Chapter 12: I’ve Been Reincarnated as a Villain, but I Feel Something’s Off
The entrance ceremony ended smoothly, and next was the class assignment announcement.
A crowd had already formed at the bulletin board in the plaza right outside the auditorium.
Of course, we were there too.
Because that’s where we’d find out our classes.
And so, we found out, but…
“Hm… something’s wrong. We should protest,” Tiana said, frowning with clear irritation.
“Why… why aren’t Ark and I in the same class?” she added.
At her words, I looked again at the paper posted on the bulletin board.
Tiana’s name was in Class A.
My name and Sheffy’s were in Class B.
In other words, we ended up in different classes.
I had a vague feeling that Tiana and I might not be in the same class…
Since we’re both from the four major noble families, there’s probably something behind it.
“This is definitely weird. Someone’s pulling strings. I’m going to confront the headmaster directly,” Tiana declared.
“Wait, wait, Tiana!” I called out.
“Okay, I’ll wait,” she replied.
Oh, she’s being obedient.
Tiana stopped and stared at me.
“Class A is where the top students are gathered, right? You passed as the top student, so you should be proud, shouldn’t you?” I said.
“No way. If that’s the case, you should be with me,” she shot back.
“Are you saying I’m strong?” I asked.
“Yeah. I’ve been watching you the closest. I know you better than anyone,” she said.
“Tiana…”
Her words warmed my heart.
Yeah, Tiana and I trained together all the time.
She knows how strong I am!
“But then, why are we in different classes…? It’s weird for us to be separated like this. We should definitely protest. Come with me, Ark,” she insisted.
“Wouldn’t it be pointless if I went?” I asked.
“It’s not pointless. It’ll boost my motivation,” she replied.
“That’s in a bad way, isn’t it…?” I muttered.
I mean, is she planning something even more reckless than me, the villain?
Are childhood friends of villains this independent these days?
“Sheffy, what do you think…?” I asked, feeling like I couldn’t stop her alone and hoping for backup.
“I don’t really think anything,” Sheffy replied.
“R-Really…?” I stammered.
“Yes. Because I’m in the same class as you, Lord Ark,” she said with a smile.
“Ugh! That’s it, I’m definitely going to the headmaster!” Tiana exclaimed.
“Wait, Sheffy!? Tiana, hold on!” I shouted.
Hey, that’s not the kind of backup I meant! You’re just adding fuel to the fire!
“Tiana, calm down,” I said.
“Ugh… I’ll calm down…” she grumbled, clearly holding back.
“It’s probably because classes are divided based on entrance exam scores, so switching now would be impossible…” I started to say.
Then an announcement played.
“As we say every year, classes are assigned to balance academic performance. Class A doesn’t just gather top students. So, please check your class and head to your classroom promptly. Repeating—”
Oh, so classes aren’t assigned by grades.
I see, it’s like the class assignments from my previous life’s school.
I thought this world would be strictly merit-based, with a stronger caste system than my previous life…
But maybe this is part of why this academy is so popular.
“Hmph, there’s no need to balance anything. Ark and I should be in the same class now. We’d be the strongest duo in the academy,” Tiana said.
That sounds kind of fun… but no, no!
My goal is to chase girls, not become the strongest.
But girls like strong guys, so aiming to be the strongest might not be entirely wrong?
Anyway, I need to calm Tiana down before she really goes to the headmaster.
I don’t want her to get expelled over something like this.
“Tiana, what’s done is done, right? Even if we’re in different classes, we can eat lunch together, and we can hang out after school, can’t we?” I said.
“Yeah, you’re right. Then let’s go home now,” she replied.
“It’s only the first day!” I exclaimed.
After the entrance ceremony, there’s class orientation.
“Hey, isn’t that genius girl talking a lot?”
“And she’s with a guy… the one everyone was talking about at the ceremony.”
“Maybe the reason the genius girl never hung out with anyone before was…”
“No way, I thought she wasn’t interested in guys…”
I felt eyes on me and turned to see a group of female students staring.
Actually, a lot of students were looking at us.
We were totally the center of attention.
If I’m going to stand out, I’d rather it be for doing something impressive!
“Tiana, let’s go,” I said.
“Yeah, same class, right?” she replied.
“Hopefully next year!” I said.
I somehow managed to calm Tiana down, and we headed to our classrooms.

Now, class recreation was about to start.
But I… felt something was really off.
Something about this class felt wrong.
Then, the female homeroom teacher spoke up.
“I’ll be the homeroom teacher for Class B starting today. My name is Louise Crusher. Class B has 23 girls and 1 boy, a total of 24 students. We’ll be together for the year. Nice to meet you,” she said.
…Wait, did she just say one boy?
At the entrance ceremony, they said there were 10 boys, right?
And no matter how much I looked around the class, I was the only boy…
“…”
No, something’s definitely wrong here!!
