Episode 6: A Dangerous Skill Was Mixed In
“If your HP (Hit Points) reaches zero, you’ll faint, and if you don’t take any recovery measures in the process, you’ll die. However, it’s confirmed that Japanese heroes don’t die from fainting while residing in the Elcraust continent, but it’s also been confirmed that about half a day’s worth of memories before your death will vanish instead, so it’s recommended not to die too often. The record for the most resurrections in the past is eight times by one person. There have been cases of partial memory loss, and generally, you’ll die if you return to Japan without undergoing TUEE. There’s only been one person in twenty years who misunderstood and died by TUEE in Japan. MP (Magic Power) here is related to magic and skills to be discussed later, it represents mental and spiritual energy. It’s consumed when activating magic or skills. When it’s depleted, you’ll most likely faint, but don’t worry, it’ll recover over time.”
So, it’s called TUEE here on this continent, but it’s not called TUEE in Japan… Someone must have misunderstood it. Ugh, seriously, this is so messed up, I feel like I’m going to screw up.
“Next, attack power represents physical damage, defense represents endurance against physical damage, agility represents speed of action, magic power represents magical damage, and magic defense represents endurance against magical damage. Well, these are similar to game specifications. The higher the number, the stronger it is. Anyway, let’s check my status.”
When Escaia touched her display with her fingertip, it flipped over for easier reading.

As expected, Escaia is a veteran employee… Huh!? Age 123? She’s way older than me!? I guess elves are a race with the ability to cheat their age… and being Employee Rank A means she probably has a pretty good salary.
“Escaia-san is strong. You seem very capable at work, I respect you.”
“Oh no, it’s all thanks to over a hundred years of self-cultivation. But, Hiiro-kun, you’ll surely become strong soon. After all, you’re the world’s first ‘SSS’ hero.”
Escaia-san seemed to be in high spirits, but I didn’t quite understand if being an ‘SSS’ hero was amazing or not, so I just gave a vague smile in return.
For now, it seems like they had great expectations of me, but I don’t feel like I’m that great.
“Now, about the skills, if you want to know the details of any specific one, just tap on the skill name on the display, and the description will appear. Since your three skills are new, I want to write a new skill discovery report, so can you check them now?”
“Oh, sure.”
Prompted, I clicked on the skills displayed on my screen with my fingertip.
‘Skill Creation – Can create a new integrated skill using MP and existing skills,’
‘Skill Mimicry – Can copy and acquire others’ skills by consuming MP,’
‘God’s Eye – Ability to appraise authenticity, people, treasures, poisons, and monsters.’
Hmm, I’m not that smart so I can’t tell if these skills are supposed to be great or not.
As I struggled with the skill descriptions, Escaia-san, who was peering into my pop-up, dropped her ballpoint pen with a clatter to the ground.
“…Huh!? What’s with these broken skills!? This is a disaster. A disaster!! To think such skills exist… Moreover, for the child of the world’s first ‘SSS’ potential hero to have such skills… Ahh, I feel faint…”
Seeing Escaia-san stagger about after looking at my skills, I instinctively got up and hugged her before she fell. The scent of her sweet perfume wafted into my nostrils.
“A-Are you okay? My skills aren’t something useless, right? You won’t fire me, will you, Escaia-san!? Hey, wake up!”
“Oh, I’m sorry. It seems like I’ve seen something I shouldn’t have. To have skills to create integrated skills, copy others’ skills, and appraise everything…”
I sat Escaia down on a pipe chair, her face was looking slightly pale.
“Am I in trouble? Am I an employee who’s useless to the point that Escaia-san would faint?”
“Huh? No, quite the opposite, actually. You’re the greatest talent since our company started. I’m happy to be your mentor, Hiiro-kun. A support staff of a hero who will go down in history… Ahh, it’s like a dream.”
I looked at Escaia-san, who seemed to have gone to a different world, with a stern gaze. When she received my gaze and snapped out of it, she looked at the clock in the training room.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I got too caught up in the training. It seems like it’s already lunchtime. Anyway, that’s it for the training. I’ve taught you the basics, so feel free to ask me any questions whenever you feel like. Now, let’s go eat some lunch, and then in the afternoon, you have the ‘Magic Aptitude Test’ and the ‘Weapon Aptitude Test’. If you don’t have any questions, let’s go have some lunch now.”
“Oh, okay. I think I vaguely understand the job and what it’s like being a hero.”
“Really? Our company is different from ordinary ones in various ways. Oh, and when you’re here, the meal expenses are covered by the company, so you can eat whatever you want for lunch. Japanese cuisine has also become popular here over the past twenty years. Everyone eats it now. Rice is now becoming the staple food, replacing bread. Oh, by the way, the head chef of this cafeteria used to be the head chef of a high-class hotel. He was so fascinated by the freshness of the ingredients here that he immigrated just to cook with them. He even got married to a local here. That person is the one you mentioned earlier, the guy in the missing person case.”
Talking about food, Escaia-san suddenly looked a lot younger and more energetic. She must be someone who enjoys eating delicious food. And the fact that a missing person immigrated here… Is this place really that good?
“Now, let’s go to the cafeteria. Hmm, what should I eat today…”
She shifted from being firm to making comical movements, fainting in surprise, or smiling at the thought of food, Escaia-san was never boring to watch.
“If you have any recommendations, please let me know. I’m looking forward to it.”
“Huh!? Both of these are must-try dishes but… Hey, wait… Ahh, what should I recommend to Hiiro-kun?”
We left the training room and headed to the cafeteria with Escaia leading the way.

Authors note:
This is bad. There was a high-spec protagonist who could copy and create skills and had an appraisal ability too. Moreover, they don’t even understand their own abilities, which is scary haha.
