Chapter 14: Duel~ And Also, the Hero That Ridicules My Wife Is No Match Against Me

Julius licked his lips as he stared at Luna lecherously. 

“But you know… Her appearance is good enough. Hey, how about becoming my servant? Of course, you will need to take care of my lower-half’s needs!! Hahaha! Oh but, I don’t like those glasses. You need to take them off. Girls look better without glasses anyway!”

“Oi… I will kill you, you filthy bastard.”

I didn’t care if they looked down on me, but it would be a different story entirely if they started insulting Luna and her glasses. 

“Huh? What’s a mob like you going to do? Don’t get cocky. You’re just a mob.”

“Then what about you? You’re the one acting all haughty even though this is our first meeting. I don’t care even if you’re a hero or whatever, but you dare to insult my beloved wife. There’s no way I can let this slide.”

“Haaa… Well, whatever. This is the start of my legend anyway. I guess you will become my little punching bag.”

“It seems the two of them have finished talking. Alias, I’m sorry but could you take care of this? Make sure the bystanders aren’t harmed.”

The kind-hearted king who cared deeply for his people. That was how the hero perceived the king. That was the kind of person King Gilga was. He was a logical man that could only think about whether something would benefit or harm him. In other words, he was cold to anyone who he deemed to be detrimental to him. 

“Understood. Deploying defensive magic…”

The beautiful blonde girl donned in a nun’s uniform was called Alisa. She cast a defensive barrier with the help of her staff. 

“Pleased to meet you both. I am Saint Alisa Vanded. I’ve erected a barrier, so feel free to go all out.”

Alisa Vanded. She was one of the capture targets in Fortune Lover. As a saint, she excelled in healing magic, making her a very reliable ally. At the same time, she would make a troublesome opponent if she were to become our enemy.

Hence why, I knew I needed to think of a plan to go up against Alisa. She was one of the heroines, which meant she was on the hero’s side. She would definitely become our enemy eventually. She was a healer and people might underestimate her because of that. However, in reality, someone that excelled in both defense and healing magic like her might be one of the most difficult opponents to deal with. 

“Sorry for using your power as a saint for something like this.”

King Gilga said to Alisa with a gentle smile on his face. 

“No, it’s fine. I don’t mind.”

To be honest, watching the exchange between King Gilga and Saint Alisa was incredibly infuriating for me. Right, right. I just needed to focus on the bastard in front of me who pissed me off even more than those two. 

“Well then.. Luna Olhein, please step back as well.”

Alisa said to Luna and Luna looked at me worriedly.

“Ike-sama… Please, stay safe.”

“Don’t worry. I will never forgive him for insulting you.

“….I will never forgive him as well.”

Luna muttered before she moved behind the barrier Alisa had created.

“Well then. If either of you have anything to say before the mock battle begins, speak now or remain silent.”

“Huh? Of course I don’t have anything to say since it’s obvious I’m going to win.”

The Hero said arrogantly and so…

“Drop dead, you asshole.”

I responded while giving him the middle finger. The Hero looked slightly annoyed at my provocation. 

“Very well. Both of you, get ready! The battle begins… Now!”

“Eat this! Crimson Cannon!”

The Hero shouted as he launched a fire magic at the start of the match. Judging from the name, the spell shot by the Hero seemed to have a high destructive power. However…

“Fireball.”

Such a puny attack didn’t even come close to Marsha-nee’s level. 

“Wha-?! Impossible! Ugh-!! Arghhhh!!”

Contrary to the Hero’s expectation, my Fireball not only swallowed his Crimson Cannon, but also scorched him in its wake. The Fireball continued to fly until the ball of fire dispersed against the magic barrier that S-rank magician had erected.

“Hot!! Hot!! So hot!! This… This wasn’t supposed to happen!!!!”

Even after my Fireball had dissipated, the Hero was still writhing on the ground in pain. 

“Why?!??! I got reincarnated as the hero! I’m supposed to be the strongest!! This is ridiculous!”

“…It seems the time for the grand reveal is not here yet. Son of Hanbulg, I apologize but could we end the match here for now?”

King Gilga said, albeit he was speaking a bit quicker than usual. 

“As you command, Your Majesty.”

“Thank you for indulging my whim. Now then, please enjoy the party to your heart’s content with Luna-dono.”

“I am most grateful for your generosity, Your Majesty.”

For now, it seemed I managed to avoid further problems. As a proof for that, I could see Luna smiling and waving at me. At the very least, I should just take the opportunity given by the king and just enjoy the party with Luna.

I could occasionally hear people badmouthing us in whispers.

“He must be cheating.”

“The Hero must’ve let himself get hurt on purpose just to entertain that trash and yet, the trash himself doesn’t realize the Hero was holding back.”

However, none of that mattered when I had Luna in front of me. I escorted Luna to the dance floor and as we danced, Luna smiled blissfully at me. 

“As expected from Ike-sama.. The Hero is no match against you.”

That being said, I couldn’t afford to be complacent. I had to protect Luna’s smile no matter what. 

Even if everyone here would become my enemy in return.
