Chapter 02: The Hero of [Resurrection] and the Younger “Senior” Hero
Once again, my consciousness stirred in the darkness, and I slowly opened my eyes.
“Good morning, mister.”
“Ah, um… good morning.”
The moment I opened them, a silver-haired beauty was leaning over me, peering into my face.
There was a soft warmth behind my head.
…Wait. Was I getting a lap pillow from her?
From this angle, I had a perfect view of the underside of her perfectly shaped breasts—dangerously powerful stuff.
…Huh? …Wait, what!?
“W-Why are you naked!? N-No—of course!!”
Right. My [Resurrection] only worked on bodies. Weapons, armor, clothes—none of that came back.
She must’ve fallen into the abyss like me, probably wearing rags at first.
But after rotting away for who knows how many years, even hemp clothes would’ve crumbled to dust. No wonder she was bare.
I quickly stripped off my ragged prison shirt and draped it over her shoulders.
As for the bottom… she’d just have to deal with it.
Prisoners weren’t even given underwear—nothing that could hide contraband.
And if I took off my pants too… well, my “little brother” would be on full display.
No way. Full-frontal nudity was way too much.
Especially when I’d already reacted after seeing those incredible breasts. If she looked down right now, I’d die of shame.
“…Mister, do you want to touch them?”
“Wha—!? W-What are you even saying!?”
“You keep staring. If you want to touch, I don’t mind.”
W-Whaaaat!?
“P-Please stop teasing me!!”
“I’m not teasing. I was often forced to deal with soldiers, so… I’m used to that kind of thing.”
“…No, really, I’m fine. Please don’t worry about it.”
“Is that so? Well, if you ever feel like touching, just let me know.”
…Just from that exchange, I understood a little of the life this girl must have been forced to endure.
…No. For now, I should just thank her.
“You saved me. Truly, thank you.”
“Don’t mention it. Protecting the weak is the duty of the strong.”
“…So, I’m weak, am I?”
“Yeah. You’re weak. I’m strong.”
“Ha… hahaha…”
Okay, fine—she wasn’t wrong!! Factually, she wasn’t wrong!!
But still, I was the hero who actually defeated the Demon Lord.
Getting labeled “weak” right off the bat stung more than a little.
I wouldn’t deny it, since she was right… but still!!
“By the way, who exactly are you, mister? Those golden eyes tell me you’re a hero, but…”
“Ah—sorry for the late introduction. My name is Elott. I was once known as the Hero of [Resurrection].”
“Elott? …Too hard to remember. I’ll just call you mister.”
“…Hard to remember? Well… call me whatever you like, I guess. May I ask your name?”
“I’m Silesta. I was called the Hero of [Blade], more or less.”
Silesta… the Hero of [Blade]…
At least within the last hundred years, there had never been a hero by that name or title.
That meant she was either from an age far older than mine… or her very existence had been erased, buried in the kingdom’s dark history with not a single record left behind.
If possible, I hoped it was the former.
Because if it was the latter, then it meant this kind, selfless girl—who could act without hesitation to help others—had been discarded unjustly.
“Mister, I don’t really understand the situation yet. Can you explain it properly?”
“Of course. First—”
I gave her a clear summary of everything that had happened so far, and the situation I now found myself in.
Silesta nodded slowly, her expression shadowed with sadness.
“…I see. So you were betrayed too.”
“So that means… you as well?”
“Yeah. Just like you, I was judged for a crime I never committed, and thrown down here.”
So she had suffered the same fate as me.
“Mister… do you want revenge?”
“Yes. I want revenge. I want to slaughter every last one of those bastards in the kingdom. …And also—”
“Also?”
“…I want to apologize. To the Demon Lord I killed.”
The Demon Lord had tried to speak with me until the very end.
He had tried to warn me, to guide me—a fool who never thought for himself and let others use him.
Maybe… maybe that Demon Lord had been good all along.
But I killed him.
Even if I apologized, it would never undo what I had done. It would never be forgivable.
And yet, I still wanted to apologize.
The Demon Lord’s body was under strict guard by the Ixion Kingdom.
I would destroy that kingdom, reclaim the body, and resurrect him.
With my [Resurrection], it was possible.
“I see. You’re really strong, mister.”
“…Didn’t you just call me weak earlier?”
“It’s different. You chose your own reasons to live—revenge and apology. That makes you stronger than me. Much stronger.”
As Silesta said this, she looked at me with the faintest smile.
That beautiful smile made my heart skip a beat.
“So, I’ll help you.”
“…Huh?”
“The people I should apologize to are probably long gone. But if you still have someone you want to apologize to, then I want to help.”
“…Thank you.”
“No need to thank me. I’ll also help with your revenge.”
“No, that’s not necessary. I can’t drag you into something like that. It’s my revenge, not yours.”
Having a hero who could instantly kill a wolf stronger than the Demon Lord on my side would be invaluable.
But I couldn’t let Silesta get caught up in my personal vendetta.
At least, that’s what I thought when I tried to politely refuse…
“The country that used me was called the Iclessia Empire.”
“The Iclessia Empire? The nation that collapsed hundreds of years ago—the predecessor to the Ixion Kingdom. A great power once said to possess unmatched military might.”
