Chapter 10: Luna’s Request

“My apologies for interrupting your conversation.”

“Luna? Why are you here?”

I couldn’t hide my surprise since I didn’t expect her to come here. After all, Luna was still the daughter of a duke, albeit ostracized by her family. Someone like her didn’t need to train her body like this. But still, getting to see Luna was always a win in my dictionary. I didn’t mind this at all. 

Yeah~ My favorite character was adorable today as well~

“I saw Ike-sama heading to the training ground, so I… No, that’s not important right now. Marsha-sama, it’s a pleasure to meet you. My name is Luna. I’m engaged to Ike-sama. I know it’s very rude of me to make a request on our very first meeting, but may I ask you a favor, Marsha-sama?”

“What is it?”

Marsha-nee spoke coldly, but unfortunately she couldn’t quite hide the smirk on her face. I could clearly see how hard she was trying to suppress the smirk from showing on her face. 

“Co-Could you train me as well?!”

“Why?”

“As you may know, I possess the power of a curse.”

“Lu-Luna?!”

“…Go on.”

Ignoring my shock, Marsha-nee encouraged Luna to continue speaking.

“I’ve been afraid of my curse power going out of control until now. That’s why I’ve been avoiding doing anything that may trigger the power, but… There will come a time when Ike may need my help! I will really hate myself if I still can’t do anything when that time comes!”

“Good! In that case, let’s train your magic and also try to control your curse power at the same time! Also, you don’t need to keep mulling your own problems like that. You’re going to become Ike’s wife, that means you’re part of my family too! Just think of me as your onee-chan! Feel free to rely on me when you need me!”

Marsha-nee readily agreed to Luna’s request. No, she practically inserted herself as Luna’s big sister already.

“-!! Thank you very much!”

“Sorry for my cold attitude earlier. I just wanted to try acting like the villain who interferes with her little brother’s love life. But!! I’m satisfied now! Luna-chan! I like your enthusiasm!”

Her character almost never appeared in the main storyline of Fortune Lover, so there wasn’t much discussion about her. But still, I didn’t expect her to be a fan of romance novels, nor did I expect her to have a personality like this. 

“Thank goodness. With this, I can keep being by Ike-sama’s side…”

Luna muttered softly nearing the end of her words. I wondered why… Everything she did and everything she said… She was so adorable in everything!

“Well then, let’s start by checking Luna-chan’s magic power first.”

“Ye-Yes…!”

With that being said, Marsha-nee took out the magic crystal again. Luna then held her hand out over the crystal just like me. 

“Let’s see…”

Marsha-nee muttered as the crystal started emitting blue light. 

“B-rank! That’s quite good for your age! You don’t have as much magic power as Ike, but B-rank is good enough!”

I see, so blue light meant B-rank. 

“Tha-Thank you very much!”

Considering her potential to become the final boss, I knew Luna must possess a considerable amount of magic power. Even the hero and the heroine had trouble defeating Luna. 

In that case, I would have to work even harder so I wouldn’t fall behind from Luna. I wanted to secure a happy married life with Luna without having to rely on her powers. 

“We will check how much you two have improved next month. It’s good to check your development regularly, so we can tell if the training is effective or not.”

“Understood.”

“Tha-Thank you for the help.”

“Alright then. Let’s work hard together in training our magic! All three of us!”

I aimed to reach S-rank! Not only could I get stronger and secure my life from being killed by the hero, but I got to slim this chubby body down too at the same time. It was truly killing two birds with one stone. Ah~ I couldn’t wait for next month. 

And so, the three of us started our special magic training session.

Chapter 11: There’s Nothing More I Can Teach You

“Ike, unfortunately… There’s nothing more I can teach you.”

Marsha-nee said so to me after a month of intensive training. 

“Marsha-nee… Why?!”

I had learned various spells, from beginner to intermediate-level. Of course, we started our lesson with a physical enhancement spell. Ike’s inherent talent or magic and the efficient training methods that I had honed from playing Fortune Lover repeatedly helped me in mastering magic even further. I always prided myself for being perfectly prepared in anything I did.

Today, Marsha-nee gave us a test. Luna and I were tasked to defeat Weak Dragon, an A-rank monster. Of course, we managed to defeat the monster without a hitch. 

However! Right after I had just gained confidence after mastering the magic spell that Marsha-nee had taught me… She suddenly said she couldn’t teach me anymore?! By the way, thanks to the intensive magic training, my chubby body had started to slim down a bit too. 

“Marsha-nee! Please! I still need to get stronger!”

In order to achieve a happy married life with Luna, I had to get stronger. However, if Marsha-nee were to abandon me now, I would be in trouble! I didn’t have anyone that could teach me magic except for her! Putting aside the impending threat from the original protagonist that would surely come our way, I also had to be prepared for an unexpected disaster in the future. I didn’t want Luna to get hurt, no matter what. 

“Please, teach me! Just what’s wrong with me?! I still need to get stronger… Please, Marsha-nee!”

Marsha-nee then grabbed both of my shoulders tightly and sighed deeply.

“But Ike… Look at you! You managed to defeat an A-rank monster so effortlessly without using your artifact! Just for your information, even I would find it challenging to defeat that monster on my own! You do know that kind of monsters are typically defeated in a party? I mean, why do you think I have multiple magicians behind me?! Do you get it now?!”

“Huh…?”

