- Chapter 11: As if to Engrave It Into the Brain
Before 5 PM.
I made my way home, feeling the spring breeze on my face. Even though it was the same path as always, something about the scenery felt refreshingly new.
“…Phew.”
I took a deep breath as I arrived home. At school, no one had approached Shota or me. If they saw it as our personal issue, all the better. But… I probably wouldn’t be popular with the boys in that class anymore. Not that it mattered, anyway.
Ding-dong
The doorbell rang. Looking through the intercom, I saw Shota standing there. It was, surprisingly, only the second time I’d let him into the house. The first time—I remember he’d ran into my mom by chance and hadn’t been back since, probably because he was so scared. Shota must have been worried she overheard his insults.
“!”
“You can come in.”
“You’re alone, right?”
“My mom’s at work, she’s not here.”
“…Hmph.”
When I opened the door, there was Shota. He made himself comfortable at the dining table like he owned the place. I didn’t sit across from him. Instead, I stood and spoke.
“I’m sorry, ‘Inoue-kun’.”
“!? “
“I’m sorry for what happened today.”
“Stop it. Stop looking at me like that!”
“I’m sorry for leading you on.”
“Ugh!”
I bowed my head to the visibly shaken Shota. Allowing things to get this far was probably due to my own weakness.
“I dislike you. Please consider us done from today.”
“…Don’t be ridiculous. No way. You’re mine!”
“No, I’m not.”
“Yes, you are!”
“…”
“Despite being a loser, don’t you dare talk back to me…!”
He no longer had his usual composure. He was like a child throwing a tantrum. Frankly, I couldn’t listen to him anymore.
“Nobody else would put up with you.”
“You were pathetic at baseball, only propped up out of pity.”
“Your clothes are lame. Your face isn’t good, you’re gross, sweaty, such a loser!”
A barrage of insults, again and again. The old me might have hung my head and cried pathetically. But…
[If I were a virgin, I might have fallen for you.]
[Koharu. You should have more confidence.]
Yesterday’s words from him echoed over Shota’s insults. Even remembering it now… my heart raced.
“A loser like you has no right to talk back to me—”
“And so?”
“…Huh?”
“I don’t care about your opinion of me, Inoue-kun.”
“Wha—? Why?”
Suddenly, Shota seemed childlike to me. His words had no effect on me anymore.
“Sorry, but that’s how it is, so please don’t involve yourself with me anymore.”
“!!”
I stated coldly. Standing from his chair, he froze as if overwhelmed.
“…Haha. I see, fine then.”
“!”
Then, he laughed unexpectedly. A look I’d never seen before—
“If Koharu isn’t going to be mine…”
He approached, a crazed smile on his face.
“!? “
What he pulled from his pocket was a black object about the size of a smartphone. From the metal on its ends, sparks crackled.
…A stun gun. He pointed it at me.
“I’ll create ‘facts’…”
“Heh.”
“Hahaha! Koharu, Koharu, Koharu!!”
Repeating my name like a maniac, he lunged—
“That’s enough.”
“…Huh?”
A figure appeared behind him, knocking the stun gun out of his hand.
“Who are you—”
“The male yandere type is just not appealing. Well, maybe it is ‘here’…”
“I’m asking who you are!”
“It doesn’t matter. The whole thing’s recorded on that camera over there. It’s in your best interest not to struggle.”
“…Huh? What?”
“This is confiscated.”
“No, stop! Give it back! Who are you… What’s happening—”
Sato-san took the stun gun from the ground. Shota, like a broken machine, seemed unable to comprehend it all, panicking miserably. I realized I’d been controlled by someone like this all along.
“I thought maybe you’d talk things over seriously, but I was naive.”
“That’s why you—”
“Enough. Shota, you liked Koharu, didn’t you?”
“W-what? Koharu is mine!”
He repeated it, almost delusional. Sato-san looked at him with pity.
“Did you ever once tell her ‘I love you’?”
“!? Why would I—”
“You liked her, right? Then you should have said so from the start.”
“What do you know about it!”
“I don’t know anything, but with that twisted mindset… you’ll end up a ‘virgin’ forever.”
“!? “
Clearly disturbed, Shota. So he did like me. To be honest… I was initially thrilled to have a cute boy living next door. If he had expressed those feelings honestly—
“Sato-san. That’s enough.”
“…Understood.”
Had it been Shota next to me now… just the mere thought made me cringe.
“What are you doing! Get away—”
I clung to Sato-san’s arm, ignoring Shota’s near-screaming voice.
This would end it… my relationship with Shota.
“Koharu.”
“Yes! Um, ‘Inoue-kun’.”
“Ugh… stop it, stop using that ‘face’! Don’t say more—”
Shota floundered like a lost child as I spoke.
Clinging to the man by my side, with my next words, I sealed the deal.
The words ‘Inoue Shota’ had longed to hear, I transferred them to the man beside me.
“I’m sorry. I belong to ‘this person’ now.”
I imprinted it in his mind.
“…?”
Before my eyes, Shota crumpled to the ground.

Get owned.
Unfortunately, this yandere wasn’t one of the heroine nor a love interest. Sorry, bud, you aren’t one of the chosen ones.