“After hearing your story, I understand now. The empire may have fallen, but the Ixion Kingdom inherited its rotten ways. They’re not the ones I originally swore revenge against… but filth like that has to be purged. So let me fight too.”
“…I see. Understood. Then, I’ll be counting on you.”
I bowed my head deeply to her once again.
“…By the way, mister.”
“What is it?”
“Why do you keep talking to me so politely? I’m pretty sure I’m younger than you.”
Silesta tilted her head slightly, looking up at me with those wide, innocent eyes.
Whoa—cute!! No, focus!!
“That’s because… you’re my senior, Miss Silesta.”
“But I’m younger. You’re what, around twenty?”
“I’m eighteen this year.”
“I knew it. I’m only fifteen, so you don’t have to act so formal with me.”
“E-Even if you say that…”
What a problem. How was I supposed to handle a younger senior?
“We’re going to be fighting together from now on. I don’t want you putting up walls between us.”
“…Fighting together. You mean, as comrades?”
“Mm-hm. If we share the same goal, then we’re comrades. …Or do you not want me as one?”
And there it was again—Silesta’s devastating upturned gaze.
The impact was so powerful I nearly recoiled.
There was no way I could shake my head at that.
“F-Fine. I’ll try… to loosen up.”
“If it’s still hard, then at least one thing—call me Silesta. Just my name.”
“…That much I can do. Alright then—looking forward to working with you, Silesta.”
“Yeah. Me too.”
Her lips curved into the faintest smile, and without meaning to, I smiled back.
It felt like the first time I had laughed in a very, very long while.
“So then, mister—how do we get back to the surface?”
“…Honestly, I don’t know yet. For now, I was thinking we’d map out the terrain while taking down the monsters around here. Maybe we’d find a clue to escape.”
“No need. I already killed the nearby monsters.”
“…Huh?”
Silesta pointed into the darkness.
And there it was—a massive pile of corpses. The wolves that had slaughtered me hundreds of times, and enormous insect monsters, all stacked into a mountain.
“Wha—!? I-I didn’t even notice in the dark!! Y-You did all of this, Silesta!?”
“Yeah. I was bored while you were sleeping, so I figured I’d clear out the area for safety.”
I was stunned into silence.
Among the bodies were monsters that looked far stronger than the wolf I had barely managed to defeat.
But what shocked me most was the state of their remains.
The insects with rock-hard shells had been sliced perfectly in half, as if their armor had been paper—leaving their materials practically untouched.
Sold, they’d fetch a fortune.
“The cuts are… perfectly clean.”
“My [Blade] skill ignores hardness. Anything I want to cut, I can cut. With a proper sword, I can even send slashes flying across a wide area.”
“…That’s broken.”
“I’d say your [Resurrection] is more powerful, though.”
“…Guess that’s the whole ‘grass is greener on the other side’ thing.”
My hero skill wasn’t built for direct offense, but with self-resurrection, my endurance in battle was unmatched.
Each of us had our strengths and weaknesses.
“Alright then, let’s start scouting the area—”
“Before that, mister, I have a suggestion.”
“A suggestion?”
“There’s only so much the two of us can do. I think we should add more comrades.”
More comrades…
“You mean… resurrecting the past heroes buried here?”
“Yeah. Or… don’t you like the idea?”
“N-No, it’s not that I dislike it, but… waking them up just for our convenience feels a little…”
“You already resurrected me, so it’s a bit late to worry about that. Besides, wouldn’t the past heroes rather be awakened than rot forever in this damp, dark pit?”
“…That’s… true!!”
Still, reviving skeletons consumed a huge amount of stamina.
Realistically, one resurrection a day was my limit.
Which meant… I had to carefully choose which remains to bring back.
“Mister, let’s pick this one.”
“Ah, the bones are neatly intact. Alright, let’s try it.”
My [Resurrection] could bring back even skeletons.
But if the body was missing too many parts, it wouldn’t work—so I had to be careful.
I placed my hand on the corpse Silesta pointed out and activated [Resurrection].
In an instant, a blinding light burst from the bones, so bright I had to shield my eyes. Slowly, the remains reshaped into the form of a living human.
When the light finally faded, a woman stood before us—short emerald-green hair, long bangs veiling her eyes.
But beneath them, I caught it: the unmistakable golden glow of a hero.
…Also, she was very well-endowed.
“Eh? W-What in the world… huh!? W-Why am I completely naked!?”
“Miss, if being naked embarrasses you, do you want to wear this?”
“Wait, no!! If you give her that, then Silesta will be the one naked!!”
Silesta casually tried to hand over the ragged shirt I’d given her, and I panicked, rushing to stop her.
“A shameless girl who strips without hesitation, plus a half-naked young man… this reeks of a serious incident, does it not!?”
“N-No, that’s not it!! Please, just hear me out!!”
It took me quite a while to calm the resurrected hero down and get her to actually listen.

I don’t know. I feel like he should spend as many days as he needs to resurrect as many heroes as he can get. Hundreds of these Heroes need to be resurrected to enact their revenge and regain their lives that they had lost!
Damn, she had slept with many soldiers before? The treatment of heroes in this world is probably the worst out of many novels I’ve read.
Actually, I’ve read several mangas and light novels where female heroes get treated like this. And the male ones don’t get much better, enduring a lot of suffering. So this isn’t really new. But I agree, that they do their best to be nasty.
