Chapter 32: The Demon Lord Worshipper’s Plan SIDE : Raiza

“It’s been a while, Raiza. I’ve been feeling lonely since I couldn’t get in touch with you recently.”

I, Raiza Hanbulg, had come to a certain place in the Kardi region. This place was one of the Demon Lord Worshipper’ hideouts. 

“Oh, come on Orthrus-san. You already know about my situation, right?”

“Haha…. Did I hurt you? I apologize for that.”

Orthrus was the leader of the Demon Lord Worshippers in the Kardi region. I had known Orthrus for three years, around when I entered my second year at the academy. At first, I only started frequenting the hideout of the Demon Lord Worshippers solely because I wanted to find some thrill in my life. Or at least, that was what I told Hero Julius. I convinced him that the Demon Lord Worshipper was a necessary pawn in order to settle the score with Ike, our common enemy. 

Let me say this first. I liked this organization. I liked the Demon Lord Worshipper. Why? The reason was simple. Within this organization, every crime could be justified. Whether you torture and kill commoners… Or use forbidden magic… None of that mattered to this organization. This organization treated me honorably. I was treated like the noble I was. Neither my father nor Ike understood. This. This was the true mindset of a noble. 

“Raiza-sama… It’s been a while.”

“Ah, Euclid… You’ve become so haggard.”

Before me stood my former maid, Euclid. It truly had been a while since I last saw her. She looked a bit thinner now, well I guess I could say the same about me. I had lost a lot of weight since I was sent to the northern monastery. I was deprived of meals for some sort of weird excuse like ‘bad behavior’ or whatever. 

“Ahh! I’m so ashamed! I can’t believe I dare to show this disgraceful state to Raiza-sama!

Euclid hid her face with her hands, looking clearly distraught. I could understand her sentiment painfully well. I was also humiliated by the same people. The humiliation must had been worse for Euclid, since she was a woman.

“I don’t mind it. You will stick with me to the end, won’t you?”

“Of course, Raiza-sama!”

“Then, fret not. I will take full responsibility for you until the very end.”

“Ra-Raiza-sama…”

Moved by my words, Euclid started shedding tears. 

Hear me up, Ike… I’m going to kill you no matter what. I guess I should feel grateful that Father sent me to the northern monastery. Thanks to him, I realize there is no god in this world.

In fact, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say I was going to do something good for the people instead. I planned on breaking the brainwashing that had plagued the people of this kingdom. I was going to make them understand that we, nobles, were truly the chosen bloodline. The world would become a better place. I would personally make sure of that by killing anyone that dared to go against me. 

“Raiza, unfortunately… I have bad news for you. Your little brother, Ike Hanbulg, has become the new lord of the Kardi region.”

Orthrus suddenly said something that didn’t make any sense to me.

“Huh? What do you mean by that?”

“Apparently that incompetent king bestows this land to Ike Hanbulg as a reward for slaying the Black Dragon. Ahh, how unfortunate indeed.”

“What?! You’ve got to be kidding me…?!”

That trash took down a Black Dragon?! He must had used some kind of underhanded trick!

“Now, now, calm down. I understand your feelings, Raiza. After all, this land is supposed to belong to the Demon Lord, so for someone like him to claim this land as his… How preposterous…”

“Exactly!”

“But, let’s try to think positively! Everything will be fine. After all, we have the Demon Lord on our side.”

Orthrus said as he turned to look at Hero Julius.

“Hero. We normally wouldn’t welcome someone like you into our ranks, but… We have a common enemy, Ike Hanbulg. Of course, when the Demon Lord comes to this world, we may become enemies again, but for now… I guess it’s best if we put our differences aside in order to defeat our common enemy first. After all, don’t you agree that we both are the real protagonists in  this battle? Of course we will need to get rid of the annoying side-character first…”

“Yeah, sure… I think the same too, but…”

Hero Julius trailed. 

“Don’t get it wrong. I’m the one who will take down both Ike and the Demon Lord. Me, Hero Julius. Don’t forget that. I’m only going to make that bastard pay the price for humiliating me.”

Pfft! The heck with that ‘don’t get it wrong’ bullshit? Pfft!!

“Oi,oi, Hero-sama…. I’m the one who’s going to take Ike down. That little brother of mine has never shown me the respect I deserve. He even dared to turn his fangs on me. Do you understand it now? The price for humiliating you? I don’t give a damn about that. Just the fact that Ike Hanbulg is my blood brother is enough to make my blood boil. If you dare to get in my way, I will kill you first, Hero-sama.”

I threatened. Julius looked a bit taken aback, but he clenched his fist as he stared at me back. 

“…I see. In that case, instead of killing him… I will humiliate him. I guess I can torture and kill Ike’s woman right before his eyes. Ah, can you imagine how devastated Ike would be if I killed Luna?”

“Kukuku…! Very nice! You’re the best! You sound more like a demon than a hero to anyone listening! But, I like it. Fine. You’ve got my approval.”

I only agreed to become this guy’s comrade because I needed him to escape from the monastery. I planned on using this guy to my advantage, but it seemed we were more compatible than I thought. 

“Now,now, I’m sure you two have a lot to discuss, but please… Let us, the followers of the Demon Lord, lend you our strength as well.”

Orthrus said with a beaming smile. That guy must had some kind of plan too. 

“And what help can you offer to us?”

I asked.

“Are you familiar with Dark Magic Circle?”

“Well, I’ve heard rumors about it…”

Dark Magic Circle was a forbidden technique used to summon monsters, but this technique came with a price. You needed a sacrifice to use this technique. There was a legend that said a nation was once destroyed because someone misused this technique. 

“Then? What about it?”

“Well, we’re using the Dark Magic Circle to send a horde of ogres to Sulfur City. Coincidentally, Ike Hanbulg is staying in that city as of now.”

“Ogre?!”

A single ogre was fearsome enough. It was a monster with danger level B. If this Demon Lord Worshipper group really had summoned a horde of ogres… There was no doubt that city would be reduced into ashes by the ogres. 

“In that case, we better get going then.”

“Ah! How exciting! I can’t wait to see that guy’s face as he falls into utter despair!”

Hero Julius and I exchanged glances before we laughed sinisterly.
