Chapter 55: The Start of a Ridiculous Party

“Why hello there Prince Faraus. What a coincidence to find you here.”

Faraus was flabbergasted to see me, but I saw a few familiar faces behind him. 

“How did you get here?! Impossible! Weren’t you supposed to be in the middle of a meeting to defeat the Demon Lord Worshiper?!”

Given that Faraus knew this detail, there must be other traitors hiding in the royal castle. In fact, seeing how smooth Faraus’ escape was, it was clear to see that someone was helping him behind the door. 

“I wonder why?~ I mean, I guess I should get back to the meeting to defeat you guys? Well, it’s probably too late for that now. King Veiron must be busy with his other schedule.”

“Shu-Shut up! How dare you smile like that?! Do you even know who I am?! I’m the prince of the Elf Kingdom! Faraus Rosegarden!”

“Huh? But you were stripped off your title yesterday, right?”

“You… How disrespectful! I will kill you!”

Faraus glared at me.

“Now then… Big Brother Raiza and Hero-sama, why are you two here? Are you guys planning a treason?”

Besides… Was that Euclid, Raiza’s lover? I see. These guys had become the enemy of humanity. Things were progressing in a different direction than the original story. In fact, the hero himself was siding with the Demon Lord Worshiper, the group he was supposed to defeat. Just what were these guys thinking?”

“A treason…?”

Raiza muttered, as if cursing the words out. 

“I’m not interested in that! I just want to send you and Father to hell! Nothing else matters!”

“But Big Brother Raiza, if you do that, you will lose your home too, you know?”

“That’s something I will think about after I send you to hell. Oh, don’t worry. I will be sure to send your beloved Luna Olhein to hell with you too!”

As expected of my big brother, he knew how to push the right button to hit a nerve. In that case…

“Oh? If you want to die so badly then come on, be my guest. I will finish you off here. I won’t hold myself back, like I did during our duel. I will beat you until you’re black and blue, so much so that you will regret ever being born.”

He had gone this far to pick a fight with me, so I should welcome him with open arms. Anyway… Everyone here was already my… No, OUR enemies.

“Kukuku… The mobs keep barking… In the end, I will be the one to defeat you! Me! The hero…! No, to be precise… By us! The hero and the heroines! The protagonist of this world is not you, it’s me! Hero Julius! Know your place, mob!”

Indeed. Given the original storyline of Fortune Lover, Julius was right. However, that was precisely the reason why I had been working my ass off. I worked tirelessly to shatter that ridiculous plot, the plot that caused Luna to become the final boss which in turn brought her demise. 

“Haa… Who cares about who the protagonist is? The fact still remains that you are just a bunch of assholes who are interrupting my lovey dovey time with Luna. That’s enough reason for me to fight you.”

“Your lovey dovey time with Luna? Heh. You’re really looking down on me.”

Hero Julius grinned at my words. From my perspective, these guys were the ones that looked down on me first. 

“Now, now. Calm down. Welcome, Ike Hanbulg! I’ve heard so many things about you! Your immense magic power and its destructive force… Your power is being underestimated by the people around you! Someone as powerful as you should’ve wielded your power more freely and made the world bend to your will! Don’t you think so?! Of course that thoughts must’ve crossed your mind!”

“Who are you?”

“Come on now, don’t be so cold. I’m Lycaon, the one in charge of managing the Demon Lord Worshiper in the Elf Kingdom. But, enough about me. Ike Hanbulg, I respect you a lot. I will say it again and again, you should try to think more about yourself.  Use the power you have for yourself! Don’t let yourself be tied down by other people!”

“Shut up. I don’t care about my power or whatever. All I want is to live happily with Luna. You clearly have the wrong idea about me, but you know what? I can’t stand the sight of you guys. I hate how you guys always disrupt my lovey dovey time with Luna.”

“I see. How very unfortunate.”

Lycaon let out a deep sigh before he continued.

“But first…”

Lycaon snapped his fingers.

“I’ve sent my friends to the royal castle… Now then, will you be able to return in time to save them?”

Several explosions echoed, one of which came from the direction of the royal castle. 

“Oh, you’ve done it now.”

I readied the Staff of the Dragon Star. 

“Now, now! There’s more where it comes from! The fun has just begun… Your wife, your comrades… The residents of the Elf Kingdom!! Everyone is invited to this party!!”

Lycaon laughed maniacally. Now I had more than enough reason to beat these guys. People like him who toyed with other people’s lives disgust me so much. I wouldn’t be satisfied until I beat him good and had him taste his own medicine.
