Chapter 41: Victory for Us Two

“I will become the most important thing to Ike-sama and Ike-sama will become the most important thing to me in this world… That is my privilege. My exclusive privilege as Ike-sama’s wife.”

THANK GOODNESSSSSS!!!! I thought for a moment there Luna was going to fall into the dark path and become the final boss!! But still… Regardless of the outcome, my wife was angry too. I really needed to end this quickly. 

“Ike-sama, this is my love. Please accept it. All Enchant.”

Luna raised her hand toward me and I could feel my entire body becoming lighter. My mind felt refreshed and sharper too. 

“A buff from my beloved Luna?!”

Now that thing had turned out this way, I had to go all out! I readied my artifact and…

“I won’t let you! Dark Horizon!!”

“Too slow.”

I immediately deployed another magic circle. Thanks to Luna’s All Enchant, I was able to deploy my magic spell faster! The processing load on my brain to construct the magic circle was practically null!

“Wha-What is this?! This power…!”

This buff was on a different level from the previous speed enhancement. It wasn’t just my speed. My firepower, my stamina, my defense and even my mental strength had increased significantly. I could feel it… This buff was so much better than the buff Alisa, a saint, could provide. In fact, in the original Fortune Lover game, there weren’t any all package buffs like this. All buff skills were only able to increase one status. 

“I see.”

I remembered. In the final battle against final boss Luna, she was able to use All Debuff skill. Maybe this All Enchant skill was a glimpse of what Luna could be in the future…?

“Unforgivable! Just because you’re born as nobles, you can live without knowing hardship or pain! There’s no way I’m going to lose against privileged people like you!”

“Who are you to tell us we don’t know what hardship or pain is? What could someone like you possibly understand about our life? Luna has suffered. She was shunned as a cursed child, abandoned by practically everyone in the whole nation. Even her own parents shunned her! She was so broken and out of options that she had to seek my help through marriage. I remember how tattered Luna was when she asked me to save her… Do you even understand her pain?!”

I could never forget the expression on Luna’s face from that time. How devastated she was… How scared she was… I could tell she was scared I might refuse her. The trauma from being rejected all the time… Her pain must be unimaginable. My heart nearly broke into pieces when I was rejected by that black company during my probation period. There was no way a young girl like her could endure something far worse. Especially since Luna had to face this pain since she was young. She wasn’t even an adult yet!

“In that case, that’s all the more reason why you should embrace the salvation offered by the Demon Lord! The ideal world the Demon Lord could give is the true salvation! We, humans, should band together to make that world come true!”

“Just shut your mouth already. If this so-called salvation for all humanity is only going to make Luna unhappy, then I won’t place my trust on it even for one bit.”

“Shut up!! Shut up!Shut up!Shut up!Shut up!Shut up!”

Enraged, Orthrus unleashed a barrage of dark magic spells. I blocked each and every one of them with precision using my defensive magic. Thanks to the All Enhance buff Luna had given to me, I could see all of his attacks without fail. 

“Darn it!! How dare you mock me?!”

Looking clearly frustrated, Orthrus started cursing us. This must be his true nature. However, I really couldn’t care less. It was time for me to end this fight for good.

“Let’s end this here… Shall we, Luna?”

“Yes, Ike-sama.♡”

I pulled Luna close to me by her waist and pointed the Staff of Dragon Star at Orthrus, the shitty bastard. Luna encircled her arms around my side and leaned her body against me. She was practically giving me another buff by staying close to me like this. 

Confident in our victory, I began casting a large number of fire attribute spells. 

“Intermediate Magic―Crimson Cannon.”

I was the one that taught Luna to stockpile multiple fire spells to create a bigger damage. Now that I had Luna by my side, the combination of our powers opened a brand new door. Our firepower became limitless. 

“”Die.””

Luna and I unleashed our magic spell in unison. Rain of fireballs merged into a single massive meteor that descended upon demonized Orthrus. 

“A-ARGHHHHH!!”

And so, Luna and I were victorious over the demonized Orthrus.

Chapter 42: Feeling of Gratitude

“Finally… The two of us finally can take it easy now~♡”

Luna whispered sweetly into my ear. We were in our room, finally alone together. 

“Ye-Yeah…!”

After we defeated the demonized Orthrus, things were finally settling down. The base of the Demon Lord Worshipper had been reduced to dust, it could no longer serve its original function as a base. By the way, Alisa and the crusaders had taken the already incapacitated Orthrus with them. I said incapacitated, but it was more precise to say Orthrus was ‘half-dead’. Anyway, Alisa had restrained Orthrus and healed him a bit so they could interrogate him later. 

Right now, there was nothing that could interfere with me and Luna anymore. I didn’t have anything to worry about anymore!! And yet… Now that I realized nothing stood between our private time… I became incredibly nervous. I had no idea what to do! I didn’t know what to say either!