“Not ‘huh! Ike, I saw it all. You really didn’t struggle at all. I know Ike and Luna-chan’s growth has been incredible. After all, I’m the one that has been watching your growth with my own eyes. That’s why, I took the risk by telling you to defeat that monster with Luna-chan since I thought you wouldn’t be able to defeat it without Luna-chan!”

Marsha-nee then clenched her fist tightly. 

“But then, you started saying things like ,’Luna, I don’t want you to get hurt, so please stay back for a moment.’ I let it be since I thought even if something were to happen, Luna-chan could come immediately to help you… In fact, that’s one of the criteria I was trying to judge from you two! I was trying to see your coordination with Luna-chan, but then?? You defeated that monster on your own!! Unbelievable! I don’t even need to check your magic power with the crystal ball anymore! Your magic power undoubtedly has reached S-rank! Not to mention, you’re proficient in all attributes?! Do you understand now?? What can I possibly teach to someone stronger than me?!”

“But Marsha-nee! I still have a long way to go! I haven’t learned all the magic spells available yet!”

“I see. Now that you mention it… I haven’t taught you advanced magic yet… I see… Alright then. Shall we focus on increasing the number of spells you can use instead of focusing on actual combat? Ah, I wonder how much stronger my little brother will become. I’m really starting to get worried I’m not fit to teach you…”

Marsha-nee seemed to be at her wits’ end. However, it was a relief to know Marsha-nee was still willing to teach me. 

“Which brings us to another problem… Luna-chan.”

Luna flinched and shivered upon hearing her name mentioned by Marsha-nee.

“Luna-chan, while it is true that your speed in learning magic isn’t as fast as Ike, but your talent is definitely above average. Yet… I can see you still hesitate to use magic. Is it because you’re afraid of the curse’s power?”

“Yes… If my power were to go out of control and hurt Ike-sama or Marsha-neesama…”

“Luna, that’s not right. Listen, we’re husband and wife. Even if your power were to lose control and hurt me, it wouldn’t be your fault. In fact, you’re never at fault. After all, my happiness lies in you not being hurt.”

Feeling guilty, I slid myself in between Marsha-nee and Luna’s conversation. After all, this was something that I needed to tell to Luna so she could be more confident. 

“That’s… Ike-sama, I’m also the same! I don’t want to hurt you either! Just the thought of my beloved husband starting to hate me because of my power… My heart wouldn’t be able to bear it!”

“Luna… There’s no way I would ever come to hate you!”

I truly didn’t expect Luna would feel this way. 

“Ike-sama… But just the possibility of hurting you scares me so much.”

Wait… Did Luna just say she loves me? ‘Beloved husband’… That clearly meant she loves me, right? Ah~ Just hearing those words were enough to make me be on cloud seven~

“In that case, you just need to train harder.”

Marsha-nee smiled at Luna.

“To be honest, I’m not sure what kind of power Luna-chan’s curse power is. I don’t know what kind of thing will happen if that power were to go out of control, but there’s one thing I do know for sure. If you truly want to stand by Ike’s side, you will have to overcome that curse power sooner or later. Now, let me ask you this question, Luna-chan. Do you want to stand by Ike’s side?”

“Of course! I’m Ike-sama’s wife after all!”

“In that case, you don’t have any other choice. You just need to overcome it no matter how. I will train you even harder from now on, so be prepared!”

“-!! Tha-Thank you very much!”

Luna bowed deeply at Marsha-nee to express her gratitude. 

“Also, don’t call me Marsha-neesama. Just call me Marsha-nee.”

“No, but that would be impudent of me…”

“Come on, hurry up. Call me Marsha-nee!”

“Ma-Marsha-nee…. -sama.”

“Ugh-…! Phew… Alright. I will let you off the hook just this once!”

Marsha-nee groaned in agony. I totally got her though. I definitely understand her feelings. Anyone with working eyes could see how incredibly cute Luna was. That was why Luna was my favorite character in Fortune Lover. 

But still, I didn’t expect Luna would want to stand by my side that deeply. It was really endearing to know her feelings were stronger than I thought. I already liked her, but I found myself falling even deeper in love with her. In fact, it would be strange of me not to fall for her even more!

“Sorry for interrupting while everyone is busy.”

Suddenly, a voice came out from behind us. I turned around and there stood a maid. If I wasn’t wrong… Her name was Melcott. She was a maid under my father’s order. 

“Ike-sama, Master requests your presence.”

“Father? Understood. I will head there right away.”

“Thank you for your understanding. And then… Luna-sama as well. Master has summoned you too. I will guide the two of you to Master.”

Wait a moment. Luna was called too? Somehow… I had a bad feeling about this. 

“Very well. Please guide us.”

“…Luna.”

“Ike-sama, I know you must be concerned about my well-being, but please allow me to accompany you. I wish to stand by Ike-sama’s side no matter what.”

“…Alright. I understand.”

There was no way I could forbid her from coming after she said all that. 

“Should I come along too?”

Worried about us, Marsha-nee offered to come with us. But…

“It’s fine, Marsha-nee. We’ll be fine. I doubt it’s anything serious.”

“I see… I know everything will be just fine since this is Ike we’re talking about but… If anything goes wrong, come straight to me, okay? I will help you too.”

Marsha-nee looked genuinely worried about me and Luna. It was surprising to know Ike had such a kind older sister, especially since Ike was the character that was practically made to be looked down on in Fortune Lover. 

“Thank you, Marsha-nee. We’ll be going first then.”

Marsha-nee still looked hesitant to let us go alone. And so, I headed to my father’s office together with Luna.
