Chapter 5: I’m the Only One That Can Use the Strongest Weapon From the Original Game? Really…?

“Ah! I’m so happy I get to go out together with Ike-sama…!”

We were standing at the entrance to a certain hidden area of the game. Actually, this hidden area could already be accessed at the start of Fortune Lover’s main story. This area was unrelated to the main story, there was no need to come to this place if the player only wanted to enjoy the game casually. However, for someone like me that was aiming to clear the game multiple times, there were various areas that I needed to visit. This hidden area was one of those. 

“Yeah, I don’t want to be separated from Luna even for a second.”

“Ufufu~ I feel the same way too!♡”

Luna said so as she leaned her cheek against my shoulder happily. 

Ughhhh!~~~ I want to keep being lovey-dovey with Luna forever! Just like usual, Luna looked so adorable today as well!!

Truth is, I didn’t want to bring Luna to this dangerous place. However, I couldn’t afford to leave her at the Hanbulg residence alone either. After all, I was afraid people like Euclid would start bullying her again while I was away.

The biggest obstacle to my lovey-dovey life with Luna was my older brother, Raize. Recently, because of the incident a while ago, I exposed Euclid’s crime and she was expelled from the mansion. However, the truth was, Raiza also had an illicit relationship with Euclid. Of course, it was a forbidden relationship between the maid and the master.

What if my older brother found out his lover had been kicked out because of his useless younger brother who spent his days playing with women? Of course he was bound to retaliate. I actually didn’t mind if I was the only one suffering from his wrath, but I couldn’t let Luna become my older brother’s target as well. 

Unlike Ike, Raiza was more like a mid-boss. By the way, Ike was not a mid-boss in any way. He was so pathetic. He was just a small fry in Fortune Lover. It was partly because Ike, the villain, was destined to fight the hero later on, when the hero had accumulated more level and experience. But really, Ike was a small fry that was not worth considering as an opponent. There was no urgency, no sense of challenge when fighting Ike. Ike was nothing compared to his older brother, Raiza, almost like night and day. 

Anyway, since I had gotten Euclid kicked out from the mansion, Raize would return to Hanbulg family soon. He must be furious and ready to take some action against me. I knew if I were to challenge him in my current state, I would lose. Almost pathetically so. Hence why, I needed a plan. 

The artifact that could be acquired in this hidden area was crucial for my plan. 

“Ugh… Alright, let’s go.”

“Yes. I will accompany you to wherever you go, Ike-sama~♡”

The heart at the end of her sentence sent shivers running down my spine. Ah, this must be love… Ughhh!! The original Ike was really stupid!!

Anyway, back to the plan. 

Luna and I walked into the hidden area. That was right. As someone who had played the game multiple times, I knew which route to choose so I could get to the hidden room within the hidden area without encountering a single enemy. This was the kind of strategy that was known only to me. 

Sure, Ike could use the basic magic, but it was impossible for him to clear this hidden area in the conventional way. Besides, I didn’t want to risk Luna getting injured in the process. Hence why I needed to take the safe way out. 

“Alright, this should be it.”

“I-Ike-sama…? Have you been to this area several times before? This place is a hidden room, isn’t it? Even I have only heard rumors about the existence of the hidden room…”

“Well, this is actually my first time coming here.”

“In that case, Ike-sama must be favored by the goddess! Have I caught such an incredible person to be my husband…? Ah, this must surely be the fate granted by the goddess to me!”

While Luna was busy talking about the goddess, I opened the treasure chest. 

“For now… The item we’re looking for is… Alright, here it is.”

Inside the chest, there was a staff. The staff was made of wood and it was about the same height as me and the handle of the staff was decorated with geometric patterns.

“This is…! Artifact?! How can it be in a place like this?! Just finding one of them will give you a title and land from the royal family… Not to mention, in order to be able to use it, you need to understand the structure of the said artifact…”

『Would you like to awaken the artifact – Staff of the Dragon Star?』

『Yes / No』

The ever so familiar selection screen from Fortune Lover appeared before my eyes. Without any hesitation, I selected ‘Yes’. The artifact activated. The item, which had been just a mere stick before, glowed green along the geometric patterns. The glowing artifact, the Staff of the Dragon Star, instantly resonated with my body. Somehow, I could understand the flow and the nature of the magic power coursing through my entire body.

『Congratulations! You are the first person in this world to possess the artifact Staff of the Dragon Star!』

The Fortune Lover screen appeared again. I see. So in this world of Fortune Lover, I was the first to own Staff of the Dragon Star. 

『Would you like to register as its user? By registering as its user, you will gain the exclusive use of Staff of the Dragon Star.』

“Of course the answer is ‘Yes’.”

What great news. That meant I was the only one that could wield this cheat-like weapon.

“Ike-sama…! You look so wonderful! So gallant! But, no, wait!! How can you use the artifact?!”

“It’s just a coincidence.”

“I believe that’s not something you can use just by mere coincidence!”

I see. It seemed in this world, an artifact wasn’t something that could be used willy-nilly.

“Anyway, let’s check out this staff’s capabilities.”

Artifacts were cheat-level items, especially this staff. Staff of the Dragon Star was an overpowered item among overpowered items. I could defeat the final boss with just this staff.

By utilizing my game knowledge, I ventured deeper into the hidden area. Of course, I deliberately choose the safe route.

“Of course. I don’t want anything bad to happen to you, Luna.”

Well, I still didn’t want to tell Luna everything because I didn’t want her to think of me as weird. Now that I had this staff, I could easily defeat any monster we encountered. But still, it was better to be safe than sorry. 

“Ike-sama… You’re really kind.”

“I’m not kind though…”

“Hehehe~ If only that kindness could be mine and mine only… No, I mustn’t. It would be selfish of me to wish that.”

No, it’s already yours though? Actually, my intentions are anything but pure. That’s why… Calling me kind… I don’t think ‘kind’ is the right word for me.

Luna and I eventually reached the boss area.

“I’ve missed you, Ancient Golem-san.”

“GUOOOOOOOO!!”

In front of me, stood a gigantic golem over 5 meters tall. This was the hidden boss of this area. This boss had high durability, making it a difficult boss to defeat in a short amount of time. Player had to chip the health bar slowly in order to defeat it. Moreover, even a small mistake could be fatal. This Ancient Golem was definitely a formidable enemy, even for Fortune Lover standards. 

Of course… That was if you tried to defeat it in the conventional way. 

Ancient Golem quickly recognized me as an intruder and launched an attack at me. I readied my staff. By using the power of Staff of the Dragon Star, magic circles of various colors—red, blue, yellow, black—unfolded around me.

“Die now!!”

Along with thunderous blasts, rains of magic spells that were never seen before poured down on the Ancient Golem. The huge golem reduced to dust in an instant.

“Is this the power of the artifact?! No, based on Ike-sama’s calm demeanor, it seems he already knew how to defeat this monster from the beginning… Could it be…?! The rumors of his womanizer nature was merely a cover-up to hide his true abilities…?!”

Luna was staring at me with eyes full of admiration, causing me to feel a bit good about myself. 

“We-Well… Right now, I’m fully devoted to Luna only though.”

“Ike-sama..!!”

Luna hugged my arm. Ah, the sensation of Luna’s touch. She was incredibly soft and she smelled really nice too. A sweet vanilla scent. I loved her scent so much. Ah, I was truly fortunate I got to reincarnate as Ike. 

“Right, right, can’t forget about this.”

And thus, I obtained another artifact. A drop item from Ancient Golem.
