Chapter 28: Before the Departure – I Just Can’t Go against Marsha-nee

“As expected from the son I’m proud of! Ike, not only did you get the king to reduce our tax, but you also received the permission to own the artifact legally! I couldn’t be prouder as your father! Ah, as long as we have you around, our dukedom will prosper for sure!

My father, Ganon, laughed heartily while patting his large belly. Three months had passed since I received the rewards for slaying the Black Dragon. Before me, we were having a scrumptious and luxurious meal. Luna was also smiling at me. Ah, Luna looked as adorable as always. 

“On top of that… The church has recognized you as the White Saint! The next head of our family is a saint! Thanks to that, we’ve received so many gifts from those trying to curry favor! Ah, as expected from my son!”

Gann was really excited. 

I slowly placed my knife and fork down. I wiped my mouth with a napkin before I talked to my father. 

“Father, I believe this is the fifth time you’ve told this story today.”

“Ohhh? Is that so?~”

Ganon feigned ignorance. This exchange had occurred everyday and I was starting to feel tired of it. 

“By the way, you’re leaving for the Kardi region tomorrow, right? Are you going to manage that territory from now on?”

yes, as I’ve mentioned a week ago, I will head to the Kardi region tomorrow.”

“Hoho~ I see. Luna-dono, are you prepared to leave too?”

Ganon asked and Luna responded with a graceful smile. 

“Yes. I’m ready to go wherever Ike-sama goes at any time. As his wife, I don’t have any intention to become his burden.”

AS HIS WIFE!!!

Ah, what a wonderful sound. My most beloved heroine adored me this much… When I first reincarnated as Ike, I thought this was the end of me, but… I was truly happy now. I wanted to protect this happiness at all costs!

“I see. By the way, I’ve been hearing some… Troubling rumors lately. It seems a group claiming to be the Demon Lord worshipers have started kidnapping people at night for their nefarious rituals.”

“Demon Lord worshippers…?”

The Demon Lord worshippers were a group of people that appeared in the original Fortune Lover storyline as enemies of the hero. They were a bunch of ruthless people that would do anything in order to resurrect the Demon Lord. That being said, they weren’t Luna’s allies. Luna’s awakening as the Demon Lord was partly their fault actually. They were the one that kidnapped Luna when she had lost her way and then, they continued to abuse Luna with their experiments. They kept subjecting Luna to dark magic that was toxic to the human body. Luna had suffered a lot in the original storyline because of them. In a way, they were even more unforgivable than the original hero to me. 

“Well, if it’s you, I’m sure you’ll be fine!”

“That’s right. Even if these so-called Demon Lord worshippers were to come to us, I’m sure they would be no match for Ike-sama.”

Luna said with a confident smile. Of course, neither Luna nor Ganon knew the true purpose of the Demon Lord worshippers. 

“Don’t worry, I will kill anyone that dares to harm Luna.”

“Ike-sama…♡ Ah, you’re so wonderful!♡”

Luna tucked her beautiful silver locks behind her ear and looked up at me with sweet, slightly upturned eyes. Ahhh! That face was too adorable to witness!

If things were to go according to the original story, Luna would had been walking the worst possible path as the final boss. But now, I had the strongest cheat weapon from Fortune Lover in my possession and also… Ike’s inherent magical talent. I could protect her from harm’s way. 

But then, a large sigh could be heard coming from beside me. Turning around, I could see someone’s purple robe swaying against the wind.

“Good grief… Listen up, Ike. Sure, you are strong, but you mustn’t get complacent, okay? Promise your big sister this.”

Marsha-nee pointed her index finger at me sharply. Her voluptuous chest, hidden by the purple robe, seemed to sway slightly. 

“Ye-Yes, Marsha-nee.”

“Good. You have to keep that in mind, okay? Always remain vigilant.”

Seemingly satisfied, Marsha-nee nodded her head. 

For some reason, I couldn’t go against her. Whether it was because of my own personality or because of Ike’s natural disposition… I couldn’t understand why but I knew I couldn’t win against Marsha-nee. 

“Ah, that’s right. Marsha-nee, could you come to the territory I just received from the king sometime soon?”

“Sure, I don’t mind. Why though?”

“I have something interesting in mind. I think you will like my plan.”

After I said that, Marsha-nee gasped and covered her mouth with both hands.

“Oh my?! Ike doing something for my sake?! In that case, of course I will go! As your big sister, I will be sure to go! Just you wait, I will come to your territory soon!”

Marsha-nee smiled as she said confidently. Her large chest got emphasized even more. She looked happy, so much so that she started humming a tune I didn’t recognize. 

Ah, it made me happy to see her reaction. 

That being said… While I was talking with Marsha-nee, someone was….  

“Ahem!! Ahem!!”

Father started coughing in a deliberate way. I wondered why… Maybe because he felt left out? 

“By the way… Ike, after thinking about it, I’ve decided to send my maid, Melcott, with you. Use her as you see fit until you’ve become accustomed to your new environment.”

“Thank you. I’ll be sure to bring back a good gift as soon as possible upon returning.”

“Oh! I’m looking forward to it then! Gahahahaha!”

Laughing heartily, Ganon gave his impressively big belly a good pat. 

Now then… Just like I said before, I had to make use of anything I had in order to secure a happy married life with Luna. I had no intention of changing my mind, even now that I had a new territory to take care of. 

“Kukukuku…”

I let out a villainous chuckle as the gears in my brain started turning to come up with various plans.