“A-Anyway, I’m going to wash up first! I’m sorry, but please wait a little bit for me!”

I had heard washing first was a must in situations like this. Besides, I definitely could use this opportunity to calm my nerves. Otherwise, I doubt my heart could handle it. 

By the way, the angel wings that sprouted on Luna’s back disappeared after we defeated Orthrus. Luna said she couldn’t bring the wings back again. It seemed there was some sort of trigger that allowed her to bring forth those white wings. 

Well, I didn’t mind though. There was something more pressing that required my full attention right now. 

“But still, the warm water really feels nice.”

I submerged my body into the outdoor bath and the flower sulphurs danced around me. I had gone to sulfur hot springs before in my previous life, but I was really glad to know this world had sulfur hot springs as well. I gazed at the stars as I soaked in my private outdoor bath. 

This feels great… My nerves are starting to calm down now… This must be how a sage feels like… 

“Pardon the intrusion, allow me to join you as well.”

“Lu-Luna?! Why?!”

Luna, wrapped in a towel, entered the outdoor bath next to me. My heart, which I thought had calmed down, started pounding vigorously again! Wasn’t Luna supposed to be waiting for me in the room?!

“Ike-sama, my apologies. I know I’m being selfish, but now that we finally have a chance to be alone together without any interruptions, could I please ask you to indulge in my selfishness for a little bit?”

“I-I mean, of course I won’t mind it!”

She was being unfair. There was no way I would say no after she said all that. 

“Thank you. Ahh… It feels so great.”

“Yeah, the hot water truly feels amazing.”

“As expected from Ike-sama. The quality of the hot spring that you chose is truly incredible.”

So she said as she stretched her arm. Ah, the glimpse of her armpit was quite a provocative sight to behold.

“Actually, there’s something I want to tell you, Ike-sama.”

“Hm?”

Did she notice I was looking at her armpit?! I mean, there was nothing I could do about it now. Might as well brace myself for her incoming anger. 

“I’m actually… Quite greedy, you know.”

“Gre-Greedy? Is that so?”

What she said betrayed my expectations. However, I wasn’t quite sure what she was talking about. After all, she had never made any selfish demands or anything. 

“I actually want to have Ike-sama all to myself.”

“Is that so? If Luna wishes for it, then sure. I don’t mind it at all.”

“Ike-sama… Being too kind is a sin, you know?”

Luna pouted her lips. She looked so adorable. 

“Ike-sama, do you understand? Do you know just how much I love you?”

“Huh?”

The declaration of love from my favorite… This… This must be the best thing to ever happen to me!

Or so I thought. Luna then continued on as she kept her gaze firmly locked on me.

“Just as I’ve told Ike-sama before… I was at the lowest point of my life when I reached out to you. After Archbishop-sama cursed me, my life was a total disaster. There were days when I thought dying would be the better option, but even so… I still wanted to live. I clung to that hope desperately, but no one else was willing to accept me except for you, Ike-sama. To be honest, I didn’t think I could endure the pain. I was thinking of cursing the entire world at that time.”

“Tha-That’s…”

Luna actually became the final boss and turned the whole world against her in the original story. Thank goodness that we were able to prevent that from happening. There was no way I wouldn’t reach my hand out to help her. When someone that looked exactly like my favorite were to propose to me, of course I wouldn’t refuse her. In fact, I could feel a sense of duty emerging in me. I felt like I had to make her happy instead. 

“Just being accepted by you is already enough to make me happy, but Ike-sama… You’ve been nothing but kind to me. I know you started practicing magic because you were concerned about your figure. When the Hero mocked me, you were angrier about me than myself and while you were fighting that Demon Lord’s worshiper, you always kept an eye on me the entire time…”

This is bad. I don’t know why, but the mood feels a bit different. My heart is racing like crazy right now.

“That’s why… The reason why I have this overwhelming desire to monopolize you… I’m sure this is all Ike-sama’s fault.”

Luna smiled before she continued. 

“I love you, Ike-sama. I don’t want to hand you over to anyone. I really, really love you.”

Luna’s smile was more beautiful than the star shining above us. 

“Tha-Thank you…”

This is bad. I’m so embarrassed!! 

My face was burning hot, prolly because I was soaking in the hot spring. 

“Me too… I love you too, Luna. You’re the only one for me.”

This was the best I could muster from the turmoil brewing in my heart. 

“That’s why… To make my wish come true, I know I need to do my very best.”

“Don’t push yourself too hard. A-Anyway, shall we get out of the bath now?”

“That’s right. Let’s get out of the bath. After all, the night is still young.”

My heart wouldn’t stop pounding as I looked at Luna’s smile. I was happy, but I doubt my heart could handle what was going to happen tonight. 

And so, Luna and I ended up spending a blissful night together without sleeping a wink.
