brother’ Raiza glared at me. His eyes were full of murderous intent. I was truly relieved to know that Alisa was on my side. Even though I wasn’t as powerful as I was back then, but I was certain the shield that Alisa cast during my fight with Hero Julius didn’t get broken easily. Compared to Alisa, the shield cast by Julius and Raiza was much, much, much weaker.

“Oi,oi,oi! Don’t forget about me! Come on, let’s dance!!”

Glancing toward the source of the voice, I saw Faraus preparing to attack me.

“Dark Magic―Dark Reaper!”

I cast a barrier magic with one hand, blocking the dark scythe made from dark magic. 

“Ah, right. You were here too. I almost forgot.”

In Fortune Lover, Dark Reaper was an annoying skill that inflicted status ailments when hit. The particularly annoying part was it had the chance to cause instant death. But, there was nothing to fear. If I knew when he was going to attack me, I just needed to block the attack. 

“I see… Your ability is even more impressive than the rumors.”

Faraus smirked.

“Nice! Alright! Let’s dance some more!!”

Faraus attacked me again. I defended against Faraus’ attack with a defensive spell while countering with a large number of lightning magic circles at the same time. Everyone in here had directed their hatred and hostility toward me. Only one person didn’t attack me. 

“I dedicate my souls to God! Punish this insolent one!!”

It was the priest who had been excommunicated from the Holy Church by Alisa. His name… His name was Marwin if I wasn’t mistaken. His appearance here couldn’t even be more perfect though. I didn’t know what he planned on doing here, but might as well take this chance to finish this guy off as well. I spared him back then, but since he was here, he must be trying to disrupt my happy married life with Luna. I couldn’t afford to spare him anymore. 

But then, Marwin did something entirely unexpected. He took a dagger from his pocket and plunged it into his own heart. 

“Ugh..!!”

Dak energy was swirling around Marwin, who was curled up on the ground. 

“Just what is he doing…?”

The crimson-black energy gradually took on a tangible form, enveloping Marwin. It didn’t take long before Marwin was transformed into a mass of red-black flesh, shaped like a grotesque heart. Seeing the change, Faraus, who had been attacking me, stopped and stared at the red-black mass of flesh that was once Marwin. Faraus looked excited while Lycason also stared at Marwin with an almost enthralled expression on his face. 

“Ah, what a waste… Such a pure dark energy… It would be rude not to savor it.”

So he said before Lycaon approached Marwin and began to eat the flesh right here and there. 

“Delicious… So delicious… Tasty… Mmh.. So delightful…”

Lycaon devoured what was once Marwin with single-minded fervor. I was so surprised that I stopped moving, unable to comprehend the situation. Then, I suddenly regained my senses. I had a bad feeling. 

I released a lightning spell in an instant, focusing on speed over power, but I was too late. Lycaon had already transformed. His body turned into the same shade of crimson-black as Marwin. The moderately powerful spell I unleashed was unable to even scratch Lycaon.

“Ah… The power… It’s overflowing.. I’m filled with power…”

“I see… I guess it’s time for me to get serious.”

I readied the Staff of the Dragon Star once more. I needed to go all out now. I couldn’t afford to lose here, not if I wanted to protect my happy married life with Luna.
