Chapter 26: Alliance SIDE Hero

“I’m finally here.”

I, Hero Julius, had finally arrived at my destination. I was at the northern monastery. Raiza Hanbulg, the older brother of the detestable Ike should be here to serve the church. Although they call it ‘service’, but it was more like being disowned.

He had been raised as the next head of the Hanbulg family until an incident occurred. He had to relinquish his position as the heir over a simple mistake with a maid. Now, his younger brother was appointed as the next head of the family. Raiza had to get stuck in this desolate northern monastery, living a humiliating life of servitude.

Of course Raize must have had a lot of resentment toward his younger brother.

“Oi, I heard Raiza Hanbulg is here—”

“Don’t screw with me! No matter what, I’m still a Hanbulg! Don’t lump me in with you filthy commoners!!”

In this northern monastery, only the muscular priest and Raize remained. The other people were nowhere to be seen.

“Very well Raiza. You won’t be getting any meals then.”

“Who cares about that?!”

Raiza looked visibly emaciated. It was clear to see he was in a bad shape. His hair was disheveled and any trace of a nobleman in him had already disappeared. 

“I see. Well then, once you’ve finished reflecting on your mistake, feel free to call me. God is always waiting. I look forward to the day you can share a meal together with your comrades here.”

With that, the muscular priest walked away from Raiza. Raiza glared at his back with deep resentment. Upon closer inspection, I noticed a golden ring on Raiza’s ankle. That must be a shackle to prevent its wearer from using magic. This kind of magic restraint device was typically used on prisoners who had committed crimes.  I see. Raiza must had an even deeper resentment toward Ike than I originally expected. 

Unable to hide my smile, I approached Raiza. 

“Are you Raiza Hanbulg?”

“What? Who are you?”

Raiza was clearly suspicious of me.

Well, I actually knew a lot about Raiza since I had already researched about him. 

“I’m Hero Julius. You’ve heard of my name at least, right?”

Raiza gave me a mocking smile. 

“Huh? Never heard of that name before.”

He didn’t bother hiding his hostility, so I revealed the holy stigmata, the proof of my status as a hero. 

“…..Hero-sama, what do you want from me?”

When I showed him the stigmata, he reluctantly accepted that I was indeed a hero. However, we never had anything to do with each other before. So it was only natural of him to still be suspicious of me.

“Tell me, what do you think of your younger brother? Of Ike Hanbulg?”

“Don’t mention Ike’s name in front of me!!”

Raiza slammed his fist against the wall, causing a loud thud. 

“Just hearing his name is enough to make me furious! He’s nothing but useless garbage, but thanks to some artifact or whatever, he became lucky enough to win against me! Look at him! Now he’s acting all  high and mighty just because he won against me by chance!!!”

Raiza shouted. His anger was overflowing. It was clear to see he had a lot of pent-up frustration. 

“And not just Ike. I won’t forgive Father either! Of course, I won’t forgive Ike’s girl either! Yeah, Luna! I’m going to destroy all of them!! Every single one of them!!”

Bingo. Just as I thought. This guy had a lot of resentment toward Ike. Now… I just needed to ignite the fire to let Raiza’s resentment burn even brighter. 

“I see. Say, if you were to receive a chance to get your revenge against them, would you take it?”

“…What?”

Raiza looked confused. 

“Listen here, I’m the Hero. From now on, you will be my comrade. If you do, I will help you regain everything you’ve lost. Just for your information, I have my own set of grudge against your little brother too.”

“….So what? Just look at me. I’d love to get my revenge against them, but I can’t do that. Not in this state. It’s impossible for me right now.”

Raiza said while pointing at the golden shackle on his ankle. He probably meant it was impossible because he couldn’t use any magic. However, that kind of thing was a trivial problem to me. 

“Like I said, I’m the Hero. If you become my comrade, you will also become part of my hero party. That means… You will be able to leave this shitty place and gain honor by defeating the Demon Lord. How about that? Sounds amazing, right? That’s why…”

I grinned from ear to ear.

“Raiza Hanbulg, take my hand. Let’s get our revenge on him!”

The corner of Raiza’s lips curled up ever so slightly. Just as I thought. This guy was the perfect comrade to help me get my revenge on Ike. 

“Well, whether you’re really a Hero or not, it doesn’t matter to me. As long as you can help me achieve my goals, I will let you use me as you like.”

“Sounds good enough to me. You know, I think we can get along just fine.”

I extended my hand to Raiza.

“At least until we send Ike to the deepest part of hell.”

With a vulgar smile like a ferocious beast, Raiza took my hand. 

Just you watch, Ike Hanbulg… You’ve humiliated me in front of everyone. As a hero, it won’t be enough to just send you to hell. I will make you regret ever being born. 

With a sinister laugh, I vowed with Raiza to take revenge on that abominable Ike Hanbulg.
